I loved the Sabrage Bar. I could share a great drink-or two!-with my cousins and totally tune into the positive vibe emanating from the establishment. I really liked the range of wines on offer while the service was very charming as well.

a bit pricey on the drinks, but so is every other place in the viaduct. comfortable chairs, street view only

the bar has nice ambiance and is good for a drink before or after dinner. Probably good to hang out in on a warm evening.

Terrible service and prices. It is a lovely place and setting however. I expect much better service from Sofitel. Very disappointing.

This is a nice little bar. The atmosphere is great. A good variety on offer and there is also a good selection of food. I would highly recommend the cheese croquettes and the pate. Nice place to unwind.

Come here, sat in the corner and waited all night only to be stood up by a hot Thai girl I met on K road. Drunk from the extensive drinks menu and ate all the chill nuts and left a looser, no one noticed as there were plenty of lonesome looters there that night.

Good bar scene for the guests of the Sofitel Hotel. With so many great outdoor seating areas nearby, this is a place for a nightcap amongst guests. There is some outdoor seating towards the water - otherwise you have a view of the front sidewalk and street. Professional bar service and good drinks though.

Sabrage has typically stylish Sofitel hotel decor with kind, efficient staff, delicious food from the hotel menu (omg, the chicken liver pate!) and a great list of champagne and wines both by the glass and bottle. It is hotel pricing but the wonderful service matters. The nook tables are cosy and comfortable but club like, the window tables survey the street scene. It is a top spot if you are a wine lover or just looking for a few drinks with friends out of the busy city.

Small bar, slightly lacking in atmosphere but perfectly adequate. Pricy but that's par for the course in a 5 star hotel in Auckland...

As a guest of the Sofitel and tired after travelling so decided we'd have a lite meal in the bar... Service was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious.

As Accor members, we stay and eat at Accor hotels regularly. On New Year's Eve we were staying at our city apartment, and decided to visit the Viaduct before the fireworks, and eat at Sofitel. They weren't serving a la carte, and we didn't feel we could do justice to their special NY buffet. Instead we opted for something to eat in the lounge, and based on the price thought that the hamburger platter would be something special. It was expensive, and really awful - dry, hard and minute. The service was also pretty average - no-one came to see if our food was alright. They also wouldn't extend our normal Accor members' privileges as they said it was New Year's. Stands out as both the worst burgers and the worst Accor experience we have had. The only saving grace was their location next to the water on the Viaduct - always special.

Arrived with a group for a night cap before retiring to the hotel for the night and, although the staff were still behind bar with quite a few people in the bar, were told that we had missed last orders. It was only 10 past 10. Come on how about being a bit customer focus for your guests. Went down to the viaduct and received some service at another bar

Attached to the Sofitel and near several office buildings, the Sabrage Bar at times looks like the monkey house at the zoo with too many monkeys - especially the baboons with their bright red behinds. (You know who you are!) In all the years I have been staying at the hotel, I would frequently walk by either heading out to dinner or returning from my day and wonder why anybody would jam themselves into that space. The stench of cologne and desperation could take down an elephant. On my last trip my avoidance of the bar did not go unnoticed. I was invited by the front desk staff to enjoy a complementary drink the in bar. I assumed that it was a courtesy extended to all the guest. Until one evening as I was coming back, the young man who worked there - impeccably dressed with excellent manners - invited me in for drink. The monkey house had cleared out and what I found was an interesting little nook where I could sit at the end of my evening and enjoy a beverage without the shrieking. The decor of the bar is interesting - think Las Vegas in the 1990s - with gold and wood as the main design elements. There are little nooks and tables filling up every inch of space as well as a large circular banquette which I have noticed to be "baboon central." But tonight, I had it to myself. That, my glass of sparkling champagne and my thoughts as I stared out across the empty room save for myself and a couple necking in the nook. I was not able to find the bartender when I left but I did see him the next day and he invited back in for a drink that evening. Very charming, very hospitable. I took a seat near the fireplace which is at the other end of bar and watched the late arrivals come in for a convention that was gearing up. Sensing my discomfort at having my quiet shattered by the men-boys, the bartender asked if he could pour another glass for me and have it sent to my room. So charming. I cannot say that I plan on becoming a barfly but when the opportunity presents itself to enjoy a delicious drink in a quiet space served by someone who is dedicated to your needs, I will take the elevator down to Sabrage.

Beautiful and cosy bar within the Sofitel, but lacking atmosphere and the service was minimal indeed. A nice selection of wines, brandies and spirits are available, but the prices are quite high, beware!

We received a free drink each as part of our Accor membership. We were happy to stay on and have another drink as this bar is a lovely place to relax, we even had our children with us.

Ended up here for a coffee after dinner and drinks and... Wait for it... The coffee machine was turned off (1015pm) so we were offered plunger coffee instead. On and $7 for a can of red bull. Plus an extra 3% if you pay by credit card... Terrible.

.... which is why I suppose it was fairly quiet (read "dead"). I had to just about bash the staff to get any attention or a drink. We left as soon as we could. What a shame.

We stayed at this hotel and went to the bar to kill sometime and get a snack. Staff were really nice and helpful and made some delicious mojitos. We just some hot chips off the bar snack menu, it all arrived pretty swiftly.
