This is less busy than Dam square so could be a good back up as a decent navigation point. There are some decent bars and restaurants around the area catering for all tastes, from stag do's to upmarket cocktail bars.

Great little square to stop for a drink and indulge in some people-watching... It's an old butter and dairy market square, named after Rembrandt van Rijn (obviously). The statue and sculptures (a 3D rendering of Rembrandt's 1642 "The Night Watch") in the middle are nice, and attract tourists who pose like goofballs for all to enjoy... We needed a place to rest our swollen feet and really enjoyed taking a break on one of the heated terraces, with warm drinks and fleece blankets (early March).

When visiting Amsterdam we always stay in this square. It's so lively and always has a great atmosphere which is perfect for us. If you don't like noise then maybe don't stay here as there are quite a few bars around which do cause a bit of noise disruption if you want an early night, but this isn't a problem for us. I like it personally. Great location for gay bars such as Amstel 54. Great cafes around and lovely to sit outside, especially when it's sunny. Tram stops in the square which will take you anywhere you want to go, so convenient if you don't want to walk. I personally walk everywhere as you see more of the city. Last time we stayed was just before the Euro Gay Pride and they were setting up a stage for a concert in the square, unfortunately we left just before which was a shame. Will plan this better in the future as it would have been amazing! Would recommend staying in this area, but either way pay the square a visit when in Amsterdam.

Really nice, lively square surrounded by lots of bars and clubs. Great statue of Rembrandt in the centre of the square. This was probably my favourite square in Amsterdam, not only because it's probably the nicest but it's got lots going on. Busy, busy, great for a place to drink and people watch. While we were there Ed Sheeran was doing a tv interview at the Schiller Hotel. Interesting.

A great place to shop. Many boutiques available. Just walk down the streets and you can find most of the brands for clothes, shoes and many more.

Strolling on the Rembrandtplein is having an encounter with the personages off the famous painting of Rembrandt "The Nachtwacht" or an encounter with history. It's a nice place to walk and see a typical Amsterdam plein

Rembrandt square offers bars and good restaurants often frequented by the Dutch (Dutch chanting, etc.) as opposed to the Leidse plein (square). It also offers a beautiful old cinema (go look a movie over there).

The place is very close to the city center and most of the tourist attraction including the De Wallen or the Red Light District

One of the 4 social squares of Amsterdam! A must visit & enjoy! Rembrandt square has 50+ bars and restaurants. Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Drinks, Coffee, Dinner, Dancing, Nightlife. It's ALL there. Can get very busy. Find a seat outside one of the many restaurants and watch the world go by! Visit!

Worth a quick visit for all lovers of Rembrandt Night Watch, which is reproduced here in bronze. You can take your picture "inside" the painting.

In all my visits to the Dam I had never seen the statues but I have to say I it was well worth getting of the tram to see . I've posted some pics so see what you think . One of the reasons to get a check card for the transport system is you can jump off the tram or bus when you see something good and then jump back on when you've seen the attraction.

Your far better off exploring else where, Liedsplein for e.g. as this is basically a concrete square with a large Hotel, and a couple of nothing special cafe's...
