Up until last year, this 14th-floor joint was called Me Bar. The new name and management hasn't changed the bar's rock-bottom prices — the happy hour, until 7 p.m., still offers $2 beers and $3 margaritas.

An awesome midtown secret. Check out the rooftop.

A more intimate, hidden rooftop directly under the Empire State Building.

Stunning view of the Empire State Building, as it's right next door. No food on their menu, but they do serve edamame and Pringles.

A lovely little find, it's quite small but a nice place to visit. You can see The Empire State Building from here.

Basically a dive bar on a rooftop. Went with a crowd from a tech training, and while ordering drinks, bartender got mad about having to take several steps more than once to get beers ($8 - limited selection - nothing interesting). She asked us to order in a group so she wouldn't have to go to the beer fridge multiple times. Cocktails were served in plastic cups. The view from this small/cramped rooftop is limited and blocked by cheesy fencing. With so many options in the area, go somewhere else unless you're staying int he hotel and want a drink before bed.

I drink sono terribili, imbevibili. Il terrazzo è piccolo e senza vista tranne che sul empire state building, di resto non c'è niente da vedere. Assolutamente sconsigliato

This is one of the secret spots I pull out of my back pocket when I have visitors in NYC. Often close to any visitor's Manhattan hotel, this bar on the rooftop of the La Quinta offers a unique view of the Empire State Building that you won't find anywhere else. It's my absolute favorite spot to take someone on their first night in the city when they've just gotten off the plane for their first visit. On Saturdays in the summer, they have a live jazz band and it's a perfect spot to tuck in for a couple hours and catch up over cocktails. Not the best cocktails in the world, but that's not really the reason you're here. It's for the ambience, the company, and making a special memory. Enjoy!

Stayed at the hotel. Arrived at the LaQuinta around happy hour. Ventured to the VU bar for a cocktail and to plan our evening. We were surprised with outdoor seating with heat lamps. We sat outside and had a view of the lit Empire State Bldg. That is the only view from the rooftop but it is a nice site. Small seating area was taken up by a boisterous group which is another reason we went outside. When the chill set in, we finished out drink inside, sat down on one of the banquette seats and the seat was so wet it soaked one side of my skirt - ugh!! Didn't go back even though it was convenient. I would have given fewer stars but the view of the Empire State Bldg was nicely lit.

It was freezing outside in NYC but we decided to brave the cold and have a few hot toddies under the heat Lamps on the outside deck with a great view of the Empire State Building. Service was fine, drinks were great, average price for NYC (so not cheap), and great atmosphere, despite it being so cold out. I would love to check this place out for happy hour in the summer sometime.

We stopped by here after an amazing dinner at New Wonjo and this was a perfect ending to our evening. The vibe was chilled even though the bar was busy and the view of the Empire State was incredible! We don't drink so we can comment on the prices but the staff were helpful and the atmosphere was great. Would definitley recommend this little rooftop haven.

I stayed in La Quinta hotel and they have a cool roof top bar. With imposing views of the Empire State building, it is quite a memorable location. It's not large and it was quite a cool (early Nov) evening but i really enjoyed it. A nice place to have a beer and check my work emails before i hit the sack.

This is a fun hidden gem at the edge of Korea Town, a couple blocks from Penn station. A very small bar on top of the 'La Qunta' hotel in Midtown. Cheap Soju shots and beer at happy hour. Opens at 5 and fills up quickly with Midtown hipsters. A 13th floor rooftop in Midtown feels very small - you are looking directly up at the Empire State Building, and cant see much in other directions since you are so much lower than literally every other building for many blocks around.

Other than the Empire State towering over you, there is not much else to tempt you here (unless you stay in the hotel). It's small, not particularly inviting, and not a great drinks selection. The music is a bit random and it feels like it's trying too hard to be a cool wine bar and really doesn't pull it off. The staff are friendly though and the other patrons always seem happy for a chat. There's a few drinks available on Happy Hour, but as always for this area, the normal prices are unnecessarily expensive (over $10 for a shot of bourbon - import tax apparently for something distilled in the same country?)

A nice, but small, rooftop bar under the shadow of the Empire State Building. The bar is open to the public as well as guests so get there early if you want a seat. The bar prices are pretty standard for NYC. A nice place

Went up here after a concert for a cordial. It was nearly empty and very quite. It has a nice view and you can barely hear the noise from the city streets. Heaters are installed for the chilly nights and the place is divided into sections for privacy.

Cute place. OK staff. Just extremely small for the amount of people that show up to the happy hour. I get it, you're right next to the Empire, so that's kinda cool. But the angle just doesn't make for fun views. This patio just feels like that, the patio off of someone's apartment. Which would be great if there were only 10-15 people. The drinks are ok. Prices are decent for happy hour. If you check in on facebook and show them, they give you a shot of well liquor for free. We shared a charcuterie plate and it was pretty good. It had olives, meats, cheeses and crackers. Overall: Decent rooftop on a nice summer day. But a bit too small for the amount of people on it. The drinks are ok, based on the size of the place, I'd rather go to Loopy Doopy.

Some people expect a cocktail bar to be chic and ultra modern, but it doesn't have to be, and Vu Rooftop proves it. It's a more relaxed, wear-whatever-you-want cocktail bar on the roof of a hotel. It's open to the public and probably belongs somewhere in the village than in Korea town. For those that are unhappy about the lack of glamour and plastic people, head elsewhere, because this place is not for you.

For a cheap drink with a nice view of the Empire State Building. This place is worth a stop. It is not fancy, but the happy hour prices were good.

The bar is crowded so if you are lucky you'll have a table; otherwise standing remains the only option. The drinks are very good, a little pricey. Try it after visiting Empire State Building and you will not regret!

Our son is now a city dweller, and so we can appreciate the novelty of seeing the wide open sky in Manhattan. Thus the appeal of meeting him here for drinks on our last visit. We stayed in the LaQuinta Inn, but you do not need to stay here to access the bar. Just hop in an elevator & press 14 (old school: there's no 13th floor!) The pictures say it all, not a "clubby" rooftop bar. You will be disappointed if you're expecting JayZ & Beyonce to roll in with an entourage. No, it's really just a Hotel bar, so you're here with the other tourists & LaQuinta guests. But the view sells it. Yes, Sunday is Happy Hour all day & the deals are decent for Midtown Manhattan. Nice selection of beers, there was a Southampton pale ale for $6 that I enjoyed very much. Well drinks & Margaritas were OK. There is a smoking section for those who wish to indulge. As others have stated, a great place to meet up & plan your night out in the Herald Square area. Note: there is a 34th st. Herald Square subway exit just steps away. Check in on Facebook & get a free shot. Get a room on the 12th floor & you can walk right up.

The view of the Empire State Building is the only thing that is good about this bar. It is quite literally right below it. We had their sangria (which was probably a bad idea in New York anyway) and it was horrible. We didn't finish them and that wasn't because there was no place to stand. We actually found a place to stand by the trash in the corner. I will not be returning.

The location is convenient to meet groups of visitors, especially for those staying in the Herald Square area such as the Radisson. The space isn't huge but it lives up to the descriptions on the website. Of special note is that on Sundays it's happy hour all day. Of special, special note is the view of the Empire State Building! It's spectacular!

Little bar with great views and very affordable prices/ happy hour all day Sunday. Can get very busy. We went when quiet and it did lack of atmosphere then...
