More than anything, The Frying Pan is known for its eccentric decor: the must-see dinner and drink spot is actually located on a permanently docked boat. Built in 1929, the boat was a United States Lightship in its prime. Today, diners can enjoy a mix of American fare and seafood. Not to be missed: the key lime pie and the Frying Pan Shoals cocktail.

Overpriced food and small portions. The $3 grilled hotdog is the way to go. Load it up with hot sauce and go back for seconds

Built in 1929, this historic lightship (one of the few remaining) is said to have spent three years at the bottom of the Chesapeake Bay before being salvaged and brought to Chelsea Piers to become the ultimate “dive” bar.

Enjoy casual bites on the Hudson, + we mean that literally. You'll be drinking + dining on a docked boat.

Nice spot on the water with the view of New Jersey skylines & New York. As you enter the frying plan it looks like an abandoned vintage rail road and ship. You order your own drinks/ food and find a seat. The boat does sway due to the currents. Nice place for a happy hour, date or summer outing. The food was good too and prices reasonable. Pitcher of sangria $40, pitcher of beer $28. I had the fish taco and hummus. Both selections were great and I highly recommend.

This is one of my favourite places in NYC. Great food and drink at a reasonable price. Great place to chill out.

Just what we were looking for on a comfortable summer evening. We were here for sunset over the Hudson and it was spectacular. We split the chicken wings which were very tasty. I had the steamers and chorizio which was very well done. My wife had the lobster roll and loved it. The seasoned fries were also great. Plus we had a great waitress, Amanda, who made the evening fun. Well done.

I did a lot of research for this trip and wanted to go, see and do things off the main track. So glad we went here, could have stayed all afternoon! Such a cool place located in the Hudson with amazing views of New Jersey and the Statue of Liberty. We had a couple of cocktails and beers to wash down our fish and pork tacos which were yummy!!! Highly recommended

I came here with some colleagues from work and had a great time! Don't expect a huge wine list or food menu. The offer is very simple, but what's really worth is the location and the fact that this is a place where New Yorkers hangout after work. Prices are also reasonable and service is friendly.

Visiting our daughter in the city this past Sunday. What a gorgeous day! Our daughter took us the Frying Pan. This was an excellent choice. We started by getting a picture of Bloody Marys and split the peel and eat shrimp which was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of Old Bay. We each had a different main dish (fish tacos, pork tacos and a veggie burger). We shared a plate of Old Bay fries too! We were all happy! The views from the boat were great and the slight breeze made for a perfect day. We'll be back

Great atmosphere. Go with a group of friends. Upper deck level is a plus. Via plus breeze. Food wasn't good. Fried were cold and calamari was over seasoned. Burger was ok nothing special. Slightly overpriced.

Got her for some lunch at 2 pm. Only because one of us didn't bring ID, we were not allowed into the restaurant (both of us is 25). We only came here for food and were very dissapointed over their lack of understanding.

Right on the river. Good place to hang out and have a few drinks on a lazy afternoon or pit stop on hiking along the river. Bucket of beer and a few pitcher of mango sangria.

Came on a beautiful afternoon in June. There was a long line to get on the pier but it was handled well and we waited about 20 minutes. Once on the pier I had a beer in hand in 10 minutes and was sitting on the bow of the Frying Pan in 15 minutes. The host, hostess and waitress were vg and attentive. We were a party of 6 and were given an option of shady seating on the bow or sunny seating with a better view. Its that time of personal attention that makes me revisit. Food was much better than I expected! We tried quite a bit of options. The mussels were huge and very clean. Not going to be the best you ever had but for a party type atmosphere( lots of college kids) it was vg. VG line of beer taps, vg drinks and reasonably priced considering where you are at. Definetley recommend this. Under 21 will probably not get on the pier.

My friends and I spent the sunny Saturday afternoon here. I haven't been here in years, and this weekend was reminded how much I really love this spot. It is awesome and prices are reasonable and casual. This is exactly the place when you want on a summer day. Buckets of Corona (6) for $37; a table alongside water, a relaxed non-crowded vibe with plenty of space to explore. The food has much improved here though still standard pub. The calamari was cooked a bit to crisp; but the fries were awesome and the tuna tacos were tasty too. Water is available here too. TIP: Try to arrive before 1:30pm or before on Weekends to try and snag seat & tables. After that, you can expect wait in line to get in (and it doesn't matter if you friends have a table, security doesn't care). Sunscreen is a good idea too. Have fun!

This floating (really!) restaurant has quite a variety of food: from "calamari fritti" and a tasty Barge Burger through grilled salmon and mussels Provençale. Drinks from Corona through Pinot noir through Cucumber Cooler through Veuve Cliquot! Plus (if you're there for dinner) a free sunset thrown in. I love it, but if you have a tendency to seasickness, this place may not be fore you. If so, you're really missing out!

So, was looking for a place to experience. This was it. The place was packed with folks enjoying great food and drinks. However, we were there to eat. We were told about dining on the actual boat vs the barge. We jumped on it and was seated immediately. (Should have asked sooner) Great view of the city. Service was attentive and fast. Ordered fish and chips. Food was awesome. I will be back and highly recommend this restaurant, place, barge, etc. So many offerings!

My partner and I had been told to visit Frying Pan on Pier 66 by a friend who had been. We had lunch (the most incredible beef brisket!) and drinks sat at the end of the boat in the sunshine. It was a really love way to wallow away a few hours. I would love to visit later in the afternoon/evening when I imagine there is more atmosphere and it's more lively! We walked along the High Line and jumped off half way to go and find Frying Pan, before walking along the Pier itself and down to the skate park. I was very surprised at how lovely and clean the toilets were on the boat!

The Frying Pan has amazing drinks and an amazing ambiance. It is beautiful in the summer time to be on the boat with friends after work. It is a hip, young crowd.

I have just 1 word for this place, Wow.!!!! Its the most romantic place I have been. Its just beautiful. I was a t rooftop restaurants recently, but Frying pan is much better and nothing is comparable to it. Food is decent and they dont have many options. But it is an amazing place. Will be back there. Rec: evening and night time and a pleasant day, sit on the deck.!!!!

I came here to visit the boat. Unfortunately it had closed for the year and I was left very disappointed. We stayed for a drink and to be fair, the service was fine, the view and surroundings were great.

We came across this ship as we were walking along the river. What a cool place on the river with great views. Food was great and its a great quirky venue. You place you order at the bar (you are given a buzzer) and collect food when ready from the kitchen area which is open for you to see. A place you must visit, if only for a drink
