Roller skating in the summer, ice skating in the winter. Smorgasbord has a Sunday location here spring through fall. Extensive sprinkler area for kids. Also has boats and bikes for rent.

Set on the southeastern part of Prospect Park, right next to the lake, the LeFrak Center at Lakeside is a recreational hub offering ice-skating in winter and roller-skating in summer (don't miss the roller disco on the weekends).

Very disappointing bike rental. More expensive than most bike rentals in NYC and bikes in horrible condition. Bikes looked excellent on website but all beat up and poorly maintained. I had to switch bikes and even second bike not really acceptable. Gears slipped and only 4-5 worked. No lock and basket in such poor condition, items feel through. Will never rent from there again.

The first day we went ice skating the rental skates were a little bit beat up but managed to skate. On the next days the skates were awful. Even after returning two pairs they were still not good. Very uncomfortable and the skates were dull, therefore almost impossible to skate. The last day was a sunday and just terrible.

Yes I saw in the past years the park added skating it's good. A nice place and a special clean guest service but for. The park it self it would be better with out that noise going on I like more quite in a park my suggestion is to plant trees around the whole area

Lefrak Center at Lakeside is a great place to sit and relax while taking a stroll through Prospect Park. The man made lake is so calm and serene you'll forget you're in a bustling city. Want activities? There's ice skating (in season), roller skating, boating, and walking around the lake. It's a wonderful way to spend a sunny afternoon.

First time ice skating and I had no clue it was so difficult. My son got the hang of it faster than I did. Because of the time of the year there was no other activity at the time but only ice skating But I must say it's very beautiful

An old fashion place to skate - great family fun. Attended a birthday party and it was so much fun. The adults had more fun than the kid. Who would expect dual ice rinks - one covered, one outdoors. The views were amazing and the surrounding architecture was beautiful. Concession food was good - a little pricy ( but it's New York) Friendly staff. I would love to return in late spring/early summer just to walk through park

They finished the new rink last year and with this year's addition/opening of the free parking lot close by, this is a totally lovely place to visit and a nice place to skate. For those of you who don't know, the rinks sit right off prospect park lake. The pretty lake was made even prettier by a remodel of the shoreline and a clean-up of the paths and walks adjacent to the rink. Famous composer statues beam down as you walk from the lot to the rink, passing near the carousel. The rinks themselves are unique. One is your traditional hockey rink dimension, roofed over but open on the sides. The other rink, connected to the bigger rink, is small and circular, open to the sky, and butts up against the lakefront for a beautiful scenic view. I remember and loved the old rink, but this one is worlds apart better. The only down side is the tiny closed in changing area. The old locale sported a big old friendly barn of a changing room, with free lockers and plenty of benches. The new space for changing is tiny with few benches, and the lockers are pay per use. On the plus side, the rink and rentals are reasonably priced and parents can come and not be charged to enter if they only want to watch their kids. A great place for a date or family outing. We didn't try the snack bar but it seemed much nicer and with a better menu than the old place.

This is the coolest people place. Perfect for single parents to link up and meet other parents and their kids. Also, the snack bar and restaurant appeal to grab and go kiddie style or the hipster foodie with quinoa bowls, local brews, and yep a real actual glass of wine to sip and soothe those muscles after a friendly swirl. I went on Martin Luther king day with my 3 year old who is a beginner, a little busy for newbies ( duh MLKD, really?).

This is one of the few places that successfully handles the change of seasons. In winter the dual ice rinks, one covered, one outdoors (my favorite with its delicate oval shape) and the curbside cafe are a terrific place to spend the day. Their music selection is good too. In summer, Lakeside transform into a "splash pad" where kids can -really- splash around and run screaming for sheer joy. Old fashion rollerskating is below the rood. Add to this all the most beautiful park views and amazing architecture of this section of Prospect park and you will have a tremendous destination. We love it. The food at the concession is good too, and the staff friendly.

I couldn't get over how a new rink can have such skates! The hooks were broken on many of them so you could not tie them properly and it affects the way you skate. We kept exchanging them but we were just choosing the best out of a pathetic bunch. When I asked the guy behind the counter he's like, "They're all like that." We also went on a beautiful balmy Sunday in December. The line was literally a MINIMUM half hour wait! Recommendation: Go very early or go on a weekday. Once we actually got into the rink though, it was beautiful!

Lefrak Center at Lakeside in Prospect Park is the new skating and water play complex alongside the lake. In the summer, the uncovered half of the skating rink turns into a water play area with playful jumping water jets. Bicycle rentals, canoe and pedal boat rentals are available. This is the first year for these summer activities. There are 3 party rooms and about a dozen large, covered picnic tables alongside the water play area and the café. We held a birthday party for my 12 year old here. The event coordinators in the office and on site were absolutely fantastic. We’d booked picnic tables and a pre-selected menu of wonderful food for the kids for a very reasonable (by NYC standards) fee. It was raining when we got there and they upgraded us to a party room no extra charge. The room had a view of the water play area, table clothes and tables for about 20 people. The food was wonderfully presented, plentiful (we took some home) and delicious. All paper goods and utensils were provided. When the sun came out and we wanted to stay beyond our allotted 2 hours, they moved us out to the picnic tables no extra charge, to enjoy the water play area. We rented the pedal boats on the lake as well, which was a separate fee. It could’ve been a washout but the Lakeside staff made it one of the best birthday parties we’ve had!
