Disney Character Breakfast!!! Much better than the ones in Orlando because it's less crowded.

Being a local to Hawai’i, its great to have the knowledge on where the best places to eat are. Having a large family you need to make sure everyone can get a great meal, for a great price. This by far has been one of the best buffets I’ve had in awhile. My only problem is we can’t book a large party. We have to make separate reservations for all of our families.

We ate twice here, once for a character breakfast and once for dinner. Both times the buffet food was well above average and the service was excellent. It's a little pricey, but still i would recommend it especially if you like variety.

We were staying with my Niece and her family near the Aulani and went to Makahiki for dinner to enjoy the great food and the overall atmosphere of the Aulani. There was great music playing outside at the lounge which you could easily hear from our outside table. Definitely ask for the outside seating as the air conditioning on the inside tables can be a little too cool. We cam to Makahiki, not our first time for the great seafood including the all you can crack and eat crab. After starting with an assortment of shellfish, sushi, and sushimi we moved on to great freshly prepared crab legs. Everyone at the table who liked crab as the full. The buffet also offers other great dishes and carnivorous items for those who may not like seafood. Finally, if you have room, you can choose from their great variety of desserts which are sized just right to try a couple of them. Don't miss the cookies. The staff was great keeping us happy with our drinks, water and empty plates (someone has to take away all those crab shells). I would recommend you get an online reservation in advance of your trip to make sure you have the time slot you want. You don't want to eat too late on your vacation.

We were very disappointed for a disney character meal there was only Stictch, Chip n Dale, Goofy. NO MICKEY unheard of for a character meal. Only four character and they did not get all to us. Expensive. Food was just OK. This was a huge disappointment.

It's not bad but not great. Very expensive and wanted to give it a great review, but it was just so so.

It's Disney so you already know that it will be expensive. Many of the bad reviews were written because people want fine cuisine for the money spent... But that's not why Disney charges top dollar. I mean the food will be good but not necessarily matching the $250 per family taste that one would expect. But, what you will get is near perfect service, amazing variety and exceptional attention to detail. As always at Disney restaurants my family enjoyed our time here. The only reason I ranked 4 of 5 is because I have been to so many Disney restaurants that I know (even if on rare occasions) there are those that have some of the best foods I have ever eaten.

My family of 5 ate at this restaurant for the dinner buffet. There was a nice assrtment of seafood such as sushi, crab legs, oysters, clams, mussels, shrimp, salmon. Hot dishes included prime rib and pork and vegetable dishes. The dessert table had many choices. A good value and pleasant dining experience.

So if you don't like seafood than there's little to choose from but if you do than this is seafood heaven! Crab legs, ahi tuna, shrimp, oysters, and so much more!

This place is downright nasty! The food is gross... .. sushibay in Kapolei and Monkeypod Restaurant are way better choices! The food at The mMakahiki Buffet was gross! We went for Dinner on 8/29/2017 and spent $275 for a family of 5.... the sushi and crab was watery and stale The waitress expected at tip... yeah right...... zeroes! Go elsewhere this place shouldn't pass health code for Honolulu Flies on food were observed too! Nasty!

First time having dinner here. Everything was outstanding! We've had breakfast here before, but didn't do it this time since they discontinued the non-character breakfast. I'm sad about that because the breakfast was really good, but I totally get it that there is way more demand for the characters and that is just not my thing to be around that many excited kids without enough caffeine fortification. LOL

we had both dinner and breakfast here and enjoyed both...expensive but as much food as you can eat and very good variety for both meals...characters are very engaging and great with kids...the two shows are slanted toward kids and are fun and light.........entry pictures are only negative......charge 35 dollars for the picture but do allow you take your with your own camera and will do it for you........highly recommend experience

We recently ate dinner here after the characters had left since my kids are older. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive as far as buffets go. I thought there was good variety of food prepared in a pleasing way.

The Character Breakfast at Makahiki is very popular. I have heard that it is often completely sold out. I tried to make a reservation online a week before, but could not. I called, and was told that it was totally booked. I called again, spoke to a different person, mentioned that I will be staying at the hotel, and was put through to the restaurant directly. Had no problem making a reservation for the time slot I wanted. When checking in, I asked the front desk to confirm the reservation. They called the restaurant and could not find my name in the system. I mentioned when I called as well as the time slot I had requested. The reservation was then found. Later that day, I walked by the restaurant and reconfirmed again. The reservation was still there. On the morning of the breakfast, my reservation was honored and everything went smoothly.

Had reservations for dinner for 5 was over 300 with no characters. Reservations the next morning for breakfast for 5 with characters. We loved the characters and sing alongs!! The prices are very pricey but our 3 1/2 year old grand daughter loved it!! It's all about making those memories count for when I'm gone for them!!

Enjoyed the buffet and drinks. We ate here for dinner, not the character breakfast. The staff was friendly and on top of our drinks and dishes throughout the meal.

This was by far one of the better breakfast buffets I've had at a family resort. The food was fresh, hot and had lots of variety. I would highly recommend.

Character breakfast was delicious--lots of choices and the island fruit was out of this world. Dinner buffet was delicious, with lots of choices. The guava bread is wonderful---it's PINK and delicious.

Our waitress Natasha was very good. She kept making sure we are okay and our water was always full. She kept getting our dirty dishes so we can eat more. I do love the sea food and crab. its all worth everypenny, if you are hungry. We stayed until it closed and was very satisfied. Since it was my birthday, she went the extra mile to sing happy birthday. I always love to come and eat the buffet. The atmosphere and the music and food was top rated. It was thursday and the band that played, the woman and man was the best. They mixed it up with 60,70,80 and hawaiian music. I'd come again always.

Very entertaining with characters and dancing for kids. The buffet was average, we got to Disneyland a lot and expected more variety like the character buffets in Disneyland, but not that great. I feel it's overpriced and could offer more variety. It's fun seeing the characters, overall ok.

The buffet breakfast is amazing... but the interaction with the Disney Characters makes it perfect! Our 3 year old celebrated her 3rd birthday surrounded by Minnie, Mickey & Pluto!!! Plus the speciality birthday cake supplied was exactly what I wanted... Thank you so much :-)
