In addition to being one of the best places to have oysters in NYC, Mermaid Oyster also brings the noise during the happiest hour of the day. And by the happiest hour of the day, we mean all night Mondays, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays.

We enjoyed this meal very much. We came on a Monday, with reservations, as they have Oyster Happy Hour all evening. I wasn't looking for ambiance or "buzz" or anything chic. I just wanted good food and that's what we got. Calamari was fantastic as was the fish and chips. The oysters? Divine!

I have visited twice and found the wait staff unfriendly, off putting. The discount happy hours make it worthwhile if you are in the area but nothing special. \

My husband and I made reservations for July 4th dinner. We were seated immediately and the staff was extremely polite. The menu has a variety of seafood options, but also steak choices, too. We started with the lobster knuckles. They are cooked "escargot style" and slathered with butter and garlic. For my entree, I had the lobster roll. I really loved the celery crunch they added to the mixture. The bun was buttery and warm to compliment the cool lobster mix. The Old Bay fries were excellent.

My wife, daughter and I came here during our vacation in NYC. Though it was happy hour we had a dinner-sized meal. This was a first time experience for us as we'd never tried oysters in western Canada. We started with a plate of 6 or so oysters and then ate other delicious seafood items from the menu. My daughter and I had a pint of cold beer to balance the offerings which worked just fine. But, when our visit was over, as delicious as everything was, the star of the night was definitely the oysters. I highly recommend getting a very large plate to share as they are ridiculously good. Wow!

Dinner was outstanding....we started, of course, with a bottle of Pinot Grig...a nice selection...for our appetizer we had Hush Puppies, which were very tasty with a mustard sauce, but being from the South, we requested some Ketchup! I had Salmon and my daughter had a white fish dish. Both portions were just right and we both had a hard time finishing our entrees. After we finished, our very capable waitress, allowed a little time to pass and then served up mini servings of Chocolate Mousse that were complimentary. A very nice finish to a delicious meal. Highly recommend this Village restaurant...

We were brought here by a foodie New Yorker in the know, who described it as a casual seafood place. It was much more than that! We loved the food (oysters, lobster rolls in a brioche bun, spiced shrimps sandwich, panfried salmon with asparagus), the wine (that bottle of Crémant...), and buzzing atsmophere. It felt like the place to be. And not too overly expensive either.

My fiancé and I just had the best experience! Our server, Simone, was the sweetest, most attentive, and professional server we have had in a very long time. I feel like she knew exactly what I needed before I even knew myself! Thank you so much for a great time, Simone! I highly recommend the Mermaid!

We were in Greenwich village Saturday night with no meal plans. We walked into this restaurant and lucked out as they had a couple of cancellations and were able to seat our party of 4 immediately. We started with an assortment of east coast oysters that were fantastic. We then shared a number of small plates that were all delicious. My favourite was the blue crab Toscado but the lobster fritters , wedge salad etc we also great. Our server was excellent making a number of suggestions we took her up on. Service was very attentive but not overbearing. A complimentary chocolate pudding was given at the end. Although we had all declined desert we could not resist this small offering . I would definitely return and will make a reservation so as not to be disappointed.

We were here on a Sunday night and really enjoyed the caring service, good food and drinks. I had oysters and sautéed calamari with feta, excellent and excellent. My colleague had a lobster roll and we split the shrimp and avocado sliders. Everything was delicious. The drink menu is also good as is the ambiance.

We went there with a friend living in NYC and she had heard of it but never been. Do book ahead. Good choice from raw bar, fish was very well cooked, we shared sides of salad and excellent mac n' cheese. Staff very friendly, helpful and efficient.

I had my first oysters here and they where complemented well with a few dark and stormy's! The shrimp corn dog was amazing and I really enjoyed the fried oysters. The chocolate moose in a cup for dessert with the fortune fish is a lovely touch. It makes it a memorable experience. Book in advance for happy hour as you will not get a table otherwise.

My first visit to the Mermaid Oyster Bar and I have to say I loved it. If you love Oysters like I do you will love this place. $1 oysters during happy hours. Also the shrimp avocado sliders are delicious. The place is cozy and the service is great. I can't wait to go back. 👌🏻

I was looking for an Oyster Bar for dinner with my wife. I found this on line and could not have been more pleased with our visit and meal. We went on a Monday night which happened to be all night Happy Hour with oysters, apps and drink specials. It was a small place with great vibe and ambiance in Greenwich village. There was a great mix of students and what appeared to be mostly locals. We had 7pm reservations. Got there a little early and had a couple drinks at their cozy bar - again, the place is not very big but they do a nice job of accomodating the people who were eating or stopping for a drink. Food was outstanding and it was just a fun place to spend some time. I highly recommend it.

There is no dressing up here but the food is great along with a pleasant ambience and good service. It could have done to be a little warmer to cope with the NY freezing temperatures but still a really nice evening.

Our friends told us to dine here and we are glad we did. We had reservations for 5:45 bc there were no other times available. What a treat! Happy hour prices from 5-7 and delicious oysters. We enjoyed fish tacos and clam chowder, lobster roll and oysters. To end the evening we were served complimentary chocolate pudding. Do not miss!

We went there one evening nearby our hotel in Soho, made reservation first and came in to this very living area, a lot going on happy people all over, our waitress was efficient and fun too, ordered oyster of course east coast 5 different kinds and two west coast plus my favourite raw yellow fin tuna and avocado, wow tasty and very fresh together with a crispy Albarino from Galicia, a fantastic experience, we even went back again on Halloween, because we were trapped during the street party. Seek out you won't regret it.

Second visit to one of the three restaurants in the super appealing Mermaid-franchise. This time on Macdougal Street with friends to celebrate (and recuperate) from finishing the NYC Marathon 2016 (a dozen oysters paired with the excellent octopus and ample servings of wine really helps you come around in a good way). And to be quite frank there simply isn't a finger to put on this place - food is awesome all the way round, service superb and the restaurant's trimmings are very nice. Check out their über cool Oysterpedia app - it's got everything you never knew that there was to know about oysters. We'd definitely go back in an instant given the chance.

Neat place -- lively with great deal for happy hour oysters. Good wine plus steamed clams looked good. Really I can't say enough good things about this small place in the Village. And they saved our reservation for us when the subway was delayed. A new favorite in the city...
