My husband and I have been visiting Durham for a month. This restaurant is a short walk from where we are staying. We've enjoy lunches at Geer St. Garden 3 times. Not a single so-so meal yet. Today we both ordered the special of the day, Chicken Piccata with green beans and risotto. Absolutely delicious with just enough finely diced garlic on top. Wish I'd thought to take a photo when it first arrived, but this is my plate after 4 or 5 mouth-watering bites! Indoor and outdoor seating available. Highly recommend Geer St.

Recently tried this place again, and I want to love it. Unfortunately, I never quite do. The service was better this time than it was in the past, when I tried it previously. The food was reasonably good, but certainly not great. Tried the chicken tamale plate (two tamales, with black beans, and some toppings. Also tried the sangria, which was largely disappointing. Way too heavy-handed on the cinnamon. With so much great food in Durham, I was left disappointed. I'm left un-convinced, and will go elsewhere.

Great service and drinks. Food is standard, good-not great. Had Cobb salad-meh, average. Burger, ok- didnt knock our socks off. Fish tacos got strong thumbs up. Jalapeno hush puppies were tasty.

After 10 hours of driving and a three story apartment walk-up move-in, this was the perfect place to relax, eat a very tasty meal and enjoy a craft beer in a very comfortable friendly environment with very efficient service.

We've been coming to Geer St Garden for a while now (food is always delicious), but the last two times we've been the service from the waiter has been awful. Very inattentive, slow, and had to ask for our checks each time. Also, during our last dining experience there, we were seated outside at a picnic table next to some greenery with quite a few orange flowers blooming. It was beautiful at first, but upon closer inspection there were hundreds of tiny black ants crawling along each vine into each orange flower (some flowers were even hanging over our heads). Ants were also crawling on the table we were eating on and on the bench we were sitting on as well. I understand that it's summertime in the south and we're going to have bugs outside, but the amount of ants crawling around and dangling above our heads that evening was really disturbing.

An interesting restaurant in what used to be a gas station. We found it to be very noisy though, however we were greeted and seated promptly. Our server was polite and friendly. We had some fish tacos and they were excellent! My wife had the gazpacho and she loved it and said it was some of the best she's had. I loved the food and would give it more stars, but it's downright noisy there! The parking lot is sparse and it 'maybe' has room for 6-8 cars.

Delicious sangria was an unexpected twist. Also a lot of yummy local beer options. All the food is southern inspired (mmm haystacks!!) and not the healthiest maybe, but a more refined and upscale way to enjoy southern food.

Came here for lunch with a party of 7 plus a baby. Limited seating (the one big table was taken) inside for a larger group (too hot outside for the baby), so we split up at booths. Food was great -- the parmesan risotto cake with black-eyed pea salad was crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside and the pea salad full of freshly chopped herbs. It's nice that they have gluten-free bread available for sandwiches. Others in the party had the club sandwich and fish tacos, all praiseworthy. Also, the fries are fantastic!

We picked this place because it is dog friendly outside. It's a great place to sit and enjoy the spring weather and the sandwiches were too big to finish, although we tried very hard because they were so good. The bathrooms are shielded by a wall of gender designated doors (men, women), but the actual bathrooms are single person units with no designation, so we were not required to show our birth certificates to use them. [That law has since been repealed.]

We're frequent patrons and enjoy the opportunity to update after a recent visit. Great outside picnic table seating remains a wonderful attraction all year round. Love starting off with a local hard apple cider from among the solid local brew options. Tonight we shared a fantastic brie and avocado sandwich on a perfectly crusted banquette and their baby back rib special with delicious green bean side and red potato salad. The ribs were good with an interesting tangy sauce. Next time I'd stay with the regular menu items but quality remained standard of excellence. And to finish our shared meal we had the best strawberry shortcake. Fresh local organic strawberries with not too sweet shortcake and just the right amount of freshly made whipped cream. Geer Street is a high quality food pub that has remained consistently good over many years. And service continues to be excellent. Highly recommend when visiting downtown area.

Geer St. is a happening place where you can always get a good meal. With a changing, seasonal menu and a good variety, this is a great restaurant for lunch or dinner. Also a full bar and lots of friendly staff. Try the fried green tomatoes! One of the best burgers in town.

We stopped for lunch here yesterday and found a really good fried chicken and sourdough waffle plate. The sourdough waffle was lighter than other places and the fried chicken was juicy and well presented. Complimented by pecans and butter this was an unexpected good meal.

For some reason my food didn't look as good as it does in all of the photos. It was fine, but for the price I thought it was a little overpriced. Don't go here if you want to be able to have a conversation. It's loud and funky, which is why I said I'm not cool enough for this place. The food is not bad, so if you like this type of place, go for it!

I visited with a group of friends and we were fortunate to get the one larger table inside. The food was excellent, but I will say there isn't a large selection, so hope they have something that calls to you. The atmosphere was good, not too loud since they don't accommodate many inside. Perfect for some conversation, drinks, and dinner. Parking can be tough though so go a few minutes utes early in case you need to ride around.

This restaurant is in a refurbished gas station and has a cool vibe and ambiance. I got a pimento cheese sandwich and it was possibly the best one I've ever had! It came with a substantial salad with a good vinaigrette. My friends found good beer to have. We sat inside but there is a big heated outdoor area, as well.

So, we just happened on this place when meeting at a place up the hill. Thought that one was a food place but it's really a drinking establishment. Anyway, wandered down the hill to this place. She had a salad and I ordered a turkey club. Here's what I got: - a sandwhich on lightly toasted fresh rye with fresh tomato and lettuce that was clearly just off the head. On one side was a fresh smoked turkey sliced very thin and running down the middle was a semi-peppered thick sliced bacon cooked to perfection. The rye was lightly covered with a mayo/mustard mix. Not gloppy or overpowering. And four large avocado slices filled out the sandwich. - Everything was perfectly balanced! I could taste the avocado pushing back against the acidity of the tomato. The bacon was in there agreeing with the light smokiness of the turkey. In the background was the rye playing little grace notes across my tongue. Never had a sammy like that one before. Will have to go back again and see if it was a one off or not.

I'm from out of town attending an event in the area of this restaurant and found it quite by chance. It's located in what appears to be a warehouse district in an old gas station but nicely converted. Somewhat small and cozy upon entry but they have added additional seating in a patio which is enclosed for the season. Limited menu with some unique tasty offerings. We were a group of 6 and we tried a couple of the appetizers and a variety of entrees all of which were very good. The prices were very reasonable with serving size adequate. Along with the unique food offerings they also had a unique drink and beer selection along with the standard offerings. I particularly enjoyed watching the mixologist perform her drink creations. The service was excellent and very warm and friendly. Although the place is somewhat small and was quite full, there was no rush to have us finish our meals and clear our table for space. Even after we paid our checks and were talking for awhile, we were given additional coffee and tea for probably an additional half hour. Our whole group enjoyed our time at this place and will return when we are anyway close by.

A friend and I had the special....roast pork with sweet potato Au gratin and collards. It was absolutely the most delicious dinner.....the meat was so tender, the sweet potato was perfectly cooked and the collards were seasoned with a bit of hot pepper flakes. Our mates had chicken & waffles and the barbecue pork with the most interesting sweet and hot sauce ! The chicken dish was delicious.

Very good local beer selection: We had a delicious Full Steam and Trophy. Burger was quite good and the chicken arugula salad was great! Soup was rather salty but flavorful. Great wait staff, quick and friendly service. Fun place.

Excellent food, wait staff friendly and attentive(but not to much). I had the "special" of the day - Local Arugula salad with white beans and corn cakes- delicious. Pimento cheese sandwiches are great also! Indoor or outdoor seating...
