This restaurant serves up traditional-style Dutch food that is some of the best in the city. They have an outdoor terrace when the weather is nice. It’s a small, popular restaurant, so make reservations in advance.

(Dutch Food)The walls of the restaurant are plastered with photos of mothers, and the menu features all the Dutch classics. You can even order a dinner sampler with a variety of typical dishes on one plate.

This is an annual pilgrimage when visiting Amsterdam, I still haven't managed to work my way through the whole menu, but so far everything is good. Great atmosphere, great food and attentive service

After waiting for an hour there were two tables available both outside, and they sat 3 persons that just arrive, before us, we took 5 minutes to order we were three adults a 11 years old, kid the table they gave us was outside, it was cold but we could bear it for just an hour that we thought it would take our dinner time, an hour after we were not given even a glass of water the waitress came saying they had a problem with the computer and the kitchen and our food was not order so she had to ask everything again ... we spent 1 hour and 40 minutes waiting for the food, they brought us a soup that was not the one we order and it was cold, finally the brought the plates, food was fine but for that moment we were freezing , they didn't came to apologise they didn't even discount the cold soup they were really rude, one of my friends ask for our free dessert just kidding and the waitress said it was not possible ... I don't want to eat for free that was not the point but while the employees were smoking on the front door we were sitting in the cold waiting at least they should have come to say sorry !!! Everybody can have a problem the difference is how you take care of them, they don't care about customers that's the sad part, it's a pity cause if you do so may be the can leave the restaurant happy.

We decided we wanted a typical Dutch meal and that is exactly what we got. The food made us feel like we were sat in a old Dutch lady's home and getting that perfect home cooked meal we craved. You will not leave hungry that's for sure. Definitely somewhere I'm going to take my family when they come to visit. Highly recommend this place!

By far one of the best meals we have had during our stay. Great Dutch country-home cooking. It's worth the trip to this restaurant gem. We got really lucky and managed to get a table. Reservations are a must for Saturday night. You will not be disappointed.

Had seen this restaurant written up in a travel magazine and decided we HAD to try it during our recent holiday in Amsterdam - well worth the visit! There is a definite quirkiness to the restaurant with mismatched china and chairs and there is a casualness to the staff but it works brilliantly! We enjoyed ALL of our dishes (with lots of sharing with each other to try other dishes!). Almost all of the staff spoke very good English so if your Dutch is non-existent, don't worry about it. Moeders is on our list that we are telling our friends to make sure they hit when they visit Amsterdam.

Very good food. Crowded space but lucky to get a table. Price was great. Bring a photo of your mother to give to hang up. Lots to look at.

This is a real Dutch restaurant. Dishes are not good looking but very tasty and good. Staff are friendly and this restaurant has got a very nice story about the mothers... Ask them to tell you about it

Our starters consisted of bread with freshly prepared hummus made by their Moroccan chef which was very good. The main course was Hollandse Rijsttafel, i.e. "Dutch Rice Dish." Various dishes of sausage, bacon, mashed potato with sauerkraut, red cabbage, boiled potato, boiled beef with onions and boiled beef with mustard were produced. (N.B. No rice!). This was priced at 20 euros per person. This is perfect on a cold winter's day as it is a hearty hot food stodge. This was all washed down with a red Beaux Lieux, French 2015 vintage merlot and followed by coffee. All staff speak English and are very friendly. Wheelchair accessible and pavement tables on the quiet street.

Also known by its Dutch name Moeders, this lovely restaurant serves delicious stamppot, green pea soup (tastes yummier than it sounds) and a nice pint of beer. Portions were generous, my wife and I don't have huge appetites so we could share a stamppot and a green pea soup and 2 pints of beer which was more than enough. The interior has lots of pictures of mothers and plates are all different because they were donated by different mothers. Very cool concept

Heard about this place from locals and leaflets, so thought we'd give it a go. Had the pea and bacon soup which was lovely, and then hotchpotch for main. It was good, and I enjoyed what I had, but there was just too much of it. Glad I got to try some traditional Dutch food though. The staff were lovely though and the whole restaurant is quirky with the mismatched plates/cutlery.

If you are in a hurry, go to McDonalds or get some quick Dutch fries. At Moeders, you probably will need to wait for a table and the service will take it's time but it well worth the wait. I suggest getting a soup as a started and the mix platter dish with traditional food so you can try a few local dished. Follow it all up with a wonderfull apply pie for good measure. The decor of the restaurant is one of a kind and if aren't paying attention, you might miss the fact that there aren't 2 plates or 2 pieces of cutlery alike. From what I was told, by the time they got the restaurant ready, they didn't have any money left for cutlery and tableware so they invited friends over and had them bring dish and cutlery. Not sure if this how it came about but I definetly like that idea.

Fantastic night out as a family for a traditional Dutch family meal. Service was friendly and relatively quick and when we were given our meal, we were blown away. The whole feeling of the restaurant was relaxed and little things such as the cutlery and crockery being deliberately mismatched made it all the better. Amazing! Not to be missed.

I love the fact that every wall is covered in frames of people's mothers. It's so warming. People's tables are all so close that they chat to one another- it's so Dutch it hurt! The food was great- simple but great. I recommend sharing the Dutch ricedish, as the menu says, as then you can get the chance to sample all the different things they specialise in.

They are friendly, but we wait for an hour without any food and explanation. In this hour, the waitresses passed us for thousand times, but they just didn't care if you are the customer or not, treat you like an invisible person. Only when I asked, they started ti check but didn't even come back with some explanations. But each of us got one free drink, that's it.

Also known as Moeders (Dutch spelling), this cute restaurant was friendly, food was great and we felt like we ate authentic Dutch home cooking. Many Vegetarian options, Was not touristy and our waitress was as kind as a mother would be. Do not miss this!

Food, atmosphere and service was beyond compare. My waitress thought I had waited too long for my main meal (I hadn't noticed) and gave me a free drink. The Hotpotch was delicious, the decor was awesome and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Can't wait to go back :)

We were after traditional Dutch fare and found this restaurant on our first night in Amsterdam. Unfortunately it was full to bursting so we looked into booking online & are so glad we did! What a treat! Beautiful food, friendly, helpful staff and well worth the price. A definite if in Amsterdam...but make sure you book in advance so as not to miss out. We had to take an early slot - as it is such a popular place - so were there at 5pm for opening, but the food is so filling I'm glad we did. Large portions of homely goodness served by friendly staff, what more x an you ask for!
