The vision of it`s founder, in 1902, was that this great department was to be a commercial and cultural theater - a contemporary stage. Nowadays NK is much more: all the international luxury brands have come together in one place so if you have plenty of money and just don`t know where and how to spend it, this is the right place for you.

One of Europe's most famous department stores in line with Magasin in Copenhagen and Harrods in London.

If you're in an expensive quasi-luxury shopping mood in Stockholm, take a walk to NK, which is a huge department store. Carrying both Swedish, European, and American brands of clothing (majority of what's here) and high-end home goods, the store was somewhat disappointing for lack of variety. Any of the large dept. stores in London are much better and more interesting.

The Stockholm NK is a “high-end” departmental store in the city centre of Stockholm (i.e. like Takashimaya), near to the T-Centralen Train Station (also within walking distance to Gamla Stan, from where our tour group came from here after our walking tour starting from there visiting many key attractions). It was closed to 5pm when our group arrived and the place was getting more crowded. It has several storeys, consisting of boutique shops and departmental store, including a supermarket at the basement. There are also cafes there. As a departmental store, it does offer product items that cater to the needs of everyone, ranging from fashion to bags, shoes, cosmetics, toys, household and lifestyle items etc, just to name a few. It’s centralized location is near to the train station as mentioned earlier and also many other shopping malls, F&B establishments around the area and especially for shopaholics, this is a good place for you and do make sure you bring along your credit cards or fat wallets/handbags!

You can compare this shop with the Dutch Bijenkorf and the German KDW. All big brands are present. 13 in a dozen.

Nice place to hide away at when cold and snowy. Actually nice at any time. Excellent food and cake. The next chocolate macaroons in the North. To die for.

Overpriced just because its NK so not worth to shop there and bad selection of clothes. Boring decoration, better of to go to the regular stores.

Friends from NYC told me that NK is the Bergdorf Goodman's of Stockholm and I agree, though the selections are actually more varied and accessible, including a book store and apothecary. The basement level is a great place to visit if you're bringing back a few gifts, everything from high-end glass to ginger cookies at the food hall. Not to mention the fashion.

NK is a terrific place for shopping, lots of nice brand stores with excellent service. BUT be sure to take care of Your ''natural needs'' before You end up geting in a hurry. The facilities are very hard to find and surpricingly under dimensioned - lots of stressed customers spending an unpleasent time.

We came upon this department store by chance and ended up spending over an hour in the home furnishing department. Splendid! Scandinavian home design at its finest. Even if you don't buy anything, it is worth the visit.

Similar to Selfridges in The Uk, probably not quite as magnificent as that or Harrodsburg though, but nice for a browse.

This upscale mall is great for finding amazing designer clothes, shoes and jewelry! Prada, Hermes and so on, or just stroll around

This is a beautiful & big store where you can find clothes, home decor, beauty products, accessories. There's a good mix between designer products with a reasonable price tag and the more pricey ones. Worth a visit :)

Nordiska Kompaniet (known as NK, and literally The Nordic Company) is an upmarket department shop which apparently has around 12 million visitors per annum. At the time of my visit it was relatively quiet and very pleasant to browse. My wife and I had lunch which was very nice in very pleasant surroundings. All of the items we saw looked to be of excellent quality which was reflected in their prices. NK is a very interesting shop to look through and it also has some really good eateries. Well worth a visit to this 100 year old building.

Coming from New York City, I love department stores. We first wandered in because we were looking for a nice bathroom--we found one in the back of the grocery store on the lower level (it actually wasn't that nice and you had to pay for it), but then we spent an hour or so after that looking around in the basement housewares section. There were lots of Swedish/Scandinavian-specific brands which was a nice treat, not to see all the same old things. I especially loved the stationery and notebook section where they had a big selection of Ordning & Reda.
