Caffe Trieste serves delicious espresso and has a cute back patio where dogs are welcome.

We walked in here as we saw a friend in the line to order. We were looking for coffee and desserts and there was a good sized display of our favorite desserts. You know how it is when a group of friends walks in and each of us go up to order.... The first group ordered scone and coffee. She was able to bring her order to an outdoor table. Fine. The next group ordered Key Lime Pie, Black Forest Cake and 2 club sodas. Sadly the key lime pie tasted of gelled condensed milk. The crust was so hard we couldn't cut it. The Black Forest Cake took 5 minutes to come. It was not tasty. The last group came in and ordered a Napoleon and Coffee. The Napoleon was stale, the layers of pastry were not crisp as they ought to be. After 15 minutes, we asked where our Club Sodas were! After that, no one ever came to check how things were, offer or top up water Its a great and pleasant location, but with such poor service and terrible pastries, I will be going to try the other cafes in the neighborhood.

This isn't a try-hard joint, but it really brings in the locals. It's got a casual atmosphere. You can come watch the game, go on a date, eat pasta with a rowdy crowd, grab a pizza to go, work on your laptop, or just have a coffee or beer alone. All of this and more was going on when my husband and I visited a few days ago. We stopped in for a quick bite after just moving in and having no kitchen supplies at home, but there were also couples in here on more romantic dates - you can really make this place your own and feel comfortable here no matter what kind of evening you're doing. The pizza was probably the cheapest in California! The Bay Area, certainly. $11.75 for a 12 inch pizza with lovely salami and mozzarella on. Yum! That was the special and we enjoyed it. Unfortunately it was too salty for both our tastes. My husband usually puts salt on everything and even he found it too salty at first bite. We also had a meatball marinara pasta dish. This had a tasty sauce and very good, well seasoned meatballs. Just 2 but they were very large. We enjoyed this too, but again, someone's a little overzealous in the kitchen with the salt. The best thing about the restaurant, aside from the atmosphere, was the price. It was a very good value meal for the area. Also, the desserts seem to be top notch if the eclair was anything to go by. The staff is very pleasant and as mentioned, the atmosphere is very relaxed - it really is a cafe without all the stuffiness of a restaurant and you can do as you please. Will definitely be coming back as we're new to the neighborhood... This will hopefully be one of our regular haunts!

Whether it's breakfast or a dinner you're looking for this is a great little place. It's very casual, serves coffee, teas and also beer and wine. And offers decent food at good prices.

I had the breakfast special - a croissant with a fried egg, avocado and some salad. It was, somehow the wrong combination, and I did not like it. However, the coffee was good and the staff great.

I've only been here in the morning, but the coffee and almond croissant are very good. The staff member was very friendly, even after a previous customer had treated him badly..

Cafe Trieste is always a stop-by place a least once a week for me. Cappuccino is very good, made by experts. I tend to always order the spaghetti and meatball entree. Always good, with a slight spice to the flavor. Perfect location to bring people, or sit alone and read a book while enjoying the ambiance.

I have been here many times over the years, and I'm just now getting around to giving them a review. My favorite is their breakfast sandwiches -- solidly delicious, every time. It's always busy, but I always seem to find a seat. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is very friendly! I will continue going back to this place over and over.

Happened to stop here for a quick latte one afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised by the nice staff and quaint surroundings. There's a large menu of food and a wide selection of all the coffee drinks. Lots of seating and the option to sit outside is nice. Recommended for anyone who happens to be in the area.

Good food with a wide variety of menu offerings. My favorite thing is to eat outside and watch the people and world go by while enjoying a nice salad, some delicious quiche, a tasty sandwich, or just a cup of coffee.

We've been there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All were done well. The service is lively, informal, and prompt. Coffee is good, other beverages are well-chosen if limited in selection. The food is always great regardless of the time of day, and there are specials daily. There are a gazillion eating spots within a couple blocks but this is the consistent winner with us.

We had a quick (not traditional) breakfast at this location and you could tell it was a spot for locals. They ask that you bus your dishes at the end of your meal. A little intimidating to order though. The coffee was good and breakfast was filling. The tables were full of Wi-Fi users. There's a Wi-Fi etiquette note on the wall telling people not to hog the air time and when to limit time during the busy hours. They have live music on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday nights.

We ate breakfast, and loved the great lattes and freshness of the food. We returned mid afternoon after sightseeing for a cool drink in the outside seating area. Third visit was for dinner, and it being Tuesday there was live music. Unfortunately, even though we arrived before 7, all seats were taken, some tables for four occupied by one person with only a glass of water in front of them. Clearly there for the music but with no intention of spending any money... So, even though the food smelled great, and the music was fantastic we had to abandon plans to eat here. Our loss, but Caffe Trieste's too as we spent 80 dollars in a nearby eatery instead.

Tolles Café mit sehr leckerem Kaffee und super Frühstück. Der Joghurt mit frischen Früchten ist sehr zu empfehlen! Der Espresso hat eine tolle Schokonote.

Café Trieste is a small café located on busy Piedmont Ave. in Oakland - free parking behind. A great spot for a casual supper, featuring daily specials, great pizza, sandwiches and pasta dishes. Try the chocolate caramel die for! And, on Tuesday evenings, there is great live music from 7pm - 9:30pm, sometimes including a Grammy Winning violinist who plays everything from jazz and blues to classical, but get there early. A full coffee bar with a selection of desserts and sweets round out this lively little spot, with a back patio to enjoy nice weather. Wine and beer also available.

I stayed in Oakland for a couple of days to visit my daughter. We found Caffe Trieste by chance and it proved to be great luck. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great breakfast served to order. The cook was great. Eggs perfectly done. Their hot, fresh-brewed large coffee is served in a pint glass with a sleeve. Excellent coffee. The atmosphere is relaxed and ambiance is terrific with wood floors, round tables & background music that is kind of jazzy and multicultural. There is seating inside and plenty of outside seating, some in front and more in the back. My flight out wasn't until late, so after we checked out of our hotel, we went back to Caffe Trieste and basically camped out until I had to leave. They have an eclectic beer selection (Old Speckled Hen, Sierra Nevada, Moretti) and $3 draft pints after 3 o'clock until closing at 10 (drafts at other times are $4). They also have wine. They have a lot of choices on the menu that are available all day. There is no wait service, but you place your order and they bring it to your table. I would highly recommend this caffe if you find yourself in Oakland. Trip Advisor only lets me select one, but I was there for breakfast, lunch, drinks & dessert.
