Surf Bar's sand floor has managed to survive the Great Williamsburg Bar Purge, and you can still spend weekends and evenings pretending you're getting drunk in Encinitas instead of on North 6th Street.

Looks like a small crabshack from the outside that is playing music but I think thats the point. Upon entering, there is sand everywhere on the floor and bamboo tables, and a bar which gives it a real tiki vibe. The service is great and the cocktails were lovely. The food was also really nice but unfortunately I felt there was a lack in vegetarian options. I know its a seafood place but it could be a bit more imaginative.

Came here for drinks the night of July 3rd & it was such a good vibe here. I LOVE the fact that there was sand throughout the restaurant & the backyard of the place was such an "Island" vibe. It also didn't hurt that drink (for 4) was tasty & strong and the music was good. My friends, Wife & I were able to talk about everything under the sun, laugh, drink & enjoy the beautiful Summer Night. We ended staying until 1am. Next time, we'll come here for Food AND Drinks!

Quite quaint - there for Sunday lunch early at midday - place was empty so nice to have back courtyard to ourselves. Had virgin Pina Colada's and shrimp tacos - also best sweet potato fries Nice service and atmosphere Would go back if I lived in NY

The service was terrible. The bathroom was nasty, like a subway. Hello Surf Bar. After waiting over an hour to get our order, we were given a free round of drinks on the house. The only positive . My friends both were sick after dinner. Done in by either the shrimp taco or the fish burrito. There are better places in the neighborhood.

it's amazing, they bring the beach into the city! the floor is covered with sand and the whole ambiance is just really amazing, there is also lot's of surfboards hanging down the walls! it's a nice place to go have drinks and chill! (try the frozen mojito)

Best. Shrimp. Taco. Ever. Its that simple. Ive had a LOT of shrimp tacos in my day, this one wins hands down. I've had ones after this one and still it reigns supreme. decent margaritas too. but trust me you need to eat this taco before you die.

This bar is so cool! You walk in and immediately feel as though you are at the beach. The back patio is awesome, and the drinks are delicious.

Love the concept, really made me feel like I was near the beach. However, they were apparently understaffed. Waited over 10 mins to get greeted. Drinks took even longer (got them as we were eating apps). I wanted mussels as my main course, they were out. Got the calamari was very overcooked (hated sending them back, but overcooked calamari or steak is not something I can eat) gave the menu another look, asked for mussels , surprise , they were out. At that point I just gave up on eating anything . The waiter was very nice, but with so many other options in Brooklyn , not sure I'd return. It's a shame because this restaurant had come well recommended and I had look forward to going all week.

Sand covered floor, dried grass fringed doors and a warm welcome. Dined here with my daughter. The menu isn't massive, but was more than adequate for our needs. The clam chowder was amongst the best I have tasted and I thoroughly enjoyed a fish burrito. My beer order arrived without a glass - very laid back, but was quickly rectified upon request. Wine by the glass was fine. We walked in on a weekday and were seated immediately, but I would think it will get very busy at weekends. It deserves to.

Walking the streets looking for some where to drink, found surf bar was really cool and funky. It has an awesome happy hour so we stopped by to have a drink, multiple drinks later we left very happy. Service was great drinks even better.

The drinks were what you would expect from a surf/tiki themed bar, can't say it was very exciting. Narrow bar area with few seats and small tables, but nice outdoor area on a good night. Cocktails sweet, some interesting items on the menu. Didn't love the place because you get sand in your shoes...

We used to go there very often. It is a sweet little bar with a great garden hidden inside. The strawberry mojitos are always great, service is very nice and the atmosphere is very chilled! The food menu is also nice, worth a try. I really recommend this place which is always full of surprises!

This place has changed in the past year. I think it is the owner or chef. The sand is always nice and atmosphere is great but drinks were better and the food is now just bad. Sad but times have not been good to surf bar. Steak was terrible and expensive. Calamari was good tho. Drinks were weak and the waiter was very bad. No refills, didn't know the menu, and seemed just confused the whole time. No steak knife for my rubber steak and no ketchup for my fries. D-

Love the Surf Bar !! Don't let the decor of this hidden gem fool you --- the food is legit, the drinks are yummy , and the staff is always attentive and friendly. There almost once a week - you can't beat this spot. Taco Tuesday!!!

Delicious frozen mojitos and pain killers! They've also got a nice outdoor area. The sand on the floor is a nice touch and adds to the decor.

We stumbled upon this rad little bar while cruising the streets in Brooklyn. This is the perfect spot for beach meets dive bar lovers combo. The outside appears to be this little dive shack. Upon entering, you are greeted with a bit sign that reads ALOHA. You can't help but to want to remove your shoes, because the floor is manmade sand to give that beach like effect. They offer many different beer & drink selections and for a great price. Food is served as well, we didn't have much time so just stopped in for a drink. Will definitely return to this little spot again

While I haven't had much food here besides fries, it is one of my favourite places to visit when in Brooklyn. The zombie drinks are extremely tasty and you only need 1 to get pretty tipsy. Very affordable option for drinks in an expensive neighbourhood! The sand floor throughout also makes you feel like you left NYC and landed on an island.
