Have dined at the Spotted Horse Tavern several times. Each time was fantastic. The first time was for their Sunday brunch with our family. All you heard was, "Oh my God, this is so good!" Everyone was eating and commenting in between their bites. The Chantilly cream that a few of us had on our items was to die for. Can't say enough about their brunch. One of the brunch items was the lobster grilled cheese-yum!! Other times, we have had several plates or a meal. The food is so great. I highly recommend this place. Have not been disappointed yet.

Popped in for a quick dinner on a Friday evening. We were seated immediately and had fantastic service. The waiter came over right away and was attentive throughout dinner. We ordered the eggplant appetizer, and for dinner had the veggie burger, a salad, and fish tacos. Everything came out quickly and hot. The serving sizes were large and the food was fresh, high quality, and delicious. I was quite impressed with how good the food looked and tasted. I took notice to how the wait staff was keyed into the details of the dinner service. As the table was cleared after each course, it was wiped down before the waiter even left. Great service. Would definitely come back, plus there's more on the menu I want to try!

We stopped here for dinner on a Friday night before a show at the Playhouse, arriving just before 6 which was great because we got one of the few remaining tables without having to wait. All of the staff were on point- dishes cleared, cutlery replaced, drinks served within the right amount of time. The food was very good and reasonably priced for the area. We would definitely return.

Wonderful menu, burgers, salads, fish ... almost anything you want. Love the caesar salad with chicken! Burgers with sweet potato fries.

Great ambience with really creative design that makes you feel like your in an upscale barn (it sounds weird but you will understand when you walk in). The calamari was cooked perfectly and their warm Connecticut lobster roll was incredible. The space is a little tight but they are family friendly and the staff is very accommodating. Highly recommend grabbing a bite to eat when in town.

I like to sit at the bar and watch the sporting event of the evening. An attractive crowd usually is in play. The menu is fairly simple and the food is good, consistent. Nice variety to choose from.

First time here for lunch. Casual vibe. Too hot for the front porch so we opted for inside. The bar area is about half the space but we decided on dining area. Both were inviting. Our waiter was quick to ask our drink orders and then after telling us the specials gave us time to decide on our lunch. Many great options. The Baja fish taco was delicious. The kale salad was good as well but would ask for dressing on the side next time. Looking forward to another meal...maybe dinner next time. Heard they may be opening in Shelton soon...will try that as well!

We ate dinner here on a Saturday evening. We were seated at a high top with no wait. I had a peach sangria which was delicious- filled with fresh berries. My husband had a chicken sandwich with avocado, which was so tall he couldn't open his mouth wide enough to eat it. He was impressed with the amount of avocado and the greens in his salad but thought the chicken was a bit overlooked and the house salad dressing was a bit light. I had a veggie burger with sweet potato fries. The size of my burger was huge and the toppings were flavorful. My fries were thin and crisp, served with a chipotle mayo. Considering how expensive everything is in Westport, I think our dinner was a good value. The decor was rustic and comfortable and our waitress was pleasant. Nice place for dinner.

There are many Westport restaurants that I enjoy. However, I can honestly say that of all of the excellent restaurants we have in town, I have never been disappointed in the quality of the food at The Spotted Horse. If you haven't been here, the summer's as good a time as any to try it out.

Met a friend for lunch on a Saturday here. Staff was friendly and helpful (Andrew, our waiter, was great, as was the bartender). We were promptly seated and asked for our drink order. I had the lobster mac (delicious). My companion ordered a bit of an obscure after-dinner drink, and the bartender made it to perfection, I'm told. I like that you have the choice of dining inside in the AC or out on the front patio under the awning. Overall, a really nice place.

Noisy. The "rare" steak was well done; it took far too long for the replacement burger to arrive; that too was not rare. the other three meals were judged "OK" -- 4-5 on a scale of 1-10. Disappointing -- and not to be revisited.

A friend of my daughter who lives in Westport recommended we dine here to meet friends for lunch. Westport was the halfway point for all of us as they were driving from New York and we were from Eastern Ct. This place was a perfect spot. The area is very nice. If it wasn't so hot that day we would have gone walking around town after lunch. Very warm greeting by the host and we chose a table outside on the front porch. All four of us loved our dishes. My wife ordered the chicken burger with avacado and I had the fish tacos. My wife loved hers. At first glance when I saw my dish plated before me with only two taco's on it, i was thinking I will be walking out of here hungry. But that was not the case, the two tacos were generously filled with the freshest tasting fish. I mean it tasted like it was just caught that morning. I love fish tacos and have had many varieties from many different places. This ranks at the top due to freshness. The four of us agreed that this will be our meeting place in the future. Unfortunately they do not accept reservations, but if you get there before noon you will not have trouble getting seated. We knew that when we decided to go there. Great place!

We have been to the Spotted Horse many times - it's a solid and reliable option. The food is consistent and good. I prefer the Salmon and Risotto or Hanger Steak. Seems to have an active bar scene if that interests you. The major flaw is the noise level - so we tend to go in the summer and sit outside.

We headed to Westport Sunday afternoon on a whim (new to the area) and tripped on this place online. Easter Sunday most places were packed and or pricey set menus. This place WAS jammed but they were able to get us in quickly. Service was good and prompt. Menu is modern tavern examples of some culinary creation. I had a Reuben meets Rachel which was very good...the grass was a bit soggy...which was the only downside. My daughter had the lobster mac, I tried it too, and it was amazing. HUGE pieces of lobster make the bang for the buck great. The side dish side was an ample portion. My wife had the fish tacos and while I didn't try then, they too were very good sized portion and she thoroughly enjoyed them. 2 sodas, no drinks, tap water and 4 plates = roughly $70. Not too bad for a very trendy place with great food in a clearly affluent area, near the shore. Visit Compo Beach while you're in the area.

At the recommendation of a friend some of our family met at the Spotted Horse for an early dinner. Although the outside seating and bar area were full, the larger inside dinning area was nearly empty, so it was easy to get seated (was told over the phone that they didn't take reservations), including a highchair. The menu offered a wide array of food choices from small plates to salads to sandwiches to burgers and entrees, etc. I settled on a Mediterranean Salad to which I added seared tuna. The salad was huge and delicious and the tuna was perfectly prepared and as much as one would expect to get as an entrée. The service was attentive, perhaps because there were not many dinners in the room where we were seated. We were able park on Church Street in front of the restaurant which is just a block off Main Street, so easy to stroll to before or after dinner to window shop. There is very little traffic on Church, so eating outside looked to be very enjoyable. Would definitely return for another meal here in the near future.

Stumbled upon this place and got there early so seating was immediate. Four of us shared three small plates - Burrata, Spring Roll and Pistachio Goat Cheese Pizzette (the winner hands down). We all agreed we could have just ordered more and more small plates since the servings were nicely sized and everything was so delicious. For dinner I had the Ahi Tuna Taco - highly recommend! Very generous portion of perfectly prepared tuna - not all chopped up and stuffed into a taco shell like you would normally expect from a fish taco. Left very satisfied. My favorite part of this dining experience was that my favorite wine was sold by the glass - I NEVER see this on a menu - so I thoroughly enjoyed both glasses I ordered! Our bill was reasonable, too, considering all we ordered to eat and drink. Would definitely go again if in the area.
