Very nice room, funky style, good service. Comfy bed, big bath, surprisingly quiet given location. We were across the hall from the bar & next to the cafe / restaurant. This is a special occasion type place for us, just because of the price. But it is worth it if you want a special night.

Excellent accommodation and everyone served with a smile. Very well located central down town. Rooms are very spacious and cleaned to perfection. There is a great atmospheres throughout the whole place. Best Croissants I have had in a while. Thank you.

A delightful art deco hotel, convenient for queen street shopping. Attention to detail of the art deco restoration, is matched by attention to detail in service provided by attentive and friendly staff. Restaurant is top notch. Lots to like.

Charming place, great location and all, but housekeeping was very persistent on their turn down service. Already in bed, showering or enjoying the tub they would knock until you answered in a dripping towel. Remember the tassle in the evening and you'll have a very pleasant stay.

I had been wanting to stay at Hotel DeBrett for several years. My partner and I finally stayed one night a few weeks ago to celebrate our anniversary. The staff were lovely - very welcoming and efficient. We had requested the valet service, however staff were unable to drive the vehicle (it is a left hand drive). After watching several attempts to turn the vehicle on, my parter decided it would be safer if we did it ourselves. The bill was reduced from $40 (valet charge) to $30 (self park) - so no issues there. Upon checking in we were told we had been upgraded to a loft suite. When we reached the room there was a card wishing us a happy anniversary - very sweet. The room itself was pretty average, quite pokey and the couch was awful. We wanted to watch the rugby but there was no Sky. There was a fair bit of street noise too - then again it was a Saturday. This is the main reason for the 3 stars. I would give it 3.5 stars if possible. Overall, it is a lovely hotel in a great location but for us - paying $440 for the night, it just wasn't up to scratch. You would be much better paying half that and staying in a 5 star chain - like Stamford Plaza or something.

This is a very well placed, small but perfectly formed, hotel in the centre of Auckland. It is beautifully presented; the staff are extremely helpful, professional and pleasant. We did not eat at the restaurant but have in the past and can say that it has a livley, interesting, colourful and pleasing ambiance. The food was good too. We ate breakfast this time and the petit déjeuner was simple, balanced and relatively healthy. My husband ate from the menu and enjoyed his dish very much. We had ordered a deluxe suite and it was roomy, well appointed, the bed was very comfortable, the electrics simpler than most hotels, the TV's all worked without having to resort to instructions. There was secondary double glazing and this worked beautifully; the heating/air con was simple to use and not noisy. The decor was, as can be seen in the hotel web-site, colourful, opulent and sumptuous. I was disappointed in the sitting room of the suite since it looked to be set up more for a business meeting, with a large table dominating the room and a small sofa squeezed at one end - this impression, of a business room was confirmed by the prescence of a roll up screen and a projector. So, for us the notion of a deluxe suite was not delivered. However, I found what was usable was very comfortable and I will stay again - with provisos.

My wife and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. Booked the superior room, which was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Staff are polite and go the extra mile to ensure you are looked after. Each room at this hotel has a unique art deco design and is the room is well insulated and quiet. Located on Auckland's High Street, a central city location which is ideal for shopping and eating out. A plethora of cafes, bistros, and fine dining options within walking distance. We dined at the Hotel DeBrett kitchen which was fabulous as usual (we have eaten here on three other occasions). Renowned for beef and lamb dishes, so I would recommend choosing one of these options. The bathroom was immaculate. Rainfall showerhead, separate toilet and a large bath complete this hotel's classification as a 5-star choice. Most booking options come with a complimentary continental breakfast which is substantial and tasty.

This hotel was recommended to me. It was great. Extremely friendly staff. Very good location in the middle of the city. Small / boutique hotel with a lot of style. Room was large, bed comfortable and nice bathroom. My room was next to the restaurant but it wasn't noisy at all and there wasn't any noise from the street. I only stayed one night and wish i had stayed longer!

A small boutique hotel, in the centre of Auckland. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with work areas and excellent bathrooms. The choice of bath or shower and separate toilet combined with heated floors were welcome. The staff were friendly and helpful and the onsite restaurant was excellent. I usually stay in the large chains, this was an excellent and welcome alternative. Highly recommended

There is nothing better when you arrive in a new country or town than to feel at home ... at least in the hotel. The size, decor, comfort and quality bar and restaurant of the Hotel DeBrett just offer all of this. And you are in the heart of the city. What else?

Very funky and warm. Really enjoyed staying in a hotel room that wasn't your traditional style. Loved all the retro furnishings. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. Happy to give you tips on what to do in Auckland

I spent 4 nights here and moved rooms a couple of times as the first room (2.2) was next to the elevator and the noise disrupted my sleep and the second room was a little small (2.11). For a small fee we upgraded to a loft suite (2.3) which was truly fabulous. The decor is stylishly funky with a mix of retro wooden furniture, brightly colored carpets and light fittings and mirrored wardrobes. A spiral staircase led from the entry room to the bedroom and bathroom which contained a walk in wardrobe. The bed was sublimely comfortable, the large bathroom had 2 basins, a bath, shower and toilet and the toiletries were lovely. The common areas were full of character, the service was exemplary and the food and wine was of a consistently high standard. I would love to stay again when I next return to Auckland.

We stayed four nights in one of the duplex suites and loved every minute. Wonderful welcoming staff, lovely rooms, and totally quiet. The petite dejeuner breakfast was delicious. The lounge and restaurant are excellent. You can walk to everything from the location. Would stay again.

Stylish interior, very good service, nice restaurant and perfect location. We stayed there twice, before and after our trip to Fiji, and they were happy to keep our extra luggage there that we didn't need for our trip. Also, during the first stay we had forgotten some items in our room that they found and kept for us when we returned - very thankful for that! Would definitely stay again.

Great impression on entry but went downhill from there. We ordered brunch. Mine arrived without the side so I had to wait. When it arrived I dived into my breakfast only to find a hair in the egg. I sent it back. They apologised profusely and took away but left the side order to go cold while I waited for the replacement. By the time I got the meal intact my friend had finished. The cost of side was removed from the bill but when we went to pay they rang up the bill for the wrong table. If we had not noticed we would have paid for four people. We won't be back.

I stayed 3 nights in a stylish loft suite (sitting room, 1/2 bath downstairs and cozy, comfortable master suite on second flood). Truly a perfect place to stay in the the heart of it all! The decor is super fun and the design of the hotel super swank. All the accompaniments needed for a perfect stay are included. The ensuite had heated floors a soaking tub and separate rain shower. I honestly did not try many restaurants during my stay because I enjoyed the restaurant and the amazing chef creations each day! The staff is wonderful, personable and truly a joy to see each day. I have stayed all over the world and believe this is one of the nicest most comfortable hotels I have stayed in.
