Perfect spot to walk the dog! All of the trees and side paths make you feel like you aren't even in the city

All along the pathways surrounding the lake you'll find local artists who on the spot will draw a portrait or caricature of you! Unique way to remember your time visiting NYC

Enjoyed a few drinks outside with a party of five at aprox 430 pm,at 5 pm I decided to make reservations for dinner with the front desk. The young lady at the desk informed me in a sarcastic tone "you dont need reservations just come back at six o'clock" When I went back at six the same woman tells me "we are all booked up but we keep a few tables available for walk ins if you want to wait over there under the painting but its first come first served"I said thats not what you told me before and she said well thats how it is.We all left in disgust and I will never go back.I believe that they probably cater to the elite upper class for bookings before tourists

We went to the boathouse for lunch on our recent visit to New York. We had a fantastic table at the waterfront. Our meals were lovely, my husband says his lunch, which was the spaghetti with seafood was the best in New York. The service was great and we weren't rushed at all. We were able to stay until until they were ready for the early dinner session. Would definitely recommend the boathouse the price was reasonable and the ambience was great. Perfect location for a lovely summer lunch.

Be sure to stop at the Central Park Boathouse just if it's even for a cup of coffee. Fun watching the people in the row boats and it gives you a place to rest your feet after walking through the park. A little pricey, but that's New York!

An incredible lunch aside, such as scallops drizzled in pumpkin~butter sauce, or fish that literally melts in your mouth, I always come away feeling drawn into the landscape of Central Park. It's like going back in time, with boats floating all around us in an effortless attempt to draw romance into this hour of perfection. But seriously, if you're a true romantic ... you don't want to miss this! Reservations are best. We tend to try to get the earlier lunch time, as it's a bit quieter and don't forget to request the lakeside view! It's impeccable and so worth your time!

We didn't have food here . My friends and I had some summer cocktails that were probably the nicest during our trip. The sun was shining and it was a great spot to watch the world go by .

This place is iconic NYC, and if you've seen a movie set in NY, you've likely seen this gem within Central Park. The view is lovely. The food was mediocre. My colleague and I had different fish dishes which sounded amazing, but fell short. Mine was filled with bones, so much so that I had to set the fish aside and concentrate on the items it came with instead.

Decided to skip an hour wait for a table and go to the take away area outside (seating available), it was fairly busy when we arrived but we didn't have to wait too long in the queue. Prices are reasonable and food quality good, we enjoyed the hot dogs and the roast pork sandwich was good too. Large portions of French fries, one portion is plenty for two. Overall would recommend.

Visited Central Park and the the MET Museum followed by a brunch at the boathouse. The food was really good and fresh and the waiter was attentive. As a person travelling alone, I appreciated being shown a table instead of the bar.

I went here for a meal with 15 family members on the day of my wedding. The food was good, I was happy with our table and view etc. and it is not excessively priced. However, the staff did not attempt to build a rapport with us, some didn't have great attitudes and I was quite disappointed that there was nothing offered by the restaurant to mark my day. I was spending a large sum of money and they knew in advance that it was a wedding party so a little gesture would have been appreciated. Whilst I am sure the restaurant is fine for s social meal, don't expect to be made to feel special if you are celebrating.

Uncaring and unfeeling. Tried to set up a special anniversary brunch for family members. Took me 3 days to get them on the phone only to be told that they don't take reservations. Ridiculous policy and very rude management style. Would not recommend them at all, ever. Scenic view from the windows does not make up for rude treatment and expensive and not all that special food.

Took my children to New York for Christmas. We headed out to Central Park for the day to find the statue of the dog from the movie Balto. Stopped to have lunch at the Boathouse, which was very crowded. Excited to discover that behind the boathouse was a wonderful attached coffee shop as well as restrooms. We were going to bee line it out of the park for something warm and a bathroom but was gently guided behind the beautiful boathouse. The coffee shop was warm and welcoming for our rainy day with a roaring fire. It served soup, sandwiches as well as coffee or tea. We even ate the pastries we purchased at Bouchon Bakery with our tea and hot chocolate. Very casual, comfortable and plenty of seats.

Where you want a quick and cheap burger and chips or a more up market sit down dinner the boat house has it, there's also a good choice on the menu.

This is a great place to grab a sandwich or something bigger if you prefer. We were looked after by Lisette who did a good job for us. We called in after hiring a rowing boat for a while and this is a very convenient place to eat. Nice clean surroundings and welcoming staff.

We stopped here for a bite to eat whilst cycling in Central Park. The main restaurant was really busy with over an hour wait time so we opted for a quicker self service Burger meal. The standard of the food was impressive for fast food. The views over the lake are impressive.

After a long fight this was the first place that we walked to from our hotel and we were not disappointed. On arrival there was a 20-30 minute wait but finding out that we had just had a long fight the front of house manager very kindly arranged for us to be seated at a perfect table in less than 5 minutes. Our drink and food orders were taken very quickly after allowing us time to make our choices. We were also able to order sides such as fries and additional sauces for our daughter to go with the mains that we ordered without any hesitation (items not on the menu) Our water was constantly topped up and bar drinks offered in good time without having to catch someone's eye. A large selection of freshly baked breads to choose from whilst your meal is prepared. Our three main meals were delicious!! Compliments to the chef!!! Our table was well placed with a glorious view of the lake. The boathouse was very busy but you still feel comfortable with the space between the tables. Service throughout was perfect and I would say matches the final bill. $200 for 3 people including drinks and service charge. My family and I will certainty be returning. Thank you for a perfect start to our city holiday.

Definitely a over rated tourist attraction. The view is beautiful, but it is over priced and service was mediocre. We waited for over an hour and a half to find out it is only brunch food with fish and chips(which they didn't have) and a chicken dish for a 2:30 lunch. My chicken dish was good but the other dishes were not worth the price and nothing special at all. It is worth a experience for the view but would never return.

We had been touring the park for hours and needed to have some lunch. This restaurant is located on a "pond" where people operate miniature sailboats. We had salads with a generous portion of cut up roasted chicken on them. We ordered at a counter and were fortunate enough to find a table. It was extremely busy.

Stopped here for drinks while in New York City from Boston. We enjoyed the outside patio with a beautiful view of the lake and Central Park surroundings. Only negatives, they only serve a cheese plate outside on patio. Wish they had other options. They also close the outside patio very early. We ended up going into the main restaurant for another drink and to watch the Kentucky Derby.

My friend and I visited NYC to meet Idina Menzel for a book signing and had time after to explore, we've both been to Central Park before but never experienced the row boating park of the lake. It was awesome. We weren't sure how expensive it would be, but it was really not a bad price at all and we ended up choosing an hour of boating which was more than enough time and we ended up having to race back haha! I would recommend this for anyone who wants a different NYC experience it was neat to see the skyline whilst row boating in the middle of Central Park, never did we expect to be doing that!

My family of eight had my birthday lunch here last month and was disappointed with the food. The outlook on the park is just wonderful and the service very friendly and efficient. The food quality is what let's this restaurant down and it was very disappointing. Out of our eight main meals only one of us thought it was worth the money paid. Food served cold and tasteless. I would not be racing back to the boathouse.
