Beer nerd alert: this is officially your Mecca. Denmark’s Evil Twin Brewing maestro Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø opened this bar in the Polish district of Greenpoint in 2013 and its been packing in the beer afficionados ever since. They have dozens of brews on tap and a so-called “Flux Capacitor” that makes sure the draughts are served at the perfect temperature. The setting is Scandinavian minimalism at its best, which is currently all the rave in hip Greenpoint.

The 21 beer taps at Torst are temperature controlled and the CO2 and N2 content of each beer is adjustable. The handles of each tap reflect to color of the beer it serves so a quick look is all you need to find your new favorite brew.

Be aware that Torst has a minimalist approach to things. A significant range of craft beer in bottles & a good selection on tap. However, no wines, no cocktails and a very small food menu to choose from. Still a great bar with an interesting decor.

If you love craft beer and want to spend 6:00$ for a wine glass with 4oz in it then this is your place . There is also a freak show of clientele that frequent this place, guys that are more feminine then my sister.

My friends love this place so we all met up on a sunny Saturday. They came fairly early in the day, which is recommended because it gets packed very quickly and you can't make a reservation. It was a gorgeous day so they had the giant window in the front open, which was so lovely. They have a sort of small scale beer hall vibe going inside with long tables. Torst has an enormous selection of beers, and a few ciders, on tap. It changes every day so every time you go, you can see a whole new menu. When they finish a beer, they come by and stamp it out on the menu. Which told me that they print all new menus every day. The environmentalist in me cringed at this. Even if it's on recycled paper, such a waste. Jezebel. I urge Torst to find a more sustainable way to show and describe their beers. Maybe a digital medium at the tables? Anyway... There is a beer for everyone here. There a small descriptions under each beer which are moderately helpful with making a choice. One really cool thin here is that you can get a 5oz sample (for a cost) to try the beer and then go on to get a larger size if you enjoyed it. The prices are on the higher end, but pretty much what you would expect for a craft beer. I did not try the food but my friends got some meats and cheese and throughly enjoyed them. There is also a crafted "bar food" selection in the restaurant in the back. I would come back here!

We dropped by this place while visiting Brooklyn, and enjoyed great beers and great service from the knowledgable staff here. This venue is perfect for anyone with an interest for craft beer, and want to try out and experience different types of beers. They also have a food meny and can easily pair foods with the beers. You will not be disappointed with visiting Tørst!

Great beer bar in Brooklyn. The selection is awesome and I tasted some really good beer. The prices are relatively expensive but in line with what you would expect for great craft beer. As a plus the snacks and side plates are very nice and the staff is super friendly. Great place!

A bright, spacious taproom with a great selection of beers. The bartenders were friendly and helpful. They offer three sizes, from small sample glasses up to 14 ozs. There was plenty of seating. A great place to relax and try a few new brews.

This is a great place in Greenpoint, very close to the G train. We ran into Brooklyn with Torst as our finish point. Pick your menus at the bar and sit at the tables or the bar. Very efficient bartender. You order at the bar irrespective of where you sit. You carry the beers back on your own, the food is brought out by the staff. The have a good variety of beers. Good food. Particularly loved the sourdough bread which came piping hot from the oven with whipped butter. It's not inexpensive, but it delivers.

Awesome tap room - great environment and service. And a fantastic beer list. All types well represented. Evil Twin obviously a favourite. Many Imperial Stouts and barrel aged beers when I was there. Quite busy even at 3pm on a rainy January weekday. Hours of operation in TripAdvisor totally wrong. Check google.

While over from London in May we were taken to Tørst by a Brooklyn native beer expert! This place is for real craft beer connoisseurs. A small but very cool, nice looking bar with a good local crowd and a buzz about it. The drought beers are served from numbered taps on the back wall behind the bar so you just choose a brew from the detailed menu and pick a number. I settled on an easier session beer in the No.3... I did try that day's No.1 initially but it wasn't for the faint-hearted, far too hardcore for me! All in all a great few hours listening to good tunes, drinking quality ale :) Definitely recommend.

Tørst is a casual bar with a scandinavian-ish design. Wooden walls, and simple furniture. We enjoyed a nice confited duck sandwich with spicy cabbage and pickled cucumber, together with tasty beer that the staff recommended. A good stop to make when you're in Brooklyn.

Not much of a beer drinker, prefer wines, but they take it very seriously here so if you want a guided lesson and learn to appreciate the vagaries of different tastes and styles, this would be the place to learn and enjoy.

Nice selection of beer. Friendly staff. Scandinavian decor. Narrow room - difficult to navigate the aisles when crowded. Nice scene.

You will almost miss this place walking down the street, but don't because it is definitely worth a stop! They have an awesome beer list including know beer distributors like Mikkeller and Evil Twin. Also they give you a choice on the pour size so you can try a variety. The decor is definitely Scandinavia with the wood work and design on the glasses. The food is very limited, but the trout dip on Danish rye bread is very tasty. If you are tired of the regular sports bar with the same list of beers - this place is a hidden gem.

They put the fancy into beers. Great selection of beers on tap and they all come out in fancy wine glasses. They know there beer there. Bartenders are professionals. Worth a visit,

I can't give the beer lossy enough accolades. It is fully incomparable. The staff knew the details of every beer and let you taste them. I would sit at the bar if possible. The only real negative thing here is that you have to nudge between customers to order if you aren't at the bar.

Torst has one of the best beer buyers in the business. In a city full of excellent beer bars, Torst manages to raise the bar even higher. We only get to Torst a few times a year, but often check their beer list on beermenus when looking for new brews to try from our local bottle shop. Aside from the beer, the space is simple, but well-designed with a scandinavian bistro vibe with white marble and rustic wood. The bar menu is small, but delicious - great cheese and charcuterie boards, danish "brod" and sandwiches. It's always been crowded when we've visited, but servers are consistently friendly and attentive.

Torst is a very nice Beer bar but the real surprise is the hidden restaurant in the back where you can get a fantastic tasting menu with a super nice beer pairing.
