Dine in the windows during the summer and the cozy subterranean space in winter. Also, the french-fries...oh the French fries.

Reservation booked by a friend. This restaurant was off my radar. But I was pleasantly surprised! We shared some fri calamity which was both light and crispy and deliciously seasoned with a nice tangy dippy sauce. I had the grilled sea bass which came on a bed of lovely greens with surprise ginger accents. It paired well with the ginger margarita!

Sadly our experience was less than we hoped for. This is the 5th time I have been to Mercer, and by far our server this evening spoiled the entire experience. She had the personality of a cold pancake. My wife and I chose Mercer for our dinner on our first night in Soho, and we shared the shrimp appetizer, which to be kind, was underwhelming, the shrimp were small and overcooked. Had we had better and more attentive service, the restaurant could have made more money, as we would have ordered more drinks - but in order to get anything to happen, we had to flag our server down - very, very poor and we will not be back. That being said, the chicken was great, the angel hair pasta was good, and the buttterscotch pudding was do die for.

Vibrant and fun restaurant with great selection of menu items. Cocktails were great too. It's a bit noisy to have conversation amongst 4 people at table but love the ambience and the decor.

If you can get a table at the ground floor restaurant this is great, bright and light. The big basement is dark and gloomy. Burger is very good but the roast lamb sandwich was boring and tasteless $18. Service is prompt and the manager responded well with the sandwich problem.

My kids had never been in the SoHo district of New, off we went. SoHo is trendy, expensive with lots of boutiques and every designer you can think of. The tribe was getting hungry, and out of the corner of my eye I see a sign for The Mercer Kitchen. I had heard dinners there were great, but had never been. After walking in (and standing there for what seemed like 15 minutes) we asked the wait staff how to get seated - HEAD DOWN the stairs (if you decide to go) where the hostess is located. We were seated immediately - the wait staff downstairs seemed much happier/friendlier than the staff upstairs (I wonder.... ;-). The menu is small with something for everyone - especially the healthy eaters and if you like freshly squeezed juice combinations - we ordered the kale, spinach, apple and pulp - perfectly 'juiced'. For lunch we had the shrimp salad with a champagne vinaigrette - PERFECTION - the shrimp were a nice size - the watermelon and cheese salad - also amazing. And then I saw an artichoke at another table...looked good - so I ordered one. BAD MOVE. The artichoke was tasteless, (although it did come with a mayo type dip on the side). For me, a great artichoke (if cooked right) only needs salt - For me, this was a disaster :-( We also ordered (not pictured) the lamb shank sandwich - my son loved it - go figure ;-)!!! I know I'll be trying many more restaurants before I head back there - but check it out...let me know how the artichoke is. Happy Travels.

Well located on Mercer street next to the hotel of the same name in the middle of Soho. Great building and cool decor. Upstairs is smaller but do t be put off by a table down stairs as it has more atmosphere. A good selection of food from smaller plates to a three course menu. Reasonable wine list availability by the glass or bottle. The food presentation was ordinary but it was delicious as was the wine and reasonably priced. The service was average and we felt rushed as the staff were too quick to clear away after each course and I nearly lost an expensive glass of wine to an over enthusiastic waiter who came to clear the table. So we felt rushed at lunch and they weren't that busy. So disappointing overal.

We tried to get into a little French place but couldn't. Found Mercer Kitchen. Yum!!! The intrigue of it being downstairs added to the experience. The poached shrimp salad was amazingly tasteful. My friends each got a pizza that they both enjoyed. The lemonade was fresh and tart. I tried the vodka thyme lemonade. Wow! It was great. It's on my list of places to visit again.

Nice fresh lunch spot - good atmosphere in a below ground level seating area. Sidewalk outside is translucent and you can see the pedestrians walking by overhead. Food was fresh and light and nicely done. Omelette with goat cheese was a perfect compliment for my fresh mozzarella and tomato starter.

Such a great restaurant. I love that the dining room is downstairs and while you're eating, people are walking above you and you can see them! I've had dinner here and I love the baked olives, gazpacho, mozzarella and peaches, fish and chips, organic chicken and the ribeye. French fries are great too! Lunch is just as good. They have a great burger and chicken sandwich. Overall, you can't choose the wrong thing here. Service is slow at times but worth the wait. Give it a try.

All in all, I can highly recommend the "Mercer's kitchen". We were located downstairs where it was very dark, it had a club-like atmosphere but I liked it. The service was good and the food was awesome. The sea-brass carpaccio was very refreshing and something exceptional and the ribeye steak was honestly the best steak I ever had. It was crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked to medium and there was the perfect amount of fat (in my opinion). So it was not too fatty but still very juicy. The portion was also pretty large.

I have been dining here for years and the exquisite food and service never disappoints. I love the atmosphere and the menu really caters for everyone. With a vast selection of main meals and desserts dinner (I have also been here for lunch which is equally as good) is a sheer delight. The roast chicken and vegetables and the pizza with truffle oil are my favorites. The dim lighting is relaxing and romantic and l just find l can completely chill out here and enjoy a great evening with friends.

Amazing service and lovely cozy ambience. Their downstairs is a rustic setting and their upstairs is quiet cafe like setting. We picked this restaurant from their NY Summer Restaurant Week Menu. Definitely reflects what Jean George offers. Loved their burgers!!!!

You had a great lunch now at this restaurant. There is an upstairs and downstairs. The downstairs is very big and has larger booths. Upstairs is bright and sunny but the tables are very close together. Overall, we had a great meal. We just had a long wait for our bill that was a little frustrating. Otherwise, this place would be five stars.

I took my wife here on dates more than 15 years ago and celebrated my birthday and the eve of our wedding here in 2003. More than 10 years later we were so happy to find a great meal and the excellent service we remembered. Well worth the price.

Went with adults and kids (teenagers and little ones). Good menu that catered for all. Very attentive service and excellent quality of food. Just a personal comment but get some decent wine glasses.

This place gets busy in a hurry. You have to reserve well in advance and even after than you might experience some serious waiting time. The menu has some good variety and the food is well prepared. Nice atmosphere, and decor.

Best service I have ever had at a NY restaurant. We sat upstairs for a light dinner at 5:00. Everything we ordered was good. And the service was above-and-beyond.

Went today, on my own, for a late lunch with high expectations having visited ABC Kitchen and ABC Cocina in the last week. I ordered a shrimp salad. The salad was not fresh, looked old and was saggy. The salad sauce was sticky and the whole was inedible. To top it off the table next to me had just discovered an insect in their uneaten artichokes. I sent the food back to the kitchen and, thankfully, did not have to pay for the salad. I left extremely disappointed by a kitchen living on its past laurels but falling to unacceptable standards. I will not be returning.
