Of all the tortillas I tried, Nopalito's tasted the most strongly of corn, with its toasty flavor coming through with every bite. It was a little too much.

I thought all SF Mexican food was a disappointment until I found Nopalito (I'm from SoCal and part Mexican). Amazing sit down Mexican food. Carnitas and mole should not be missed.

From the addictive totopos con chile to the comforting tortilla soup to the killer carnitas, there's something for everyone here (plus damn good margaritas).

We enjoyed our dinner at Nopalito. We shared a variety of selections: braised pork Carnitas, Quesadillas with pork belly, braised brisket Gorditas, and fish tacos. Everything was very tasty. The server was attentive, even during a very busy time. I thought it was a little pricey but, then again, we were in San Francisco. To get to a bathroom, you have to go outside and around the front of the building to a single bathroom that is next to the takeout station, which I thought was a little odd.

Modern, open dining area, seems like the tables are too close, but no, it works. We had several of the smaller plates and one order of the carnitas. All in all, too much for "us three kids" to eat, but a great sampling of their menu. Start with a margarita, the best I have ever had. We first shared Totopos con Chile, Tacos de Pescado al Pastor, and Tamal de Huitlacoche y Frijoles. All superb and a wonderous medley of fresh Mexican flavors. We ran out of steam when the Carnitas arrived, and and just had a couple "OMG that's good" bites. This lost something in the reheating, so next time, I would eat this first. All good, my new go-to place for visitors.

We were wandering around town on a rented bike, heading toward GG Park when we got hungry and decided to make an unplanned stop at this restaurant. What an incredibly pleasant experience! The food is delicious (we had the vegetable quesadilla and chicken tacos). Yum! So glad we found it!

Can be pretty busy around the lunch hour, but definitely worth waiting a few minutes for a table. Menu items are light and creative ... a little different from many Mexican places. Service is cheerful and attentive. Our yummy rolled tacos (two for $8) arrived quickly even when every table was occupied. On previous occasions we've sampled other offerings. All were excellent. Salads, burritos, ceviche ... all made with the freshest ingredients. Free parking available in the adjacent garage and a wonderful gourmet market next door.

We ordered three small dishes, gorditas with beef brisket, fish tacos, and empanadas with pork belly. Each was outstanding in its own way. In each case the protein was perfectly tender and juicy, the spice level was high but not excessive and the tortillas were handmade with care. If we lived here, we'd return again and again to try everything on the menu! Oh, and the margaritas packed some punch. Service was friendly and helpful without being intrusive. That's the fish taco in the photo...the fresh fish of the day was cod which was well-seasoned and the salsa was nice and hot.

Great modern Mexican, with the lightness and tang without compromising the integrity of each dish.....we had tacos, burritos...all the classics yet tasted so new and fresh. Nopalito delivered what it promised, delicious food made with great care using great produce from committed purveyors. Worth the wait......no bookings in advance prior to 2 hours on the day.

Been waiting to try this place. It did not disappoint. Very good Mexican. Margarita was good. The chips app are very good. Nicely spicy. Then the pork quesadilla was awesome. Next time I want to try the pasole stew. Highly recommend this place.

Made reservations a couple hours before 9 pm and our table for five was ready upon our arrival. Fun, fresh vibe greeted us. I would recommend a pitcher of margaritas to start - not too sweet but really refreshing. Liked the spicy chip appetizer for a group - not so much for a couple. The crispy quesadilla was yummy but rich for sure. Loved the carnitas with cabbage salad - perfect really, especially with the corn tortillas. Fish tacos and ceviche were solidly fresh and good. Service was friendly and fun.

We arrived at 5 pm on Saturday 4/30/2017. Got a nice table by the window, ordered the Mechalado, (Beer, Jalapeno, Lime, Cilantro) very tasty, would have had another if wasn't driving. The chips and guac was very fresh but was a small portion for 9 bucks. The food was excellent, we had Chicken Mole, Beef Stew, Fish Tacos. I would definitely eat here again.

My wife and I went on a walking tour of the Haight and stopped at Nopalito on the way back downtown. The restaurant is in a tiny center along with a Peet's and an cute market. We were warmly welcomed by the hostess and quickly seated. Although nothing fancy, the restaurant is a great place for a beer with fresh, well-prepared Mexican food. My wife and I each had fish tacos and they were fabulous. Coupled with quick, friendly service, a definite winner.

Food was fresh and unique while the ambiance can be described as chic big city neighborhood restaurant. Yeah, so it is a nice place. The food was good, but the uniqueness scored more points with me than the overall taste, at least for the fish tacos that I had.

We had a wonderful lunch recently (Mar 2nd) with our youngest son and our youngest grandson...lovely experience based on excellent food, great service terrific vibe and for us they made our visit very special by helping us with the 14 month old. My son had the Torta..said it was the best he's ever had..I had a very good mama,l my wife had the empanada and my grandson had half of a simple quesadilla and shared my order of pinquito beans. Plenty of good food, pitcher of margarita's and a happy baby.

Cozy and relaxed, easy going nice place. I had just some fish Tacos and Mexican beer. Tacos were good with nicely prepared fresh fish. If you're in the area, it's worth a visit!

Really nice place, very low key casual dinning. Friendly staff and great food. The Margaritas aren't bad either. I look forward to visiting again when back in the city.

We had a realy great dinner there a couple of weeks ago. Although they don't take reservations we were able to get in without too much trouble. The food was delicious and perfect for sharing. The Ceviche was outstanding.
