Episode 1: This is the first instance of the trendy Bond St spot on Master of None, and a totally unsurprising one -- Ansari is known to frequent it. Dev catches up with his friends over coffee here, telling them how the condom he was using the previous night broke, but he and the girl he'd gone home with got Plan B, "So now, two people who barely know each other won’t be raising a human child together. That's dope."

Restaurant serving seasonal, sustainable mediterranean cuisine and fair trade coffee. Its flagship location is in a landmark 1830s townhouse and the business is dedicated to giving back to the local community with plans to host classes and events to engage residents in healthier living, etc.

A little sea salt goes a long way at this cult Noho café. Brenna White puts a little crunch in each bite, nicely accentuating the slightly bitter chocolate chunks.

It doesn't take much more than excellent bread, a few simple but high-quality ingredients, & a bit of thought to put together a world class sandwich. The Manaouri Cheese & Fig at The Smile has got all three.

Really nice place. Food was excellent. Thankfully, great coffee - a huge relief. Friendly staff. Well worth going to.

I ate here with three friends on a girls trip to NYC in December. This was our favorite restaurant that we tried. Everything, and I mean everything, we ate was so delicious we were practically moaning in our chairs. We all ordered different things for dinner and ate family style. With soft lighting, exposed brick walls, it was incredibly charming. While not significant enough to lower my rating because the food is that good, the waiter was not friendly, and almost rude at times. Nonetheless, I highly recommend eating here!

Decided to go to The Smile based on reviews, although they were mixed (especially about service). Service was excellent, from the hosts to the server. Everyone was wonderful. In terms of the food, the appetizers were amazing! We had the goat cheese and the meatballs. Both were amazing. I am not a big fan of goat cheese, but this appetizer was really tasty, with toasted garlic and sage over crostini. The meatballs packed major flavor. Really awesome. For main courses we ordered the garlic poached salmon and the hanger steak. The salmon was beautiful but the vegetables had an acidic flavor (was supposed to be citrus, but was nothing like that). The hanger steak was not very tasty and the Swiss chard fave leaves were also bitter. It was pricey for the quality of food. Again, appetizers were worth it, but mains disappointed. The ambience was excellent. That led to 4 stars rather then 3.

Lovely hidden away restaurant, the best food we'd had the whole week. The beer is something special too. Great service but best to reserve in advance

Needed a breakfast while in NYC and stumbled (not literally) across this lovely place. Lovely to see and lovely to have breakfast at.

From the outside this little eatery looks like nothing special, but take the stairs down to the basement restaurant and what a lovely surprise. The food here is homely and satisfying, with basic dishes made very well. It's a great place to sit, chill and enjoy the conversation of your companions.

Lamb meatballs - Lackluster with too little sauce, but not horrible Marinated goat cheese - the marinade added nothing and the rose peppercorns and over-toasted garlic were overbearing. "Kale" salad - looked like a small, wilted assortment of random, leftover greens with just a bit of Tuscan Kale. It was also overbearingly salted with coarse, kosher salt that would have been better suited to a pretzel than a salad. Tagliatelle with eggplant ragu: inedible. squishy, overcooked pasta (not even tagliatelle as far as I could tell. Again, the rose peppercorn taste in the ragu (?) and eggplant, if present at all, lost in the mediocre marinara. Literally, I'm at home now, eating leftovers to make up for the fact that I couldn't choke down the food I was served here.

Lovely building and great lamb chops. The service was good, not excellent. I have heard that the breakfast is the best meal to try here. My dinner of well cooked lamb chops was enough to make me eat here again.

The food is just ok, small bites so don't come here if you are really hungry. It's overpriced for the quality and the amount of food. Salmon sandwitch is very good, but 15$? Egg sandwich and grilled cheese pretty average. Mimosa is 12$. The stuff is not so communicative. For e.g. we ordered grilled cheese and extra toast thinking there is none with it, and there was. Would expect from waitress to tell us that. And is very weird asking us is sth good after the first bite. The place itself is really cosy and nice.

We stopped there for the breakfast. We order the smoked salmon and the almond butter toast. It is a fine food and we enjoyed it. The quantity are not big, you might be hungry if you eat a lot. It is not a inexpensive restaurant. The place is charming and unexpected.

We go for breakfast, they have scrambled eggs and baked eggs, whatever that is. I ask for eggs over easy"we won't do that" what? Won't do eggs over easy, no explanation no smile nothing. So I got toast, they can do that, along with warm orange juice and cold coffee. The only warmth coming from the place was the OJ. Pathetic.

Positives: cozy, nice ambience, good drinks, seated quickly. Negatives: inattentive service (bottomless coffee but never offered a refill, had to ask twice), overpriced for what it was - average for New York, but too much for the quality ($15 for a very average bagel and salmon/cream cheese, $10 for the smallest egg sandwich in the world w/rubbish packet ham and "arugula salad" - ie just a bunch of arugula with a vinaigrette). Seriously disappointed - you can get much better elsewhere for the same price.

We were visiting friends and looking for a low key dinner spot that would not break the bank - and The Smile was just that. From the appetizers to the well portioned entrees and wine, everything was excellent. The goat cheese appetizer was my favorite. Additionally, the brisket was some of the most unique flavored meat I have had in a while.

Most fabulous dinner in softly lit romantic restaurant on bond street. Whole evening was amazing. We were celebrating our cousins' recent marriages and the entire meal added the perfect backdrop to toasting theIr happiness.

Really enjoyed this low key restaurant. A strong hipster vibe but still really neat place. Definitely recommend the goat cheese appetizer along with the meatballs. As everyone else recommended, you can't go wrong with the brisket.

Had a nice lunch here on Thursday. The Smile is great for a light lunch date. Very rustic basement setting with great service. Had the Egg sandwich with Ham. Light and flavorful with a side of arugula. I recommend the Peach Ginger muffin.

The smile is great, one of my favorite brunch spots. They don't take reservations for small parties, but it is worth the wait! The French toast is amazing and so is everything else on the menu! The atmosphere is also very cozy and the staff are very friendly.
