The views of Central Park's tumbling lawns are unobstructed and protected by air rights. Expect $16 cocktails.

"The Roof" is complete with brass details, custom walnut-and-leather sofas, and soaring views of Central Park. DJs play an eclectic mix of classic and indie rock music, while the beverage selection features an expansive collection of small-batch spirits.

Bar was loud and empty, it was a Wednesday night but everyone there looked miserable. Bartender was nice enough but she charged us each a $1 more than what the menu said. Ended up paying $30 for 2 drink plus tip. My frozen rosé was good and my boyfriend liked his beer but it wasn't wort the price. Great view though.. probably won't be back.

The view is great and the seating is relatively comfortable. Drinks on the night we went were mediocre at best. We ordered a wine spritzer and margarita with muddled jalapeno. The only thing that was muddled was the bartender's ability to make a decent drink.

The terrasse is great, the location is really good to have a drink / aperitif outside because the view on central parc is wonderful, the bar inside is normal and the most exciting things happen on the terrasse Go...

We stayed in the Viceroy hotel and visited the Roof for a drink. The staff were very nice and accommodating. The view was incredible. The drinks, however, were very pricey! I had a "blood and sand" it consisted of one shot of whisky, one shot of something cherry flavored and one shot of oj.....it was $24! Needless to say, we stayed only for the one drink.

Went there off the cuff late in the night as you do in NY and was happily surprised by the place , good ambiance, good service and good drinks. The view of Central Park is obscured by the buildings in between but you do feel you are on top of the city . The outdoor area is cosy and relaxing, snacks are available too. prices for drinks are high but you are in NY so what would you expect?

Stopped in here as it was recommended by friends. We went at night and it was well worth it for the view alone. Service prompt and efficient, definitely worth a visit

enjoyed an ap and a couple of drinks in the roof bar. It was January, so I imagine that warmer weather is even better, but it was comfortable, had good drinks and you didn't have to yell over the crowd to carry on a conversation.

If you haven't been 29 storeys up before the view might interest you... otherwise it is uninspiring... a wine is $14 and a Corona $9... the space is cozy... Staff are meh... atmosphere seems ok but I think the place on the ground level of the hotel is way cooler still pricey but epic staff. I wouldn't bother here meh... not horrid just meh

I visited this rooftop over the summer and while the space is a little tight, the crowd was very friendly and no one minded the occasional bumps! The crowd was an afterwork crowd looking to relax -- average age was probably mid-30s. Great drinks, a little pricey, but worth it for the NYC rooftop bar experience. I will definitely be back again!

We only visited once and that, from the experience we had, was once too many! It is a cold, lifeless place and the service matched. You could not get a coffee and the espresso martini I was served has to rank up there as probably one of the worst I've had the misfortune to be served. The welcome and service was unfriendly and I felt more of an inconvenience and, as it was practically empty on our visit I felt that, if this was the norm and what others had experienced, it would explain the distinct lack of customers. It was dark when we arrived and the only saving grace for me was the night view. Expensive for bad service and quality this is not one I would put up there as a must try and definitely, for me personally, down there at the bottom of my list.

We came here after a night in Broadway, the drinks were really good, excellent service and the view is really nice. It's a good place to end the night in very comfortable seats and the music was just right

Located on the 29th floor of The Viceroy Hotel on West 57th Street. You might be prone to walk right by the entrance to The Roof if you rush by. Even in the Fall/Winter when the 'deck' is enclosed & warmed by heaters - you still are offered a great view of the 57th Street & North views of the City. Including Central Park! There is a small open, outdoors area on the East side of the room = great for photos. [NOTE: watch your step = there's a drain that sticks up and could catch your foot!] Fortunately, knowing what we were in for, we got their in time to see the last bit of daylight (better be thinking 4:00 at latest till late Winter/early Spring!) and then watch the lights come on in the buildings. Drinks aren't cheap, but not attrociously over-priced - - given the fact it is NYC and there is NO cover charge. Our server, HANNA, was terrific! My wife was undecided on 2 wines, so she got her a sample of both. Worked out well, as without Hanna offering to do this - - my wife would have picked the one she wound up liking the least! Good, friendly, attentive server! A GREAT spot for a date, a romantic drink before/after dinner or a play; or to be with friends.

Spacious, loud and lots of sitting place. Perfect for summer. Its a place to be seen. The cocktails are good but very pricey. The view is magnificent. The waitress was not very friendly and she did not come to check on us. We had to flag down someone else to pay. The drinks and service deserve a 5. The service a two.

We went for a drink on the Roof top to be greeted with an ice cold waitress that was not at all friendly. Then in spite of being guests in the hotel below we could not run a tab. Ok their are rules that have to be obeyed, I understand that but their is a way of transmitting that information, nicely, not in a brusque manner. Another couple were moved from an empty table , ostensibly because it was reserved, but their order was not taken for over 25 minutes and they left. What is the logic for that sort of treatment? We will not be back!

Well, if you want to enjoy New York City lights with a great cocktail, this bar, on the 28th floor of a building just one block from Central Park, is the place to be. Nice cocktails, small bites, fancy atmosphere and good service. What else you need for a great night?

We were staying in the hotel and came up for a couple of drinks. Two martinis and two Bailey's was $80 somehow. But, we were on vacation so whatever. Magnificent view but a couple of loose tiles on the patio almost gave my husband a coronary as he stepped on them and they wobbled back and forth. Great service, friendly and efficient.

I love that there's a rooftop bar on 57th street with a great view of NYC's midtown and central park! Walking into the Viceroy hotel and having a couple of mimosas at the Kingside restaurant, we wanted to check out The Roof. When anyone is in Manhattan, it's a must-visit place and it will always be on my list whenever I'm in the area.
