if you want to go somewhere fancy and pricey, go here. It’s a sushi restaurant but not your typical raw fish type of place…Uchi was voted one of the best restaurants in the ENTIRE US and the flavors really just explode in your mouth. SOOOOO good.

PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY SANDWICH. This artful dessert is made with golden raisin and sake puree, apple "chips", apple miso sorbet, and finished with peanut butter powder and ground peanut brittle.

Uchi is in a class by itself: Fish is flown in daily, and an ever-changing menu gracefully fuses Japanese tradition with local and seasonal ingredients for brilliant pops of flavor.

Instead of tortilla chips, yucca chips. Instead of cheese and pickled jalapenos, fish. And raisins. And Asian pear. It’s hard to describe how those things work together, but they do work together.

Hadn't been here in awhile and stopped by on a whim on a Wednesday. If was around 6 and I wasn't expecting to get a table, so was pleasantly surprised to be able to do so. Had great knowledgeable waiter who was very apologetic for the delay on the sushi. The rest of the food came right out of the kitchen, but the sushi chefs were very backed up. This may be the only restaurant where food delays don't upset me as every bite was worth waiting for. Highly recommend getting a reservation if you can. Or go very early or late. I couldn't get a table at 5:45 one time. Try the daily specials - so good! Oh, and they so have a happy hour.

They walk around outside with tastings of amazing dishes while you are drinking on the patio and it only gets better! We had two orders of Shishito peppers as the sauce was so good. The fried salmon roll is insane. loved the Cauliflower tempura as well as the zero sen roll. Expensive but very fun vibe!

In Austin on business and celebrating my boss's 60th birthday. Can't say enough good things about Uchi. Our server, Mandy, was awesome...she managed the menu with us all night, guiding and steering through all of our choices. Not a single bad dish all night. Highlights were the hamachi collar, the hot rock, the amberjack sashimi...the list goes on!

We recently were there on a girls trip, we are all from Chicago and have really great sushi spots, so we are pretty picky when it comes to sushi. This place did not disappoint!! I think we pretty much ordered everything on the menu. We ordered a 6 course tasting menu, it was $95 which included dessert. We loved the Brussel Sprouts!!!! Get them!! you won't be disappointed. The Edamame tastes so good we ordered 2 bowls. We left there pretty full and satisfied. Would definitely return if I'm ever back in Austin

Went with colleagues at work for happy hour sushi. The food was absolutely fabulous and the decor elegant yet comfortable. In the tradition of the "new" Austin, the prices were quite high. Definitely recommended if price is not an issue.

We went to the happy hour from 5:00-6:30. Not meaning to overuse the word "amazing," but the food at Uchi is really amazing-creative, fresh, and scrumptious. Service is excellent, as long as you understand that your selections will arrive as the chefs prepare them, not necessarily at the same time since preparation time varies. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and knew which items were gluten free. The management needs to hire a competent acoustician and implement the recommendations. It is SO LOUD that I couldn't hear the waiter most of the time. I had difficulty conversing with my husband across the table. The music was so overwhelmed by voices that BOOM, BOOM, BOOM from the base line was all one could hear, rending the music superfluous, at best, and an annoyance, at worst. Bring your earplugs, don't expect meaningful conversation, but enjoy fresh, quality food.

Must try the most mushroom plate & the hot rock of course! Enjoy a few drinks in the back outdoor seating area before heading in! The staff is very friendly. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone. 🍣 Tip: Try a bunch of different choices on the menu, even if your not sure you would enjoy it!

The restaurant is nicely decorated, and very popular with a full room creating a high noise level. Service was friendly, but the order of serving the different dishes was a bit incoherent. The sushi was high quality with plenty use of fish sauce and no wasabi or soy sauce, and this made the overall taste impression a bit different from a normal sushi meal.

Hardly expected to enjoy Sushi in the middle of land-locked Austin Texas, however, I was more than pleasantly surprised. Great ambiance, (it was noisy but were told this is unusual?) The food was incredibly flavorful, well-prepared and not your usual Japanese style. Waiter did not even blink when my husband asked for wasabi and soy sauce since it isn't served with sushi! No ginger in site either. Actually food was so good and fresh it didn't need it. We tried several specials and each of us ordered rolls. All good. Dishes are not large but that was good since we actually had room for a bite of dessert. The Japanese cheesecake was excellent with tons of peach fruit flavor but not overly sweet. The staff is well trained and very responsive even though restaurant was packed. I highly recommend this if you are looking for a nice alternative to barbeque!

I would love to talk about the food , the service- both very good, but the noise is my dominant memory. I sat on the front tow of a Black Sabbath concert in 1973. The noise level at Ochi was similar. TOO loud- distracting; hire someone yo add baffles. Would not go back on expense account!!

I went to Uchi for a dinner and really enjoyed it. The valet parking was very nice, the two guys working there were very friendly and efficient. The service, overall, was great. Our waiter, Julia, was very cordial and even handed us a $25 gift card when we left. Everyone else, including the 2 who were serving us food were very friendly and provided detailed descriptions of the food. The dishes themselves are all incredibly good. I ordered the signature tasting. Every single course was eloquently presented and prepared well. Everything was light and flavorful and had very distinct tastes. The signature tasting option is fairly filling, but it's recommended to add another dish. The dishes were fairly small, some of the courses we were served had only around 3 pieces of food. It was enough for me, but some others with more of an appetite should order more. In general, I thought it was a quite well executed meal. Though the price is a bit steep, it's well worth it.

Everything was seriously delicious. It was one of very few meals where my wife and I couldn't decide which dish we liked the most because everything was so good.

This place has amazing food! I even tried their Brussel Sprouts and loved them! I had never eaten Brussel Sprouts before, but now, I can't find anywhere else that serves them as good as Uchi! The sushi was amazing and as good as Sushi that I've had from Japan! Try it, you'll love it!

You can order anything on the menu and it will taste great. It can be difficult to get a table and they have valet parking.
