At this restaurant, located smack-dab between Union Square and the historic Flatiron district and occupying a stylishly rusticated space inside the furniture emporium ABC Carpet & Home, Jean-Georges Vongerichten shines the spotlight on farm-to-fork vegetables.

High end farm to table. Gorgeous setting, fabulous food. Try the roasted portabello and celery leaves, shaved raw fluke, roast carrot and avocado salad, kale salad, red snapper, scallops, roasted asparagus.

Don't be fooled by the relaxed, casual atmosphere - eating here will require booking a table in advance! Jean-Georges Vongerichten brings incredible flavor to traditional dishes. Try the Roasted Pork T-Bone with Apple Meyer Lemon Puree! It's beautiful.

Jean-Georges Vongerichten's farm-to-table hot spot has brought local, healthy and environmentally-conscious cuisine to Flatiron where the dining room's always full.

The elegant, modern-rustic décor adds to the experience of downing a $10 smoothie. The cold pressed juices are outsourced (a result of an over-used juice press malfunction), but the blends are still authentic.

One of my fave places for brunch! Also, it's much easier to get a reservation here when you done between 11am and 4pm. The French toast is EVERYTHING.

I came here for a business dinner where, due to a complication, half the people didn't turn up so it could have been an awkward evening. But the helpful staff, delicious food (do try that crab on toast) and excellent wine (go for one of the Finger Lakes whites) eased away any potential embarrassment. Great, healthy but robust food. Lovely venue. I'd highly recommend it to someone new to town who wants that relaxed but seriously foody vibe NY does so well

Having been recommended this place by friends who live in the city, we booked a table a few weeks in advance. Contrary to some of the other reviews, we arrived for our reservation and were immediately seated at our table with no wait at all. The restaurant was busy and had a great atmosphere. Our waitress was lovely and answered all our questions and we went on to have a delicious meal. All dishes were beautifully presented and cooked.. in particular the calamari, tuna sashimi and sausage to start and the burger, ravioli and pork belly for mains were great. Fab night at a fab place.

We booked a table here off a recommendation from a friend of one of our party. So glad we did. The decor, ambience, vibe and particularly the food were excellent. Our waitress was knowledgeable, attentive and very friendly. The food was the star of the show with particular mention having to go to the crab toast, calamari and Black Sea bass - all delicious! For a restaurant of this quality in this area, the prices were very reasonable and the wine list was really good. Cannot recommend this little gem of a restaurant more highly.

ABC Kitchen is always jammed but I'm beginning to wonder why. Our meal was uneven, to be charitable. My fried chicken was half delicious (the dark meats) and half a hockey puck (the white meat). Surely a capable chef knows how to cook both kinds of chicken! The spinach pizza was thick crusted and soggy. The summer squash was excellent as was the Skuna Bay salmon. Angel hair appetizer was not al dente and a bit lifeless. The wine and waiter were excellent. The joint was noisy. Disappointing for the money.

The Beats, oh my god the beats. Every time I go to ABC I have a new experience and this time, it was the beats. Amazing food and be sure to save some time to shop when you are there. Very cool place.

So let me get this straight, 2 salads (salmon and shrimp on them), 1 wine, beets & crab toast = $135.00 (with tip)! For lunch, it doesn't add up! But it did and it was crowded and noisy. I just can't recommend the place no matter how much they pitch "farm to table" and "organic". The salads were heavy on the greens and light on substance. The service was ok but not attentive. To bad that I haven't found my "organic money tree." That's the only thing that would bring be back.

Had booked a table ahead of time. The front of the kitchen does not give u a nice impression about the inside nor the food...however, once inside all of ur perceptions and impressions are altered. Inside décor is simple, yet elegant. Comfy seating and easy to the eyes. Menu is simple and varied. Waiters all over the place and assist you swiftly when needed. Food of high quality and tastes really good. The only thing that I would change about this place is the lighting which is very dim, but I guess its part of the ambiance. Overall very nice and enjoyable experience

Tried to get a reservation for a long time and finally was successful. Noisy and hot (went in August). They brought bread and one radish cut in fourths for the table. (there were 4 of us) Our friend said, this is a good radish, so they brought another radish cut in fourths. How cheap can you get. Salads were good, nothing special. Fish was fine, again nothing special. Pasta was pasta. Dessert was the highlight of the meal, the peach pie was very good. Don't know why this is so "special". There are better places in NYC.

Had lunch outdoors in the new vegan restaurant.........I'm not vegan........and loved it. Foods were delicious and things I'd not eaten before. Three of us had lunch and we asked our server to bring 5 things for us to share. We were delighted.

A major part of eating a dinner out, at least for me, is how it stimulates my senses. That said, here is the result of my recent visit to ABC kitchen: hearing- it was so loud plus the frequent screaming from a large party seated behind me that I couldn't hold a conversation with my wife seated across from me; sight- it was so dark that I couldn't read my menu to order; taste- I had the fried chicken, which was delicious. So, all in all, it adds up to an average experience. Most likely, I wouldn't return.

A group of us went here for dinner, and it was amazing! I had the roast carrot and avocado salad, the pork confit, and sundae. Every dish had creative touches, and was incredibly well-made. The dishes my friends had were equally amazing. I would go back in a heart-beat!

we are New Yorkers and have eaten here 3 times each meal was excellent with polite and spot on service the only problem we have and this is common to most better NYC establishments it's imposible to score a table unless it's 5:00 or 10:30 (even then) our last meal here was about a year ago we've notice some recent reviews are very negative if possible we'll visit again and update

Young, hip vibe. A great meeting place for a friends lunch or dinner. The grand chef Jean George is involved with this modern hang out. Not a place for business meetings or romantic moments. Odd, mis-matching crockery make this place unique and eclectic. Decor is odd but works somehow and the place looks pretty. Food is good, nothing amazing. Odd menu choices mixed together, combining breakfast and lunch plates. Service friendly, no complaints. All ingredients are locally sourced and well explained on the menu. Very good to see the origins of the food you are eating.

My mum and I came to ABC kitchen on a recommendation from a friend. We enjoyed the ambience, experience and food for the most part, but our visit was let down by poor service by the trainee waiter pouring our wine. We were enjoying a lovely bottle of Albariño, and when there was a small amount (around half a glass) left in the bottle, the trainee waiter turned around and took off with the bottle. When we mentioned this to our actual waiter, he said that the wine had all gone and there was no way the trainee would have messed up. We declined deserts and left, based on the fact that we had such a poor experience with the wine. The food by the way was kind of standard - and as good as any food you would get in a similar modern, progressive, cool restaurant in LA, Sydney or London. Not the best I've had in the world but what would be expected. Prices were high but we knew that when we came. Overall I'd recommend this place but for the fact that the trainee waiter took away our wine and the actual waiter refused to acknowledge our complaint. We're not about to fabricate a story of this kind and as such I wouldn't head back there again. Nothing about this place was irreplaceable so I'd suggest if you want to be guaranteed a good experience, go somewhere else.

What a shame. The food was good but the service was terrible. The front of house seems really out of step with the kitchen. The reception desk was young, inexperienced, unprofessional and cold. And the wait staff is too thin to cover the number of tables they have. We had a reservation for 8:30, and even though there were more than a handful of empty tables, we weren't seated until 9:20. After waiting another 30 minutes for a server to even come to the table, I had to find the manager to place our order. Then we waited another 30 min for a simple plate of salami and cheese. At this point, we finally got the sympathy of the manager who assured us that we wouldn't have to wait for our main course, which then didn't come. In the end they showered us with free desserts which we didn't want and shouldn't eat. So with an 8:30 res, we left at midnight. End run? The cheese was exceptional but the bad service ruined the evening. I wouldn't go back

ABC Kitchen is no longer a positive dining experience. Sure, the food is good. The service has gone down hill each time I come here. ABC Kitchen is riding on the fact that you should be grateful enough just to have a reservation and be able to sit in their dining room--that is the feeling my entire party got on our most recent dining experience. The young man who brought us menus and asked our preference of water could not be more boring and rude. Each time he came back to collect dishes or drinks, I made sure to say "thank you," but he clearly looked like he did not want to be there and certainly did not want to give us any glimpse of happiness. Yikes. Our server was pleasant, but we rarely saw him. We were left alone when we needed another bottle of water and when we wanted to order more cocktails. And then it took about 15 minutes for our drinks to come, and our food beat our drinks to the table. Between courses, our plates weren't cleared and we had to ask for clean plates for the next course. Nothing about our meal seemed special. We seemed to be a bother and it was like we weren't made to feel welcome in their restaurant. I don't think I will be going back, and I'll make sure to inform other people to pass on ABC moving forward. You can get good food at many other NYC restaurants where they appreciate you being there--and where the reservation is much easier to make. Also, there was no soap in the bathroom. ABC has left a dirty taste in my mouth and on my hands.

Have been a couple of times before but this time the service was absolute a big disappointment. While food was as great as always the service was very mediocre- no smile , no extra explanation, dishes were forgotten and late and no apologies offered . It looks like the restaurant has gotten arrogant in its attitude to customers- maybe they forgot we pay the bills?

ABC consistently delivers great food and service; no dish was disappointing, with all falling somewhere from really tasty to awesome. The layout and decor makes it suitable for a special occasion or low key dinner. All the servers recommend the carrot salad and they're not wrong, the flavors of the dressing, carrot and greens go together really well. The pretzel calamari is also delicious; really fresh, tender and crispy. The pork confit was a surprise hit, with a couple great textures, nicely crispy on the outside and falling apart within, with candied bacon. The shiitake mushroom side was amazing.
