Ultra casual, beloved Montclair institution. Great burgers, Fish & chips, live music upstairs.

Tierney's is a great spot for beer and burgers. Their onion rings are really good. No frills, inexpensive, and fun for a small group of friends.

Enjoy the paper plates. Embrace the burger with 2 hands and be brave enough to get the cheese fries. Great beer selection. A bit noisy when the juke box cranks up.

We live across the street and this is a great place to stop for a drink. Don't expect anything fancy, but the beers are priced well and wine is OK too. Always a friendly crowd and attentive bartenders. But if you're hungry, go somewhere else - the food isn't very good, even when you're inebriated.

Probably one of the best burgers around and the onion rings aren't bad either. I prefer medium for a fried burger. Excellent selection of Draft beers. Tierney's hasn't changed much in 50 years but if your in the mood for a burger, beers and a game with friends it's tough to beat this establishment. Often have fun bands like Cranetown that play upstairs which makes place even more special as local watering hole.

Montclair is a pretty eclectic town that is know for it's restaurants and places to go. Tierney's is one of the main establishments that defines Montclair. First off, it's been around forever. Anyone that has been in or around Montclair will always have a great Tierney moment, one of the reasons why people who discovered it when they were in college are still coming back in their 60's. It's a family run bar and they make everyone feel comfortable. Tierney's is not an upscale joint, it's the neighborhood place you will meet friends for a drink after work, take the kids for a burger on a Saturday or drop in to see a band or the Sunday comedy show. The current generation of Tierney's running the bar do a great job of running events that make you want to stop by. They run a music festival in the summer, are the place to go for St Patrick's day in Montclair (they do a mean corn beef) plus comedy shows, charity events and are very involved with the community. If you're new to Montclair or just visiting, stop by Tierneys. You won't regret it and I can guarantee that you'll be back. Check out their website for upcoming events Oh, and try the Guiness, best pour around

A friend invited me to go to a Tierney's Tavern on a Sunday evening for a comedy show. This is on the second floor and they had a pretty descent crowd. They serve your typical bar food and the three comedians were great. It was an enjoyable evening.

Beer and burger that's all folks.... Onion rings were great, service friendly but out of the 12 of us the first 4 ate after about 15 from ordering, the last 8 of us ate at least 45 minutes later, it was lunch and not that busy. Guess the kitchen was on a break.

We had dinner in the pub before the comedy show. The food was great - everything you'd expect at a pub. If we lived closer I could see this being our Sunday football bar. After dinner we headed upstairs for the comedy show headlined by Sandy Ehlers, she is so funny! We haven't laughed that much in a long time.

Place smelled like stale beer then, and it still does now! I'm Irish so I can say it. Its a typical Irish drink till you drop bar. Yea, maybe the hamburgers are ok, but is a drinking bar. Oh yea, you don't notice the smell after a few beers! Enjoy!!!

I have been coming to Tierney's since my college days..... over 40 years ago! It is always as I remember it! We are not talking cozy or fine dining but I have circled the globe and this may be the best Beer & Burger place I've been to in the entire world! They have TV's enough to keep you updated on any sport and the bar itself is just a classic. My father would have loved to make this his "local" and I would too if I lived closer.

We're from out of town and stopped in for a couple beers before a show at the Wellmont. Great place! Would love to hang out. If in town again, we will definitely stop in and grab a bite to eat. Burgers coming out look amazing!

I recently moved to Montclair and went to Tierney's on the suggestion of a close friend. We went with our children. I have to say, a solid find. The food was good, and cheap and everyone was satisfied. Didn't realize until the bill came that its cash only, but no big deal. Looking forward to hanging out with some friends at the bar and catching a game!

This is a family-owned restaurant with great burgers and bar food. The type of people are regulars, varying from white collar to blue collar but everyone is accepted. For Montclair, it's the least yuppie, most sincere place in town. Truly a hometown bar.

Great, informal bar atmosphere. They've been around forever. The great burgers and onion rings (oh, and the chili is to die for!!) and drinks with reasonable prices make this a must visit for casual fare and drink.

If this place was in Ireland, it would be your beloved local pub. Good beer on tap, really good burgers. Music upstairs on the weekend. It's not pretentious. It's where you go to meet friends and maybe run into someone you haven't seen for a while.

Hardly changed since it opened back around prohibition days, this suburban New Jersey Tavern offers the real deal. Good burgers, great drinks, real people. No gossip, pretense or bull and prices are good too. Plus there's an upstair room with music, comedy and even poetry. No wonder it's been a local fave for generations.

Tierney's is one of my favorite watering holes in Montclair. Not only do they have a good drink list and a colorful crowd, but their burgers are fantastic. Reminds me of the Corner Bistro burgers in the West Village. Just killer. No fancy frills at Tierney's, just a rock solid bar that happens to have good food.
