I went here as was looking for somewhere to eat Dutch food, and had just finished a red light district tour. I couldn't find the China town I was looking for for a bit lost and found this place. Looked busy and warm atmosphere although mis communication with waitress as she told me restaurant was downstairs but she thought I said I think rest rooms as toilet was downstairs nothing else. Once a seat was sorted service was efficient. My tour guide had told me that Dutch people like to eat chicken satay and a pickled vegetable dish so that's what I had here. Didn't take any pics as battery had died and was on charge here while I enjoyed a glass of Pinot Grigio. The food was pleasantly tasty and really enjoyed the dish. It's good for people watching if sit by window or can sit outside. Would recommend and return

We dropped in after midnight to be welcomed by friendly staff who were happy to show up some seating options and explain their beer menu. A warm and welcoming place to enjoy some cold beers!

This is a nice place for having a beer and some food when walking around in the city of Amsterdam. Some of their beer comes from their own brewery which makes it really worth a visit. Inside you have lots of table, but they also have a nice terrace with a view on the canal. Friendly staff.

I came here on the recommendation of a fellow TA-er and I really liked it. The terrace was crowded, but I went inside and sat at the bar, where it was much quieter and I had a couple of really nice beers from their extensive selection, including some from the in-house microbrewery (which you can also visit) and a nice chat with the lady behind the bar - and they had The Beatles on the sound system! Will definitely return on my nex visit.

A lovely pub right on the canal, great for people watching. We tried the beer tasting deal, 4 beers for €9.95, lovely! Really nice menu with plenty for a quick lunch. Cheese platter was nice too. Great for a quick look lunch.

great burguer altough Im not a fan of western food. nice tables with street sights and nice view. The burguer was really tasty, with a nice special tomato sauce. Ordered a selection of 4 home brewed beers... delicious!!!!

Nine family members had a meal here and the restaurant put us on the upstairs mezzanine in a nice, secluded area. Reasonably limited menu, but we all managed to choose something, and the majority of the food was good and well received. The one person who had steak asked for it medium rare, but when it came, it was so rare, it was still mooing and had to be sent back. Much better second time around. The service was excellent with a constant flow of drinks, and food served at a decent interval.

Could have been 2 stars if I wasn't the one writing the review. I took the Black Angus: was good, juicy. Overpriced (18€) but fine. Friend took the falafel burger: bad, dry, and again, overpriced. I guess this place is fine. Wouldn't recommend it though.

Words of my sisters who are picky as hell. It's a lovely pub on the canal. Small menu - but all is great. Large beer selection brewed inside - highly recommend the Witte Antonia and De Blonde Barber!

Great location of that there is no doubt. Watching the world go by on Spui. The food we had was the pasta (good but wouldn't recommend) and the fish and chips (the fish was a small'ish portion though the sauce and chips accompanying it were great). They add on 5% for a credit card payment which they do warn you about but is ridiculous in this day & age.

Needed a place to eat about 4:30 pm and happened on this place I had a bacon burger which was very good. Wife had a vegetarian burger which was good but huge and sloppy. They have more than burgers. Their house Monk beer was good - had a couple. French fries were hot and good. Waitress was a little difficult to track down and seemed like restaurant needed more staff. Nice view of canal. Overall - glad we stopped and ate.

We heard about this brew house via a conversation from someone who comes to Amsterdam regularly. It is right on the sidewalk and a great venue to watch people go by all day. The Mad Monk? not sure of translation beer is fantastic. 7.2% and great flavor. My wife has the blond and that went over well. Inside was spacious and looked like fun later at night. We were there in afternoon and the service was EZ in English and very prompt/attentive. I wigh we had brew houses like this in the USA. No pretentions, just great beer and service.

This is an excellent place! The owners are very patient and helpful! You can taste the beers produce at their small brewery! And the food is very good with large portions! If you're planning a trip to the "red light", this is the right to go to have a good and SUBSTANTIAL meal with helpful and friendly people and to enjoy a little piece of peace! I vively recommend it!

Fantastic range of beers with some brewed on site. Tried to educate my 19yr old son with some of the flavours, he wasn't impressed :-) We had a sharing platter also which was good value and tasty. Will return when I return!

One of the best in town. We have ordered their beer bread and butter, hamburger and duck brest. Perfect.

The settings + décor are really nice and I guess the beer is good. But don't bother going for dinner: the food is just AWFUL. I ordered a pumpkin soup on a very cold night, hoping to get something warm, creamy and delicious. I basically got a watery, cold broth. My friend got the duck and it was inedible as well. If you want to enjoy a good beer, then this is the place for you. If you're hungry, stay away.

We befriended a local at another bar and he offered to take us around. It was great. He brought us to another place then brought us here. I generally avoid this part of town while in Amsterdam, but I was glad he brought us here. There are two levels we sat upstairs. The place was bumping when we were there. They have tons of great beer brewed on site. Some of the best stuff I've had in The Dam. The service was impeccable as well. However, our experience might have been skewed by the fact that we had a local doing the talking for us with the wait staff. These local pubs are fundamental to Amsterdam culture. It was a fantastic place to end our brief stay. I left feeling welcomed and with sufficient libations. Would repeat in a heartbeat and recommend to anyone. They had a nice terrace out front which also looked like some choice real estate.

We stopped here before heading home and were surprised by the friendly and fast service. They serve beers from their own brewery. A must do in Amsterdam.
