You can gorge on a whopping 18 specials under $10, including grilled Spanish octopus with chorizo and white bean salad, spicy beef and potato croquettes, pork belly a la Plancha, and prawns and favas with garlic and Calabrian peppers.

Staying in Portland in the Alberta district and decided to check out some local spots for dinner. Stopped in at Ciao Vito and were immediately seated by Vito himself while he was preparing a meal! Really enjoyed our meals from start to finish, and the service by Noon was excellent. I'd recommend the calamari, meatballs, eggplant parm, and linguine with crab from what we tried, but would think anything else on the menu would be just as good. Also, the wine list was put together well with emphasis on Italian varietals and we enjoyed a bottle of Sangiovese! All in all a very enjoyable meal at Ciao Vito!

Took us almost a year since we were last in Portland and at Vito's. Please open a location in Michigan. This time we had a mini buffet of apps and almost licked the plates clean. Every thing from the meatballs (do the meatballs) to the panna cotta with apricot was great. In Portland. Want to treat yourself.?Go to Vitos.

During our trip to Portland we found this restaurant. The food was fantastic. The staff was great with great suggestions. My wife had homemade pasta with a pomodoro sauce. I had the special with chicken, homemade pasta, mushrooms in a cream sauce. We would surely eat here again.

I've been coming here periodically for a few years. The food is always fabulous. Vito, the chef/owner, never serves anything less than a superb meal. Why it's not packed every night is beyond me.

We ended up here on a whim and i'm glad we did. Their food was amazing and incredibly delicious. I can not wait to go back to Portland just to try another dish. Staff was wonderfu, patient, and knowledgeable of all the dishes with all the questions we asked. We ordered the Shrimp Scampi and another tomato based pasta. SO GOOD. We also ordered the fried calamari and that was excellent as well.

Great experience, from reservations (best after 8pm) to very attentive and friendly service, and most of all the food was excellent and authentic. Will go back very soon to try some of the other great antipasti and pasta dishes.

Our family of nine gathered at a big table that the restaurant reserved for us. Out came crusty warm bread with olive oil for dipping. That was followed by the best calamari I have ever eaten anywhere. We had two orders. Crab linguini was the daily special and it was worth every bite !!Delicious !! It is not a restaurant to visit if you are in a hurry. Service was a bit slow thus allowing for time between courses. But, it was worth the wait as each item was outstanding.

What a welcoming staff and atmosphere. Vito runs a tight kitchen that delivers locally sourced products with great taste and presentation. We enjoyed the calamari and a wonderful vegetable salad along with our main course of fresh baked lasagna and a double smoked pork chop. The desserts were heavenly as well. The atmosphere is casual at Vito's and the food and service are unmatched in the neighborhood.

We decided to try the Happy Hour here before going to a concert at the Alberta Rose Theatre. Although we were the only customers at 5 PM on a Sunday, it quickly filled up. We ordered the calamari, Caesar salad and spicy prawns with a glass of their house red wine. It was all very good and we'll probably try dinner here the next time that we are in this area.

Portland is a foodie town so it's hard to pick a favorite restaurant but Ciao Vito is it. Vito always makes fresh, creative handmade food. The menu and specials rotate by what's in season. The restaurant decor is tasteful and intimate. You won't be disappointed.

We met 2 other couples here for the most incredible dinner!! It was booked as Chef's Choice. Oh my, absoultely incredible from the calamari to fresh, crisp, really buttery butter lettuce- to- heirloom tomatoes with fresh basil and Burrata cheese!!! Then two incredible pasta dishes, we were totally happy and they bring each of us a prefect blackberry cobbler!!!! What an amazingly delicious dinner, we had the best wait staff especially "Cori"! Thank you Owner/Chef Vito!!! Oh and the martini's were prefect!

When we first walked past, the restaurant looked empty. Don't make the same mistake we did! There are two front doors - walk in through either one. It's worth it! We each had a salad and a small plate entree. The salads were lovely - very fresh, excellent dressings, and larger than expected. The fresh-baked bread was a perfect accompaniment. The pasta with boar ragu was delicious. The special that night was petrale sole, prepared with a light breading and grilled. It was excellent. Their wine selection was very good, and they have a full bar. The cost was extremely reasonable for Portland. We'll definitely return the next time we're inthe neighborhood.

We keep coming back to this wonderful place. Chef Vito offered us a taste of a delicious special shrimp dish, and we loved it. Small plates, full dinners, a great happy hour menu and bar make this one of our local favorite places for a great, moderately priced meal.

Great food! Perfect service! Reasonable prices & just right portions! This 12+ year old trendsetter is still producing excellent and atypical Italian dishes by a seasoned staff which seems to have been plucked from a remote Tuscany village. Well worth a detour from the usual go to Portland neighborhoods.

This is a neighborhood restaurant that is worth going out of the way to dine at. The pasta is delicious, the sauces are just perfect. My Italian Godmother and I dine here repeatedly which say a lot about the quality and authenticity. The space is small and intimate, great for a date or dinner with friends. Be prepared to eat a meal that is beyond satisfying, and then want to eat there again ASAP!

Our first taste Caio Vitos was last September and was great. We are back in Portland and had to go back. Last time was dinner this time Happy Hour and do I mean Happy Hour! Four of us stuffed ourselves on a variety of great Italian dishes for under a hundred. Every dish from the caesar salad to the burrata, pastas and meatballs(get the meatballs) was a delight and the sauces Oh the sauces. So even though Vito went to Ohio State. Go. Caio. Ps I lied about being totally stuffed we saved room for Salt & Straw.

I've only been for happy hour, which is awesome. Plenty of food options, plus a couple selections of beer, house wine and the bartender's special cocktail (rotating) are all on the happy hour menu, as well as happy hour specials! These aren't just snacky pub food happy hour options, either. I've tried almost everything on the happy hour menu, which have all been delicious. Some staples that are favorites are the calamari (light and fresh tasting), polenta (crisp on the outside, creamy on the inside, served with greens), beet salad and spicy prawns. I've tried other things, all of which I had enjoyed. This a great option prior to going to se a show at Alberta Rose Theater, which is walking distance (right down the street).

This is a restaurant that has never disappointed me. Everything is fabulous; love the ambiance; has a European flair.

Lots of creative dishes, new flavor combos that work. Friendly helpful waitstaff. Parking on the street was not bad.
