Tucked behind down an alley way you'll find a spot worth finding. Had fish n chips lovey not oily, plump and juicy filets. Generous servings. Accompanied with a Scottish ale. Finished off with the best sticky date pudding I've had in years! They also have a good selection of whiskeys that I spent a bit of time discussing with the Irish bar tender. His knowledge was outstanding for a laddie so I bought him a shot of Writers Tears as well. Worth a visit, we will to return before we leave.

No secret, I LOVE an Irish Pub, and this one, located down a little alley off Broadway in Newmarket, is definitely worth trying to find! We had a large family gathering there, and the atmosphere is great. Food lovely (we ordered far too much), loads of choices for vegetarians/vegans, good service, great night! Definitely recommend, Rox :) #vegan #ibsvegan #tummyfriendlyvegan #legallyblondevegan #glutenfreevegan #fodmapvegan

Had an early pub meal here recently, we have been before and were impressed with the food, very fresh, fish and chips with crispy batter and gurnard in a thick fillet. I had the homemade pie on recommendation of the barmaid and it was delicious, full of meat and very tasty. The pub itself is a typical Irish pub with lots of dark wood. We have only been in there early but hear it gets "shakin" later on several smaller rooms with pool table and a dartboard, plenty of atmosphere and friendly staff. Great value for money

After the frustration over a lack a places to drink whilst visiting we ventured down the side street to find this little gem Drinks were fine and food pretty good and not rip off pricing. Service was good and bar staff Miles ? friendly.

Great little find down a driveway this fantastic little Irish pub. For lunch I had delicious Beetroot salad and husband had the best Chicken wings. Great service. Highly recommend a visit. Place a bit shabby but meals and service worth a visit

We had scotch fillet salad and chips here last night with a glass of house chardonnay. Beautifully cooked steak, medium rare and a very acceptable wine. Staff are friendly and obliging. There are lots of beams and wood-floors, tables and walls and everything is worn and welcoming. We love coming here.

We visited this little pub on our first night in New Zealand. The meals were good and the karaoke was great fun. Great sound and a very willing host made for a night of fun. Would return if I am in the land of the long white cloud.

Lovely little Irish pub with great reviews BuT our visit was a little disappointing when the waiter still got our meal order wrong even after it was repeated several times! We ordered the roast beetroot salad with goats feta and walnuts which was very nice, as was the fish and chips. The two steak meals were well done instead of the medium ordered. Meals weren't big but not bad for price (except for steak)

Went for dinner here and atmosphere was just great! Nice Guiness on tap, simple pub food at a great price. Really friendly atmosphere and comfortable environment for a work meeting or dinner.

it has been about 13 years since I was last here an the place hasn't change which is a good thing! Great atmosphere, great bar food. Had shrimp popcorn, roast pork (not rolled) and steak meals. Quality of meals excellent, steak marbling created soft and tasty meat, pork with roast potatoes, peas, carrots, gravy and crackling. Always eat here when in Newmarket as we love the Irish bar look and atmosphere.

We went on a Sunday night in the offseason, so it was not crowded. They had Irish fiddlers playing music in the background that really created an atmosphere. We both had the Fish and Chips which were just OK; but the local draft beer was excellent and the date pudding and ice cream we had for dessert was perfect. The pub is on a side street off the Main Street in New Market, and can be hard to spot.

Its wonderful here, in my 3 years as an Auckland resident the place has not changed one bit and is all the better for it. Grubby, live music, blaring tv, barmaids who can barely be bothered to serve you, all the things one finds in pubs in the British isles i wouldnt swap it for anything. I sound cruel but this is so refreshing after the corporateness of most bars. One complaint, could i have a pint of kilkenny rather than three quarters of a pint with a quarter frothy air?

Popped in Saturday late afternoon for a drink. 2 staff behind the counter excellent, chatty, friendly and made us feel very welcome. Guiness my husband tells me was good, as was my sav blanc.

This is just like being in London or Dublin but the Guinness (& other beers) is better. Cleanest pipes in Auckland!.Great food & always something happening...darts, pool, quiz etc. Friday night live band not to be missed. Must be good as seems to be half full of real Irish people! And it's a bit like Cheers with friendly & interesting regulars.Major sport always on the big screen too.

Not only does this wee pub pour the best Guinness in town, the food is better than your average pub grub. It's a welcoming spot and many a friendly face. Don't go past this place, you'll be missing something special!

What's the difference between a pub and a bar? A bar is where you go to meet your friends; a pub is where you go to make new friends. And the Claddagh is a great example of an old school pub. Friendly staff, friendly regulars and the best pint of Guinness in Auckland (officially!). The interior of the place was brought from an existing old pub in Dublin 20 years ago, so there's a real authentic feel to the Claddagh. Landlord Mike and his lovely staff work hard to make sure there's always something going on - bands, quizzes, karaoke - there's even a regular Ukulele Ceilidh! The drinks are well priced and the wholesome food is served in Irish Pub sized portions, and is all the better for it! Regular gourmet evenings matching drinks with foods are another well loved event. All in all the Claddagh is a real home from home.
