What a wonderful atmosphere and incredible service! Brunch was delicious and the coffee extremely good! It is a family run cafe and it will not disappoint you! Enjoy

I've been for coffee, brunch, and lunch, and every time, I found the place charming, the staff pleasant and responsive, and the food remarkable for its flavors, freshness, originality, and presentation. At my last visit, I had the Market Plate, which was beautiful to look at and even better to taste. A central tower of quinoa was surrounded by small, tapas-like portions of foods I had never tasted, such as fern fronds, and pickled rhubarb. Sitting on top was a gorgeous and very tasty stuffed zucchini flower! I had not had stuffed zucchini flowers since my childhood in Italy. The interior of the restaurant is beautifully decorated (the outside is lovely, too, with tasteful plantings and patio). Every wall, shelf, and window ledge has something interesting to look at from bygone eras (antique typewriters, microscopes, etc). While clearly a big step up from typical college fare, the place does not takes itself too seriously, except for the attention give to food. Someone in the kitchen is having a wonderful time! I keep thinking this place is going to lose its luster and appeal, but so far, I have been very consistently delighted.

Great place for breakfast or brunch. The bread is very good. Had the Omelette, nice. Good ambience, warm friendly service.

High prices, uninspired food, and indifferent service. Every time I'm at the Carriage House, I come away thinking "I'm just NOT their target demographic." But perhaps you are! If you like french toast that is so thick that it looks like a doorstop, chuffed with flavorless brie, then the Carriage House might be for you. If you think paying a dollar a slice for a side of bacon is a good deal, the Carriage House might be for you. If you enjoy mixed greens drowning in olive oil, the Carriage House might be for you. If you view insanely limited parking as a plus, the Carriage House might be for you. If you don't find any of these features appealing, be smarter than I have been: Go elsewhere.

Carriage House Cafe offers an informal, relaxed atmosphere for pleasant meals with friends. Everything on the menu is carefully and artfully prepared. Prices are appropriate for its quality.

I went during the summer and it was not too busy. Portions were generous. Lots of great choices on the menu. Service was prompt.

This is the second time I've eaten at the Carriage House and I have not been impressed either time. We waited quite a while to order and another half hour for food which made for a lengthy lunch in the middle of the work day. Additionally, when we noticed a hefty service fee (not previously informed about) and inquired about it the server informed us that it is so the staff can make a living wage and told us to google a restaurateur in NYC that the practice was inspired by. All in all, it was an expensive meal for so-so food. We will not be back.

This is one of Ithaca's best small restaurants for good food, relaxed atmosphere and charming character--it's a re-purposed carriage house. It's the perfect place to meet friends for a meal; the seating and acoustics are conducive to conversation--two attributes often difficult to find in a popular eatery. Ingredients are local, fresh and expertly prepared. LImited parking in front, but street parking can be found within a couple of blocks.

I have eaten here twice now, both times entertaining parents visiting from afar. The food is creative and delicious, and leaves us very satisfied! My husband usually gets a sconewich or the breakfast sandwich, I get the featured omelet, my daughter gets scrambled eggs, and our guests have both gotten the featured strata. Parking can be difficult, so if members of your party have mobility problems, drop them off at the door to get on the list while the driver parks.

Coming back to visit Ithaca with college friends we were completely underwhelmed. We used to frequent this brunch location often. The food was not the same. It seemed very generic and bored. The service was fine enough. They just seem to have stopped trying.

THIS. IS. MY. FAVORITE. PLACE. IN. ITHACA. I don't give a lot of 5 star reviews. Even the reviews I give typically have at least one negative. I have no complaints about the Carriage House. After hearing about it, driving past, it and googling the menu countless times...I finally made the trip for brunch one day and have come back almost every weekend since. Brie French Toast. Everyone loves it. I did too. More than the great food, is the ambiance. The upstairs loft that they've renovated is absolutely gorgeous. I have been trying to find someone to go to happy hour with me just so we can sit in such a cute space... I had high hopes the first time I went to the Carriage House and they've yet to disappoint. Hopefully the trend continues.

First time here. The food was amazing !!!!!!!! There were 7 of us so we ordered and shared the food family style. The Brie Stuffed French Toast was awesome. We also ordered the Brioche French Toast and Sconewich and additional sides. The restaurant was the best. The service was excellent. Rustic atmosphere. Cozy. I can't say enough about this café. I will eat here again. The only complaint I have is the street parking. LOVE THIS PLACE.

Beautiful restaurant with fresh, local ingredients and a pleasant staff. The Bahn Mi sandwich was terrific. The meat strata was good, but not great. The salads were fresh and delicious.

Dropped by on a Tuesday morning for breakfast right at opening time - 9 am which seems a tad late. Chose the brioche French toast with berry coulis while my son had the Brie-stuffed French toast. Both were excellent but the plating could have been a little more elegant/appetizing. Not even a sprig of green or anything - a little naked! I also got the mochaccino while my son opted for a mug of hot chocolate. Both drinks were tasty and well prepared but it took a looong time to get them (we were the third party seated). Casual atmosphere and very cozy decor. Enjoyed this place and will return.

Carriage house is a little overpriced cute restaurant. I'll definitely be back for Sconewich. If you want a little spicy dish, go for Pulled Pork.Food quality is very good. Ambiance is very good, Service is very fast but always crowded. waiting time 25-30 minutes if you are there on weekends.Getting parking space is bit difficult.

Carriage House is a charming, rustic cafe with field stone walls, hardwood beam floors and wrought iron tables. We visited around 2:30 pm so we missed having to wait in line with the typical lunch crowd. The cafe was only about 2/3 full of people and it was a bit noisy due to all the hard surfaces, so I can imagine it would be very noisy when completely full. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. Our food arrived in a timely manner, giving us a good amount of time to enjoy conversation and our drinks (I recommend their Cold Brew Coffee) in the rustic atmosphere. Our food was tasty but only one dish stood out as spectacular - the Brie-Stuffed French Toast - large slices of Brioche bread stuffed with slices of brie cheese and berry coulis then topped with real maple syrup. We also enjoyed our other two dishes - Strata of the Day (kind of like a very eggy bread pudding) and a Vietnamese Banh Mi. Overall a very pleasant meal with a charming atmosphere. Definitely plan to go back again.

This is a really cute restaurant, and we had a nice breakfast here. We both got breakfast sandwiches - the vegetarian one came with a tasty sundried tomato spread. They also have lots of good choices for coffee drinks. It's a very nice little spot. I thought it was a tad overpriced for what you get, but enjoyed it overall. The service was great.

The food is good; the wait is not worth it. I think the reason it is always so busy is that it sits at the bottom of the hill from Cornell.
