We joined some friends here for dinner one night and thought we were in the wrong place, but it turned out we had found a gem! The bar in front is very reminiscent of a speakeasy, with fantastic cocktails. And the cozy restaurant in the back offers some good jazz to go along with some really great food! The seafood tower was surprisingly good, the burgers are fantastic and the service was friendly and prompt. Will be back!

En el segundo piso, parece un club privado, dos ambientes gratos, uno de ellos con música en vivo, bien atendido, precios razonables, especial para conversar y disfrutar de la amistad de tu pareja.

Came here to experience some live music while having something to eat Need to book in the Viking Room if you want the live music as the bar outside doesn't get access to the stage We had the burgers here which were really great and definitely worth getting! Service was great and friendly. We got some live music, but they were still setting up for a while We did eat at 7pm though which is when they opened, so I suspect if you come later around 8pm onwards it would be in full swing Great place for a drink and dinner over live music and would recommend coming here!

Cafe Du Nord is an cool nightclub in San Francisco near the Castro district. In my experience, it has some of the best live music in town. All different styles, some of which don't necessarily suit me. I've seen internationally acclaimed jazz acts, killer rock acts, maudlin (boring?) singer/songwriters and (loud) punk acts there in the same week. It's smallish, so the experience is pretty intimate. Recently saw the Zombies there, which was unbelievable in a place that size. The ambience is kinda upscale -- for a live music nightclub. Has a "hep" vibe with dark wood, purple curtains and deep red walls. Had a decent martini (or 3) and the food was surprisingly good. The staff told me the food is managed by Street Restaurant, a popular S.F. restaurant that I've been to before (23 points for Food in the most recent Zagat guide). Word to the wise, if you go to the Du Nord make sure you like the music style for the night. I'd recommend checking out the calendar on their website before going. It does a pretty good job explaining the music.
