A small, no-frills lunch counter with seating.  Dominican & Puerto Rican rice & beans, plantains, pork and more.

This hole in the wall diner is a great bet for classic Cuban sandwiches like the cubano and media noche—none of which will run you more than $7.50. The restaurant also serves hot entrees.

no wider than an office cubicle but should not be missed. you can sit down or take out and you get tasty and filling cuban food. Cuban sandwich is best I have ever had. Good soups (chicken and seafood) they have daily specials such as oxtail, tripe, seafood etc. Counter staff is terrific as well. Wish they were open for dinner.

The food was excellent and the prices were extremely reasonable. You get LOTS of food. No one finished their entire meal. Definitely will go back again on future visits.

A real find in midtown. If you are in the neighborhood, check out the best breakfast sandwich in Manhattan. Awesome and fresh. After two mornings, the friendly staff knew we were from out of town (out of country actually). The other breakfast dishes being ordered looked fantastic. Wish we had more time to sample some evening meals, but we will be back.

Best white rice with beans I've had in the US. The Cuban sandwiches are authentic, fresh, and full of flavor. The staff will make you feel at home. The only downside I find is how early they close (5pm I believe), because I would love to go the for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Stopped for lunch at this really friendly Cuban cafe. We ordered two Cuban sandwiches with a couple of beers, absolutely brilliant. The lady owner was so friendly, took our order, brought the food over to our table with two pieces of their special chicken to try!! Thoroughly recommended.

This little hole in the wall place has some seriously good food. Their Cuban sandwich is do die for as are the maduros. Came here recently and tried their steak sandwich and that too was amazing. This is my type of place...small, local with fantastic food!

I love this place. Great for lunch. Red beans are excellent. All the entrees are terrific. Make me hungry just writing this review.

This place was both highly reviewed on TA and recommended by the staff of the hotel I was staying in, so I decided to give it a try. I walked past the tiny hole-in-the-wall twice trying to find it, and it was crowded and very warm inside. Still, the staff were smiling and cracking jokes and the service was very fast and friendly, even in the middle of the lunch rush. Took me less than 5 minutes to walk out with fresh, hot food. I had the fried chicken chunks. They are chopped up, bone-in chicken pieces fried to perfection. I have never had them this way, but I am going back for more soon. Super good! The mixed rice was above average and I don't care for plantains, so I will be ordering different sides next time. The chicken was more than worth the $10 price, which is a bargain for Times Square. Looking forward to taking my girl there when she gets into town later this week.

This is the type of great hole in the wall restaurant you hope to find. It was recommended to me by a receptionist while in town on business. Staff was helpful in making recommendations, letting you try things. Food was plentiful and yummy, and with a lunch special, VERY affordable. This isn't fancy; everything is served cafeteria style, but if you like finding good food and don't insist on fancy presentation or "ambience" (other than the hustle and bustle of an obviously popular local spot), then this place is for you.

Very very tiny hard to find spot but food is very tasty. Fast service. Worth the trip if you are in mid-town.

We stopped at Margon's for lunch since it was just around the corner from where we stayed at the Times Square Doubletree and we had heard good things about it. The lunch selection was large and the food was delicious. The roasted chicken was tender and flavorful as was the pork chop. And of course the beans and rice was great. Recommended if you are looking for a good lunch at a moderate price.

We had our breakfast there. The staff were all friendly & helpful, the food well cooked & tasty. The filling American breakfast platter was just $5.50. I'd recommend the eggs over-easy rather than scrambled, but both were good - tho the over-easy were perfect. Basic, but good food & great value.

If you can find this place, hidden down 46th ave. just off of Times Square, you will be able to get some great Cuban food, at very affordable prices. Look for the big Havana Central neon sign, and Margon is across the street. The Cuban sandwich is great, as well as the roasted chicken and octopus salad. There can be lines at lunch time, and seating is limited, but you can get it to go. A nice option to all the overpriced and pretentious eateries surrounding the area.

By this I mean it is not fine dining. But the food and people are genuine! Cuban sandwiches, Cuban coffee were great to my taste! Try the black beans and rice also!

Service here is only along a hot table -- the room is too narrow for many tables and the place does a large take out and delivery business. The few tables are mainly in the back, crowded close together, and generally pretty messy by 1:00 in the afternoon -- cleaning up would be almost impossible in such a small space. The servers are all very helpful -- crankiness comes from the regulars -- and they work hard to be sure you know what is on special each day. Servings are pretty large, but I found the food to be pretty bland and not of the high quality of other Cuban restaurants in the City. However, if you are in the Times Square area -- only a block to the west -- and in the need of some Cuban chow, this one will do fairly well. As "New York" pointed out, you can get a good slice of Manhattan life, with publicists, well-gelled bankers, and other office types wait in line with bike messengers, construction workers, and the odd intrepid tourist making their choices of cafeteria-style Latin American fare.

Solid reviews on TripAdvisor and Yelp led us to Margon's, right off Times Square. A dive tucked away between a block of touristy places. Sure enough, we enjoyed perfectly prepared Cubanos and a chicken sandwich. $10 for a nice meal in nyc, I will take it.

Don't be fooled by the minimalist decor. This restaurant knows where to focus: food & service. Walked in for a take out breakfast. Was greeted with a friendly face to usher us into the modest looking restaurant, a nice smile by the cook behind the counter as well as the cashier at collection time. Made us want to sit and stay which we did. Service was relatively fast. While we waited we were entertained by the staff singing along to the Spanish music playing on the radio. We ate a Cubano which I strongly recommend. Large sandwich well worth the $10 i am not a fan of the deli meats, usually, but this pairing with pulled pork and sauce was excellent. I definitely recommend or would go back.

This place is certainly nothing fancy. In fact, it truly qualifies as a hole-in-the-wall joint. However, the food was delicious and fresh. It was also very reasonably priced. If atmosphere doesn't matter, check out this outstanding deal in the Times Square/Theater District area. Bonus: A clean (small) bathroom.

I love Margon! This was one of Mayor Ed Koch's favorite places...and it's no wonder why. It's pure New York, devoid of tourists, busy, bustling, inexpensive, crowded, tiny, and making the best Cuban food in the City, including the BEST Cuban sandwiches outside of Havana!

Delicious Cubano sandwich. There are lots of choices and sides. I went with the Cubano which is the recomended menu item at Margon. I received a chunk of chicken with it,, not sure why, but it was mighty tasty. I like funky dining locations.
