Walk through an old fashioned barber shop in front to enter a speakeasy bar with drink names like Sweeney Ted and Smoke and Dagger.

Live this spot! The bar is in back and I think they still give a free drink if you get your haircut!

Barber shop in the front and speakeasy in the back. Complimentary beverage with a hair cut, shave, or beard trim.

We wanted to visit a Speakeasy while in NYC and after getting turned away at PDT we took a short walk to Blind Barber on a recommendation from a restaurant. Easy entry, great place but it does give the impression that they are very busy all the time, takes away from the atmosphere a bit. Inside was great, interesting, cozy. They played mostly hip hop which isn't my vibe but if it is you'll love it! Bit of a younger crowd, felt like 21-25.

Really loved this speakeasy. Lovely little snug down the back The staff are good and the bar feels like you teleported back to the prohibition era Highly reccomend

Great cocktails, interesting entrance, rustic setting all very cool. If disinterested bar staff age your thing then this is heaven. Great soundtrack and good tunes played either for the love of them or the hipster irony factor, just not sure which one.....

What a cool place. Sneak through the barbers shop. It's dark. Drinks are strong and well prepared by barkeeps dressed for the occasion. I Could spend all night here. It feels like a bar should.

Look, I'm a sucker for places like this. My son surprised me and my wife by bringing us here, and we got quite a kick out of it. It was around 6 o'clock on a Saturday night and he figured (correctly) that it wouldn't be too busy. Loved the atmosphere and the novelty. Service was great during the slower period. Can't vouch for when it's crowded.

The initial moments of intimidation as you walk through a fully operational barber shop to gain access to the bar are totally worth it. Inside is an experience not to be missed. Dark and sexy, the space is really beautiful and the drinks are incredible. Very prohibition, very good.

A cool little speakeasy through a barbershop store front so if you didn't know about it you wouldn't even realise. Nice inside and had some cool tunes on. Can order pizza from next door and they have a decent cocktail list. Nice area to bar hop as there is plenty around so definitely make this place a stop

This is worth trying. "Hidden" entrance and friendly staff that can mix really good cocktails! Go there if you have the chance!

I was keen to discover one of New York's speakeasy bars and we could not get in to the nearby shhh Don't tell at Criffs hotdogs, so we went through the barbershop to this one. Lovely cocktails but a bit unfriendly and the clientele 30 years younger than us!

We wanted to go to a speakeasy! Unfortunately it was Monday night so no music and no atmosphere. It was an experience walking through a barbers shop but the bar was not anything to write home about. The cocktails were awful too ! and expensive!!

You have to go because 1) it's in alphabet city 2) it's unique 3) the cocktails are good and 4) the back room is just like in Eastern Europe which I love

People like to rag on places for novelty. But as adults we forget how to just play and not be worried about whether or not it's cool. The Blind Barber's secret location is play and I think it is brilliant. Go through the barber shop, pass the customers getting their hair cut, through the sliding door and enter a world of carefully crafted cocktails. With an happy hour...who would have thought! The bartenders are nice and dedicated to their craft. I sat at the bar with two other friends and between us we tasted their whole happy hour cocktail menu. There wasn't one cocktail that we weren't blown away or interested by. And when you see the bartenders make your cocktail...you just appreciate their hard work and understanding of what they do. Now, we went earlier in the day. The bar wasn't busy at all and it was really nice and laid back. The staff wasn't overwhelmed and we got tons of attention. I haven't gone later in the evening so I don't know how this bar is like then. All I know is this place is definitely going to become a staple for me...especially in the early evening.

First off, the coffee is good. Maybe great. Usually the service is good. Stand in one line to order, sit or stand and wait to be called. Today I felt I was in the bread line in pre-Putin Russia. It was my turn and the Rick Moranis look-a-like kid took the order from the guy in back of me. He wasn't even trying to be subtle. What do I gotta do to get a cup of Joe? Be Joe? On the positive side, I went again and my usual dude was very nice.

Only I New York will you find a barber shop that's hiding a bar during the evening... Great drinks and cool people in my favorite part of town!

Once you get past the novelty of the place it's all over- don't waste your time. Staff are rude and obnoxious, especially if it's towards closing time!

It's exciting waiting in the barbershop for the roller door to open! The anticipation is worth it! Beautiful room and the best drinks! Proper glassware and it is glass! The drinks wonderful! I had the strawberry fields, so smooth and fresh! It tasted like summer! This place is a must!

I used to think this place was awesome....you walk through a barber shop to a bar. The concept was the appeal in the beginning. Then when you finally get in you arrive to find a beyond crowded bar full of students who cant hold their liquor, which in this spot is $13 by the drink. (easy) I'd rather walk around the corner to a dive bar with a tad more space, less sweaty people, and better drinks.

My cut at Blind Barber today, was great. Rob cut my hair, he is a confident, talented, barber with a great personality. The cut he gave me is one of the best I've had. Book in advance! The Speakeasy is connected to the barbershop. It's a very cool place. The staff is awesome. They put the BAR in BARber but they do both incredibly well. No compromises here.

So, I understand the New York game of lets make people wait outside and bounce them at the door to make us look cool--but the point is you actually need to be cool to pull it off. Have been there and found it empty half the time, and got tired of waiting outside for nothing happening. Standard overpriced drinks from bartenders who can't mix a manhattan catering to tourists.

Wonderful speakeasy. Walk through the barber shop into the bar area. There is a small living room in the back that is the perfect place to sit, drink and talk. Get there early to sit there.
