One thing that’s constant is that Paper or Plastik is popular with artists, writers, dancers, and chefs.

Everything I've eaten here - from salads to cakes -- has been scrumptious. Rich, interesting flavors. Very cool atmosphere, so long as you don't miond being surrounded by young people on computers.

The service was friendly and accommodating, so far as the front service and management went. However, I came in during a rare winter day in LA and wanted something warm and filling. We had come in because it seemed the kind of place that serves quality, seasonal food, so when I saw polenta porridge, I ordered it immediately. The chef should know that polenta is inexpensive and delicious. If you tempt folks with a dish that has cheese, root vegetables, and polenta, at least put real polenta in there. As it was, it was a few of a lot of ingredients. And mostly sauce. When I sent it back, asking for the lamb meatballs that cost $.50 more, the dish came back after a long time and was limp-warm-dry. It was not a good impression: restaurants are feeding people, not just checking off boxes to be a concept. Although I never sense it this way, I felt that profits were taken off of my dining experience.

My asthma started because of all the dusty things inside. Very rustic and raw. A lot of wood inside - small and quaint. Outside is real popular- umbrellas and ample seating. Outside seating very close to Pico Blvd. so there's a lot of street noise and dirt from cars.

Despite the peculiar name, this place has an easy-going vibe, friendly service, and good food for lunch. We ate outside and had a really good chicken rosemary salad with balsamic dressing, and a mushroom grilled cheese sandwich on thick, perfectly grilled bread that was really delicious. The other things on the menu looked good as well. Worth a visit.

My friends and I went here after having dinner nearby to have coffee/lattes. We loved the ambiance of the place. Reminded me of when I would frequent coffee shops before Starbucks took over. Great place to just sit, relax and have good conversation with friends over some good coffee and pastries.

Atmosphere was great! A hidden gem! The food was fantastic, a little pricy but worth it. Coffee was great. Service was super helpful and pleasant and quick. I will eat there again while I'm here.

I absolutely love this place! I don't know why it has so many bad reviews. Now this review is strictly on the coffee, tea and the environment. I came here to work for a few hours. I got myself an Americano which was really good! I love the environment. It's super quiet and I was able to focus and get my work done without having to put headphones on. I believe there are certain days where you're not allowed to bring your laptop. I can't remember which days those are. Anyways, I highly recommend this place!

Paper or Plastik Café is a pretty good lunch spot. After I got lucky finding a parking meter on Pico Blvd., I order the grilled cheese for $9 over the turkey & avocado for $13.50. Seems a little pricey. They don't serve Diet Coke, so I order water. After waiting for 15 minutes, I ask the waiter to check my order. Five minutes later, it arrives. The bread is crispy fried and the cheese is plentiful. A small bowl of tomato sauce is included. I break the sandwich into bit sizes and dip it into the sauce. It's simply delicious! Is this the most delicious grilled cheese I've ever had????? I notice an upstairs counter at the top of the stairs. All the outdoors tables are taken. I would return the next time I can afford to pay $9 for a delicious grilled cheese sandwich.

Among all the car body repair shops on this street are some good cafes and this is one of them. Order at the counter and wait for your name to be called. Coffee takes a while but is very smooth. Bfast burrito was tasty. Unusual decor. Recommend but go early

We stumbled across this place on our way to our hotel after landing in LAX. So happy we did! The food looks and tastes phenomenal, the cold brew was delicious, the industrial interior adds to the fun feel of the place, the counter service was a little strange: she wasn't too sure what salad was sitting in the display window and when paying, she just turned the screen towards us and walked away. We followed the prompts, no biggie, but if my technologically challenged friends were put into that position... yikes. Whatever, go. You'll love it here. You might need to wait for a seat or squeeze onto the bar due to its popularity, but that's just another sign of the place being great. Pricing is fair. Expect to pay 8-14 for a dish. There's metered street parking. $2 for 2 hours. :)

I met another mom from LACES for breakfast. The place had a cool vibe, and was hopping. You place your order at the counter, and they bring it to you. Their coffee was good, and looked like a god selection of baked goods. I had the avocado toast, which was tasty. I had wanted the quiche, but they didn’t have it then. My friend seemed to enjoy her dish too.

A small cafe for coffee, snacks, lunch. I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich and it came with tomato soup. It was the perfect size and delish. Not cheap as 2 of us ate for $36. It has a small 2nd floor. You order and they bring to your table.

Really charming setting for surprisingly great food that is well beyond your neighborhood corner coffee shop. I thought the staff could have been more helpful to me for what I said was my first time in there (I had to ask: Do I take the order number to a table? Where are the straws and napkins? Can my friend and I sit at a "community table" if we aren't working on laptops?), but the quality of the food more than made up for it. When a side dish I ordered had already run out, I was allowed to substitute another item without having to pay the difference.

We stopped her for a quick bite to eat on a Sunday lunchtime end route to LAX. I must say we were very impressed with the food drinks and the overall set up. Loved the tumeric and rosewater drink it was delicious. Also liked the way laptops were banned at the weekend and the large community table to get people chatting. Fabulous. Next time I am in LA we will definitely pop by!!!

Super yummy fare and awesome baked goods, with serious coffee in a Very cool, cozy decor of reclaimed wood and metals - indoor or outdoor. Not far from LACMA, a neighborhood place with a small offering of well selected artisan gifts to go (jams, Chocalate, bath salts, paper). Great music too.

Every time I dine here, I leave with the deep seated feeling that I've missed something important. But what? The food is really, really good. The setting is very nice too. I drive by here several evenings every week on my way home from the office so it would be the perfect place for me to become a "regular." Instead, I've become frustrated and I usually opt instead for a taco truck a couple of blocks away. Maybe this is a clue: I've had dinner here 28 times over the last 15 months but not once has anyone on the staff said anything like "welcome back" or "it's nice to see you again." Huh? I've recommended P or P to about a dozen friends/family/colleagues who've all had the same general reaction or worse. I will try P or P a few more times, on evenings when I drive by and see the restaurant isn't busy. But the fact of the matter is that over at the taco truck, I always get smiles and greetings in both English and Spanish. At Paper or Plastik, the greeting is always, "how many?" If we're talking about chances to change my feelings about the place, my answer has to be, "probably not many."

Love the decor in this place and the food is good too. The only thing missing is consistency, The salad might come with different dressings depending on what they have left. The studio next door adds more fun to it, you can go in and see live performances or rehearsals.

Ok, welllllll at first I thought this place was a 3 only because of their service, but I've changed my mind and think it's more of a 3.75-4 lol. The food and coffee is really good but the servers and baristas were not friendly at all. I came again after a month or so and got real good customer service. I hope it remains this way because this place is literally a block away from my place and love having a cafe I can just walk to and have some good ol' coffee and food. Oh yeah....I absolutely LOVE the huevos rancheros and the french toast! Must try!!

Pretty cool place and very cool up and coming area. I do like the interior and parking is super easy. Food is okay, better desserts. First time I came here it was almost empty and the people I was with were served 25 minutes before me..and I ordered a burger. I asked the counter multiple timers where my meal was and they looked like they couldn't be bothered. They comped my meal. Second time I was there..the staff behind the counter was too busy to notice the long (and increasingly) irate line of customers being "served" in between their gossiping.

I had heard the great raves from friends about this place. The unknowingly I wanted to attend a concert held in a space that it would be at Paper and Plastik. The casual coffee house atmosphere with great service and food was part of the evening. I would definitely go back on my own for delicious hot beverages and unique food choice, creative, reasonably priced. A real neighborhood gem with ease of parking. let's support places like this that add to the variety of establishments in this neighborhood. Enjoy!
