Great place for Spanish cuisine. There's something on this menu for everyone - meat & seafood. A fine variety of appetizers and a reasonably priced wine list. Lobster is king here but there are many interesting and delicious options.

There are thousands of restaurants in New York City. So many in fact, that any number of them would be suitable for a date night or a birthday dinner. Regardless of this fact, I continued to come to Francisco's Centro Vasco for every birthday or just any time my wife and I wanted to have a great lobster dinner. I never thought of any other place to take her. This was just where we always went. The large lobster claws hanging from the ceiling. The little card listing the size and price of the lobsters, the Spanish rice, Spanish chips. If I ever wound up on death row, this meal (along with a glass of Scotch) would be my chosen last meal. Closing so suddenly like it has this week is sad. I'm sure I'll find another restaurant to go but I think it will be hard to find one that will compare to this great place.

We have been going there for over 30 years. Always had the fantastic lobster. Today we learned that they have permanently closed. We are very sad and disappointed.

We went especially to this restaurant to try a lobster for the first time. This was a very good experience. Top-quality service and very tasty food. Even with a bottle of white wine that we ordered, the price tag for such a dinner was also very good. We will return on our next trip to NYC.

A welcoming, unpretentious old-fashioned restaurant, where the food and service are fine and the prices will not kill you. Come early, because it gets busy and reservations are taken only for large parties. Dinner only, I believe.

This has to be the most amazing lobster resteraunt you can find in the tri-state area!!! Typically, the larger the lobster, the rougher and more rubbery it is....but not with this place! They have how to cook lobster down to a science! If you go large like we did, these huge sea monsters are absolutely juicy and soft if you ask them to broil it! We like to have them bring out the lobster alive to see before they cook it which you can request and before you go call to see what their largest lobster is....they get none stop deliveries from Maine and is well worth the visit. If you want to order something that stops a New Yorker eating to come take a picture of your table....this is definitely the spot to make someone stop and say wow!

Met relatives for dinner on a recent trip to NYC. We had the lobster platter, X 2. When it comes to lobster (most seafood, really), freshness and a simple preparation are all it takes. Platter came with lobster cut up, so it was easy to extract meat. This is VERY IMPORTANT to me, because I am terrible at eating lobster or crab that is still in the shell. We were all comfortable to eat the lobster with our hands. From start to finish, their service was outstanding. The staff is attentive and friendly. They even tie the bib on for you! At the end, they provide warm towels and squeeze lemon on your hands so you can clean up. They met our numerous requests for refills of our white wine sangria (delicious and refreshing) and were available for other needs.

Francisco's Centro Vasco is known for serving lobster. It also has wonderful paella - both seafood and valenciana - as well as terrific shrimp dishes. Our entrees came with salads as well as bread. The mussels n the garlic sauce were a terrific appetizer. Very tasty sangria.

We got in fairly late on the train, made our way to the hotel, and needed someplace to grab some dinner. This place was just down the street from our hotel, so we decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did. Old-school Spanish fare and lobsters is always a winner in my book. The Paella Valenciana is great. A tiny bit spicy from the sausage, delicious fresh seafood, and saffron rice you'll want to take a bath in. It has a great, neighborhood vibe, and it would be a regular stop for me if I lived closer.

My buddy and I enjoyed a terrific seafood meal (he had lobster, I had scallops) and we ate like kings. The appetizers were great, the drinks perfect and the wait staff attentive without being overwhelming. We had a very good time and would recommend if you are in the mood for good seafood. Check it out!

Delicious food and the best buy for lobster in Manhattan! Our server suggested having the lobster broiled for more flavor. It was delicious though I wish they'd clarified the butter removing the milk solids. We had the chips (Saratoga type) and terif grilled green beans. We also had a tossed salad. Lots of food that was all delicious. Don't miss the Sangria. The best I've had! Wait staff was knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and informative. Centro Vasco is a small restaurant with a casual, relaxing, upscale atmosphere atmosphere. Would definitely return.

Everything looks delicious on this menu, but you have to go for the whole lobsters. They come in various sizes and are all market price. They give you a hand written list of live lobsters they currently have in stock. The biggest they had when I ate here was 7 lbs. But will lobster claws haning from the bar, it looks like their biggest one ever was 25 lbs. I got the 2 pounder. It comes with a salad, and a veggie. Go for the Sangria too. I will be taking my wife here next time I'm in NYC!!!!

My husband and I had dinner here for valentine weekend on Saturday. When we arrived it was so crowded we barely got in the door. It was almost an hour wait but well worh it. The seafood was so fresh . The sangria was excellent. I ordered the broiled platter it was to die for. It came with clams, mussels lobster king crab legs and shrimp all seasoned with garlic. I was dissapointed in the deserts. I ordered cheesecake and my hubby had the teramsu and they were not that great. I cant wait to return.

We had heard about this restaurant for many years and finally had the opportunity to try it. It was worth the long walk from our hotel – the lobsters were outstanding. Cute little restaurant with great service. The family style salad was delicious. Skip the crab legs – not very tasty and overpriced. Other menu items were average, but the lobsters were outstanding. We got the twin 1 1/2 lb lobsters and they were as good as described.! Can't wait to go back for the lobster!

Yes, you can travel to Maine, etc. But, you don't have to !!!!! This place is THE place for lobster. No place tops this ! And it's not only the lobster. The chorizo appetizer is fab, the side dishes with the lobster, from the rice, stringbeans to the fabulous spanish fries are all first class. Great staff, perfect service.
