Great pricing and location. Rooms aren't that modern but they are clean and all en-suite. The renovated bar downstairs is the perfect place to start a night and their basement club is the perfect way to end a night!

Oh boy where to start. Had an absolutely miserable stay. Firstly no where was it mentioned that you have to wait until 1pm to check in. This resulted in our group wasting a morning waiting to check in. When we got to our room (a six person room on the top floor) we found that they were very basic, there weren't even ladders to get to the top bunks. Nothing really wrong here, you get what you pay for. Then sat on the beds and found that there was a bed bug infestation going on in the room. Bed bugs where coming out of every nook and cranny of the room. One of our group slept in the room and woke up 2hrs later covered in bed bugs. We killed about 200 of the creatures before we went to get our room exchanged. The staff at the reception desk split the group up and we changed rooms splitting the group up and telling us that they would again change our room the day after (to do this we had to check out and re check in again resulting in us wasting another morning) The staff also told us that they knew that the room was infected, according to them it was treated. I find this hard to believe, the amount of bugs would suggest that the staff simple ignored the problem and rented the room out again. The worse part of it all is the fact that our luggage spent some four hours in the room with the very real possibility that we brought bugs with us home from vacation.

The best thing about this hostel is that it is situated in the vicinity of the busy main road that is strewn with shops. The bus stop is very nearby making it convenient for the travellers. Speaking about the hostel, its decent and good for solo travellers. Besides, their breakfast buffet is absolute value for money.

Perfect this was exactly what we needed as a group of friends, everything was clean, staff were friendly and polite. Very good location. Breakfast was simple and easy and had a good choice. Decor was funky around the hostel. Over all a really nice experience thank you!

We have stayed with Hans Brinker on 3 occasions in the last month, we simply lowed it so much! Very clean rooms and bathroom, large beds, towels changed regularly. Buffet breakfast, bread rolls, cheese, ham, fruit, coffee, various kinds of tea, sweet croissants, jam, butter, yogurt, cereals and much more... Great, close to city location (3km walk) with super well informed staff that are always happy to help and support you no matter your need or request. Hostel is huge, with mini pool and garden area where nice music is played in the evening and "happy hour" drinks are being poured. Wifi worked good, but not in all the rooms we have stayed in, check with staff before checking in.... We were allowed to leave our main luggage in lockers for few weeks while we have travelled Europe. We were amazed with the level of support ! Simply WOW! Staff were happy to order taxi, uber to Airport and help us with tips on where to shop, each and get a metro.... Great decor ! Thank you all! We will be back, HUG MORE! All the best! Marta and Reva

For the "worst" hostel is pretty good still, being the cheapest in Amsterdam and located in Leidseplein. The clubs in this area are good and there's so many to choose from Melkweg, Sugar Factory, but don't forget to visit the club in the basement of the hostel, usually quiet on week nights but drinks are cheap and stays open real late ✌🏻

Ok, so this is a very basic hotel but you get what you pay for. The beds were comfy in very basic rooms. Breakfast was adequate and nice to be included. Hotel us in an excellent condition. Only downside was broken lockers in the room but we kept our valuables with us at all times so ignored this basic issue. We would stay again.

I stayed here august I was not aloud to check in at 1pm I was made to wait till after 2pm and the excuse was " it's 2pm on weekends" customer service lady was very rude . This was not specified anywhere on my booking reservation see pictures . From my trip I got bitten from bed bugs NOT MOSQUITOS which they seem to put it down as they don't want to admit liability see pictures! This is probably been the worse stay in "Amsterdam" and reception don't seem to know how to treat their customers , "disgusting" customer service! I complained to the 3rd party and the hotel and hotel ignored the 3rd party 5 weeks later I'm still waiting . There excuses call back after 9:30 every single day because they don't want to admit they're in the wrong when they call after half 9! Still awaiting compensation that I WILL fight for! If you want to waste €177 or more for 2 nights in a twin room for the service I received and the bed bugs pay the price. The only good thing was the free breakfast! BEWARE!

This is an excellent hostel if you're stopping through Amsterdam and don't want to pay hotel prices. The number 2 or 5 trams will stop at the end of the street so it's really easy to get to, and then if you're struggling to figure out where it is on the street, there's a massive sign outside that says "hotel" so Yknow, hard to miss. Which is actually very helpful as just across the road there is a coffee shop for "coffee". The atmosphere in the hostel is wonderful, the staff are happy with the graffiti in the lifts and toilets because it actually gives the impression that people have been here and have helped make the hostel what it is; a haven for young travellers. Breakfast is included in the hostel price and is a decent spread, continental and English mixed. I would've loved a waffle but we can't have everything. The rooms are comfortable enough ALTHOUGH, I Don't know what the plan was with that ladder to the top bunk as pictured, that has one rung too many. Banged my shin a few times but I have the balance and grace of a drunk elephant. 4/5...stars? Is that what TripAdvisor uses? The missing factor is the fact the bottom floor is a club. Which is fine, but i found it odd that a club is in the same building as where people sleep. If that was my type of night, that'd be a 5/5. Unfortunately it didn't quite hit that mark but that's not to be taken as a point against the hostel, just my personal review. I'd definitely return, even just for the atmosphere and attitude of the staff. Fantastic.

The hostel is located in a very good area of the city. It is perfect for young people, especially between 20-25. The rooms are not beautiful and not very clean mainly the bathroom . Breakfast is good.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here in January for a night. The hostels great with a really lively vibe and right in the heart of Amsterdam. The rooms are basic and so's the breakfast but its ok for the money and a great base to discover Amsterdam. will definitely return

I stayed here for one night. I was nervous at first as the hostel seems to pride itself on being a dirty party hostel, but actually I was presently surprised. The room was basic but clean, although the shower was a bit rubbish. The breakfast was fantastic and the bar area was lovely. The location was perfect for many of the museums. Overall, it was great value for money.

We booked this hotel as part of our inter railing trip so weren't expected anything amazing but it really was good. The stafff are all so friendly and helpful (including all the maids - who clean and give you new towels every morning). The rooms are clean and a great bar and food thing downstairs, as well as a club. It's in a excellent location, so many shops, restaurants and "coffee" shops (happy feelings was our fav). Would deffo stay here again as prt of a travelling experience. 100% for younger people who don't take themselves too seriously and open to making new friends.

Hans Brinker Hostel is in a great location to Amsterdam - walking distance to almost anything. At first glance, the rooms are basic but acceptable, with a large locker to store everything and a fairly comfy bed. We stayed there for three nights. After the first night, I was utterly covered in bites that were typical of bed bugs (zig zag lines of bites in a trail, far more bites than if it was a mosquito, like the staff would have you believe in every other post). In addition, being home in the UK now I visited the pharmacy to get some relief and they assured me that these were bed bug bites, and not mosquitos. Upon asking reception staff if they could switch beds or assist me, they simply said they were full and that it was mosquito bites not bed bugs. In addition, under the bed had failed to be cleaned, perhaps where the bed bugs were hiding, and was covered in a thick layer of dust. The top bunk also has no ladder, which for shorter people makes it almost impossible to get up there. I understand Hans Brinker advertises itself as a very basic hostel, but ladders really aren't that expensive, and bed bugs are simply unacceptable. The breakfast was good for an included breakfast, and the bar was great with cheap drinks with the staff in the bar being really friendly. We were staying on second floor so the noise didn't bother us, but heard from people on the first floor that the noise from the club below was very bad and stopped them sleeping, so try get a room higher up if you insist on staying here. Personally, pay a little extra and get a bed bug free sleep until the management of this hostel admit they have a bed bug problem and sort it out!

The hostel is in a great central location for younger travellers, with a club within the hostel and a few not far down the road. For the price, the hostel isn't bad, with a complimentary buffet-style breakfast provided. However, the rooms can get very stuffy and the windows only open a crack, and the shower is just a pipe sticking out of the wall which soaks the whole bathroom. Under-bed lockers are provided (bring your own padlock or pay €5 for one at reception) and seemed pretty secure. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly.

Myself and some friends stayed here for a night, and although we were given sheets to put on the beds it was hard to ignore respectively on the matresses; a period stain, human faeces, urine, semen and what looked like vomit.

Very close to the centre and everything you have to visit in the city. Quite cheap considering it's Amsterdam, and breakfast included was great (they even had pancakes!) Cafeteria is big and cool ( beer-pong tables) with a big terrace where you can chill and lunch. But the best is the behaviour of reception staff, very professional, I forgot some important document in my locker and they have been very nice and are sending it to my country. I'll definitely recommend it for going with friends.

Excellent location, helpful staff, good and cheap club and complementary breakfast at a relatively low price! I would say the rooms can get a bit stuffy but we still had a great two nights here and would recommend to others!

If a bed and a shower close to the center is what you need this is the place for you. Quite noisy, alright breakfast and okay costumer service. The hot water in the bathroom was turned of and we didn't have hot water 1 of the 2 nights we spent there. We brought up our complaint and it was corrected quickly. Nice young international crowd.
