I stopped into Bed-Stuy Fish Fry on 9/20/2017. I t was very busy when I went in and that was a very good indication. My order was simple I orders fried whiting and chips(Fries). My buddy ordered fried Shrimp and Catfish. Some folks have stated the food is under seasoned. While I say its just right. The whiting was soft and flaky and not salty. When paired with the salty checkers like fries and was actually a delicious combination. The hot sauce and the tarter sauce were nothing to rave about but the meal was good. My buddies meal was equally delicious. I will be returning. As a matter of fact I may have to make excuses to return. It's definitely worth the trip.

I tasted fish from the BedStuy Fish Fry at a party that got a portion of its catering from there. When I tasted the fried fish, I was not aware that it was not homemade. The golden batter was subtle and light yet tasty but not overwhelming. The fish was fresh and was not over cooked like fried fish served at most restaurants. The only downside about the BedStuy Fish Fry is that they do not accept debit/credit cards, so make sure you stop by the ATM before heading there to avoid the mistake that I made attempting to drop in for lunch.

The food needs more seasoning. And they need an AC! Lol Will I come back, maybe Quick food, fresh...... Just a normal NYC storefront... Not a sit down restaurant.

This spot is ok. I mean it's decent. However, the device is horrific. And the spot is pretty much super Ghetto. No upscale in this at all. Soul food in taste, Chinese food in disposition.

Ordered first time "by the pan" arrived to pick up the order and was handed 2 large pans of fish, 2 large pans of rice and the person was annoyed that I wanted a bag! They did not prepare the order in advance and we had to go back for the condiments. Gave it a second chance and again had to fight for the condiments. They can invest in large shopping bags! If you have to order a day in advance then prepare the order in advance for condiments and napkins. The fish is excellent, well seasoned and not salty. But I won't use them again for large orders.

I came here based upon a recommendation but only had time for carry out. The atmosphere feels super chilled and I will return during evening hours later this week. As for the carry-out my food came quickly (15 minutes) and stayed warm during the 15 minute haunt home. The fish was well seasoned and the cheesy grits were pure southern heaven all of which I QUICKLY and happily devoured. I strongly recommend the food here and like I said I will be returning for a sit down dinner later in the week. I had a great experience.

I love their food but most times it takes a long time to get your food (but it's worth the wait) and they don't accept debit/credit card. They have an atm machine. This is a problem for me because I usually don't carry cash. And my stupid bank charges me a fee for withdrawing money at atms that is not affiliated with my bank. So the atm machine charges me AND so does my bank. That's an inconvenience. Why not charge people on their card directly through your POS? Get with the times. It's 2015! So because of these reasons, they did not earn 5 stars with me.

Please do not visit this restaurant! I ordered my food for takeout at 7:53pm, arrived at 8:30pm, and I still did NOT receive my food until AFTER 9:15pm. When they brought my food out, it wasn't even what I had ordered. Besides that fact, the food was cold and under seasoned. The "potato salad" was watery, the fried lobster was dry with a fishy aftertaste, and both the catfish and shrimp were bland but somehow salty at the same time. The food was trash overall, please save your money.

My husband and I went on Monday 1/12 to the location on Fulton St. It was amazing!! I follow them on Instagram and all the pics of their great food really caught my attention... I've been wanting to come so my hubby surprised me. We had the Fried Lobster Rasta Pasta which was delish..we also had fried whiting fried shrimp Mac n cheese and greens which was all soooo good. The corn bread taste like a cake ummm and to wash it all down we had some slamming Kool Aid. We will definitely be back...can't wait.

I live in the neighborhood so I eat here at least once a week. The wait can be long but the food is cooked fresh not sitting under a heat lamp. It's great food at an affordable price and they pile on the food so you're not getting cheated out of your money.

Before getting into the service aspect of the review--which is the reason for the poor review--I will note that the food was pretty good. While the fish wasn't thoroughly cleaned (there were some scales and unnecessary parts of fins still on the body), the flavor was pretty good, as were the hot sauce and tartar sauce. Not to mention the macaroni and cheese and macaroni salad were great. However, as touched on above, the service left a bad taste in my mouth. When I got into the establishment (which is a cash-only location, at least for the Fulton Street location), I ordered the above fish dinner as a take out option and went to a single table adjacent to the bar to wait as my meal was prepared. I was not at the table for 2 minutes before a waitress walked up to me and asked if I was dining in. When I responded that I was not, she informed me that the area I was sitting in was only for customers dining in and ordered me to wait in the front of the restaurant. At this point, she closed the "dining in" area off with a rope, which was not closed until that point. This left a very bad taste in my mouth, and I felt that the requirement was rude and showed a lack of appreciation to the customer. I could understand the requirement if the restaurant was bustling, but this was mid afternoon and the "dine in" area was nearly empty. Surely, they could have made an exception under these circumstances, particularly in the interests of retaining business. While I am willing to somewhat look past not-so-great food if the service was superb, I am not willing to do the reverse. I can't say that I won't order food from this establishment in the future, but I definitely did not feel welcome.
