Shrimp and grits were ok and the fish tacos were fantastic... as well as the biscuits and honey butter brought to the table as we were seated.

We had a wonderful dinner by the river. The fish was perfectly cooked, salad was delicious, ricotta was good but underseasoned. The best item was the sweet potato creme brulee! A perfect ending to a Savannah day.

Some twenty five to thirty people had descended on Savannah for a wedding, and Vic's was the chosen venue to meet. There was some early ingratitude from management when we were told that we had to be there on time, places could not be kept. Anyway we did all arrive on time, and were reasonably looked after - one of our tables was handled very smoothly, others somewhat stop-go. Food was tasty, but with (in my case, short rib) very large portions. I am not sure that this restaurant offers much above average, but I have given them the benefit of the doubt because of the pleasure we had from all meeting up.

This was recommended by several people and they were right. One can eat inside or out. The interior is classic, white table cloth dining. Outside is quite pleasant. It was a beautiful day so we went outside. Great service, and reasonable prices for an upscale venue. The place is famous for its shrimp and grits and that fame is well deserved. The she crab soup is outstanding. You can't go wrong here-go there soon.

We were delighted with our view of the river. The food was delicious. It was very busy, but our server took time to answer all of our questions.

I guess your opinion of the food at Vic's depends on what you order. As my husband often says, don't go to a steak restaurant and order fish and expect it to be wonderful! I ordered the fried double pork chop and it was 2 single pork chops, dry and pretty tough. So I sent it back (absolutely no argument, just apologies) and ordered the fried oysters -- and they were absolutely wonderful! My husband ordered the mussels and linguini and he said they were very good, just easy on the linguini. So, if you go to Vic's order fish and expect great service.

My husband & I often eat here when we are in Savannah. Last week we met friends from out of town. The wife has a very large number of things she cannot eat. This is always a challenge for a restaurant with her allergies: gluten, sugar, all dairy, tomatoes, corn, casein, etc. -- the list she keeps with her, as it is so long. To the point: Our waitress (Renee) was exceptional. With a smile on her face, she had to go back to the kitchen twice to try and figure out a meal that our friend could eat. All this took extra time for her. Our meals were very good and Renee should be thanked for making such an effort.

Our waiter from the Crystal Beer Parlor recommended Vic's to us. It did not disappoint! Fantastic fried green tomatoes and the crab, shrimp and oyster stew is a must have!

Arrived in Savannah earlier than expected and went to lunch while waiting on our room at the Hyatt. I had meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans after their crab bisque. Food was great. My husband had their pastrami sandwich which was also very good. Little more expensive than fast food, but great service, great food and air conditioning in the Savannah heat is a great getaway- break. Will go back again. Right on the river. Will let you know what we think of their Sunday brunch.

Long story short...2 1/2 hour dinner and it wasn't because of us. Our waiter was awful. Seemed to constantly forget about us. Our soup was served without utensils. After waiting quite awhile, we got up and got it ourselves. We had to ask for drink refills, etc. Not a good experience. Unfortunately when the service is that bad, the food and ambience suffers.

We love Vic's, and make it a point to stop by every time we visit Savannah. Food was very good and service attentive. This time, we were given a table by a window, so we had a lovely view of the river.

The wifey and I dropped in on our way to Atlanta, having never been to Savannah. We found Vic's on TA, wanting a place on the water. The restaurant did not disappoint with a great water view. The decor was quaint and the service efficient. Enjoyed the shrimp and grits with some local brews. The only negative was the parking, challenging but the lot was reasonably priced once we found a spot. Would return.

By far the best meal we had in Savannah. The food was absolutely terrific. From appetizer to dessert, there was nothing but fantastic food. Service was also incredible.

We visited here for a special birthday dinner while on our girls trip - to honor the birthday girl. We made reservations etc. We sat down and had a lead waiter and assistant - I thought we were going to be good. Next thing i know they sit a large group of over 20 next to us - including at least 10 children. From there on out - it was down hill. Didn't get offered refills, no pepper cracked for our dishes. It was loud and NOT enjoyable at all. I too have kids and understand large tables will be sat - but they should be in a separate area with designated waiters and waitresses as to not impact the other guests. I spoke with the manager - nothing was done. Wrote an email to manager, again nothing was done. Therefore, I will not be back and will not recommend to any others traveling to Savannah. What a horrible experience for my mothers 60th birthday dinner - we will never get that back!

Took my wife here for her 30th bday dinner based on the reviews. Nothing poor about our dinner, but not blown away either. Friendly hostess staff & good table for a special occasion. Food was good, but not great. Waiter was nice, but didn't have much insight when we asked questions trying to narrow down our meal choice. Overall, it was an average dinner out. Probably a little overpriced. We dined at the Olde Pink House the following night & liked that so much that we ate there the following night too. If you're choosing between the two, definitely go with OPH.

After dining the previous night at a highly popular tourist type restaurant where I was a bit disappointed, I was not sure where to go our second night. As we rode the trolley, I saw Vic's On the River, quickly checked the reviews and made reservations. Couldn't have been any happier. Requested a River View table and my request was honored without an issue. Our server was prompt and friendly. Dinner menu offered Crab Cakes. OMG!! These were by far the BEST I've ever had. Big lumps of fresh crab served over Parmesan Risotto Rice!! Started with a Pear and Blue Cheese salad which was also delicious. Afterwards took the handy elevator to the downstairs level with exit to River Street and all it's charm. Strolled along the river, stopped in the gift shops and just enjoyed the views. Great Location!

One of our favorites in Savannah! Wonderful waiter... very attentive. Fried shrimp is wonderful but half servings would be awesome for those who can't eat a whole order. It is a very special place and we had a table next to a door overlooking the river.Highly recommend!

We visited Vic's for dinner on our last night in town. The previous night we were highly disappointed in our restaurant selection. This was the perfect ending to a great trip. French onion soup was spot on. I am a die hard lover of French onion and this was one of the best. My seafood entree was perfectly cooked. My wife had the stuffed chicken with goat cheese and it was awesome! This is a restaurant that lives up to Savanah's reputation! Put this on your list but call for reservations because word is out.

Although we have been here before and had excellent service with excellent food, the service this particular night was quite lacking, Arrived early for our 7:15 reservation, where we had asked for a river view, we were seated by the bar which proved to be quite noisy. Suggest when asking for a river view, tell them not to seat you by or near the bar. Drinks and appetizers were ordered and delivered promptly. However, we waited for and hour and half for our entrees. The manager apologized for the lateness of the entrees. Rated the service average when normally would have rated it as excellent.
