For Your Neighbor: Saturdays Surf Santalum + Cedrus Candle: The Saturdays Surf Candle is equal parts woodsy and spicy. A minimal aesthetic means it can complement any style of decor, and its mellow, long-lasting, super heady fragrance makes it a memorable gift.

As the most well-known backyard of this bunch, it can be difficult copping a seat at this surf shop. But if you manage to grab a spot to sip your coffee from the in-store cafe, you'll be nestled in one of New York's great rarities: peace and quiet. [Photo: Saturdays Surf NYC]

Surfbordt jokes aside, it's both weird and wonderful that you can find coffee at Saturday's Surf Shop in Soho. The retail store surfs up its very own house-made roasts. (That joke was okay.) Stop by and enjoy riding the caffeine wave.

Owned by my friend Morgan Collett, this amazing shop is where I meet V Magazine's Managing Director Steven Chaiken for coffee....so that we can feel superior to all those people who go to Starbucks.

One of those curious combinations of fashion store with coffee outlet. Good balance of some cool surfwear and great cold brew coffee.

A small cosy surf shop with an coffe shop corner. Great relaxed vibe, friendly staff and good coffe. Perfect for kicking back a while from the NYC pace (and they have good looking clothing as well). Well worth a pit stop.

This is a small clothing store with men's apparel and accessories, but the La Colombe coffee and pastries are delicious! There is a cute garden seating area in the back of the store.

Absolutely loved this little store where surfboard are laying out everywhere. There is a coffee shop area where the coffee is good and cheap, and you can chill in the back pation area, such a quiet place in soho, nyc!

Love coming into Saturdays and just chilling out in their back yard/patio... In the middle of the bustling area this is such a cool and vibey place to hang out.

You wouldn't assume so but the coffee at Saturdays is very good indeed and the patio in the back is nice. Your standard Saturdays stuff, which is to say, a positive.

Great shop, selling excellent clothes and great coffee with a garden in the back. You're not likely to buy a surfboard but you check out the clothes of you like brands like Albam, Folk, A.P.C., Reigning Champ et al. So good I went back three times in one week, buying something every time. Well worth a visit. Staff are helpful too. Check it out.

Two pieces of advice spring to mind when i reflect on Saturday's Surf. But first a complement - THIS IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST COFFEE IN NEW YORK - there I said it!! Now to the advice: (i) if you are from Australia - where we have the best coffee culture in the world - you have probably been trawling the streets of NYC in a desperate bid to find somewhere that does more than serve poor coffee imitations aka. espresso from a capsule in what is made to look like a 'real' espresso machine. If so GO NO FURTHER. In a comparative sense this is undoubtably the BEST coffee I have had in New York. In an absolute sense it is one of the best coffees I have had anywhere and I pride myself on being really tough to please when it comes to coffee. (ii) If you are a New Yorker hooked on that poor excuse for coffee that is served on almost every other corner - STOP AND SMEEL THE AROMA of true coffee. Life is too short to drink dark water on the rocks or latte with an insipid taste. Now I have a caveat to add to this review. I hope for the proprietors' sake some of you take my advice - I know you wont be disappointed. BUT I hope that not too many New Yorkers make the change since the demand for coffee is already on a rapid rise and coupled with climate change limiting growing sites the huge pressures on availability and price are starting to take effect.

Stopped in to this coffee-shop disguised as a surf shop in the west village as it reminded me of a coffee-shop disguised as a bike shop in Barcelona. The barista assured us that once we try his americano we'll be comparing him to them - and he wasn't wrong! Coffee was absolutely phenomenal (I'm a coffee snob) and an oversized corner ledge in the window provided a perfect backdrop to sit for a moment and watch the city go by. An absolute must-visit for any coffee afficianado.

We stopped by here for coffee after we left the Mondrian Soho. They serve LaColombe espresso which is superb. Service was friendly and fast. Where else can you grab an espresso and shop for surfboards and surf wear? Only in NYC.
