The Florentine beef was amazing. Perfectly cooked, tender, with tomatoes and origan. Wonderful!

This place appeared in the DK guide, was strongly recommended by our hostess at our pensione, despite being nowhere near her establishment, and gets daft rave reviews here on this website. Meant we kind of had to visit. Had roamed around the market for gifts (hey mister I like your blazer, I have one just the same inside - er....well why would I want two?) and needed lunch. Pitched up and made the mistake of sitting outside. Don't - a couple of glimpses at the photos will show you that inside is the place to be. We had superb starters and pasta, with a gorgeous bottle of Vermentino, which would probably taste rubbish at home, but hit the mark perfectly. Place was heaving with all sorts. Bizarrely, lots and lots of Chinese wolfing bifsteak a la Fiorentina. Apparently the square outside was where it was invented, in honour of San Lorenzo who got toasted on a gridiron many years ago for some sort of pun on bringing a Roman official loads of people as the wealth of the church (limited sense of humour those chaps, but I guess you had to be there) Special mention had to be reserved for the flourless chocolate torte. This is up there amongst the very best. Every bit as good as the recommendations! Thank you so much.

After doing some research this place repeatedly kept coming up so we decided to visit. Don't let the queue out of the door put you off, it's definitely worth it and does down quite quickly! I ordered the carbonara and it had to be one of the best ones I've ever tasted! Good portion size too. Dessert again was delicious, we had the apple tart and the cheesecake, would definitely go back if I'm ever in Florence!

Outstanding food with the pappardelle al cinghiale to die for. Service could be improved but all in all a wonderful Tuscany culinary experience.

We visited Trattoria ZàZà twice during our short stay in Florence. Why? Extensive menu; fine preparation; and reasonable prices for the quality and service. We made same-day reservations both evenings; those who book earlier are seated more quickly. There are two glass-enclosed outside dining rooms, and several interior spaces in two buildings. We ate inside in two different and pleasant spaces. The first night, we shared a margherita pizza -- good, not outstanding. Then we enjoyed the ravioli in truffle cream sauce and the veal à la Nonna Ines, topped with fresh tomatoes and accompanied by rosemary potatoes. A well-priced Chianti classico was the perfect accompaniment. All delicious, served in good time and at proper temperatures. On our second visit, fresh porcini mushrooms were featured. We shared a crostone with porcini as an appetizer, and then ordered a risotto with asparagus and fresh-sliced black truffle and a veal scallop with porcini and rosemary roasted potatoes. Again, a Chianti classico was the perfect pairing. On both evenings, including a bottle of wine each night, the bill was under €75. This is not fast food, and the overall prices seemed quite comparable to what we would pay for a similar dinner at home.

We ate here our first night and loved it! The dessert was to die for! It was the cream something with like a caramel glaze...awesome! I'd go back in a heart beat. We ate in the little thing outside. Loved it. Service was great. Drinks were great (they have cocktails too).

We went for lunch because the trattoria we wanted to go to was fully booked and the menu looked reasonable. What a massive disappointment! the only bad meal we had in Florence. Three small bowls of indifferent pasta, a bottle of water and a very small glass of wine came to 47.50. For the same price we've had two courses and a litre of wine and in place's much more central and much better quality. The funghi in the tagliatelle were soggy and inedible and we were astonished to be charged a 2.50 coperta per head! Indefensible given the indifferent service.

Our favorite spot to eat dinner for our stay in Firenze. Service was fantastic and the food was outstanding. They have good vegetarian and vegan options as well. Their wine selection has something for everyone. For desert, I highly recommend their cheese cake. Simply amazing! We ended up eating here 3 out of 3 dinners while in Firenze. Just too good to go anywhere else.

The place is super busy with with locals and tourists. We did not have reservations but the place was highly recommended and we waited . It was worth the wait. We sat in the seating area outside overlooking the plaza. Great atmosphere. Menu had lots of choices. Our server spoke reasonable English and explained the items. Our party of four ordered different items - each one was delicious. My pasta was fabulous. Prices were quite modest. This place is within 15 minutes walk from Duomo - you can't go wrong here.

Food was very good with extensive menu choices . Not a fine dining option , but a good choice for a less formal meal in Florence . Service was good .

It was really busy when we arrived, which we took as a good sign as it was still quite early. Its a big place, they have 2 seating areas outside ,covered, but both nights we were inside which we preferred. The place has a really nice atmosphere and is quirkily decorated. Not sure about the dolls though. There is a lot of choice on the menu and sometimes when you see that its a worry but the food was lovely both visits. The melon and prosciutto starter is deliciously refreshing and quite a large portion. The mixed bruschetta is good and the carbonara and ravioli very tasty. Though we didn't have it, the steaks were huge and looked really good to share. Wine was excellent too. Staff on both visits were really friendly and though it was busy, the service was just right, not too slow and not too quick, gave us a chance to "soak up the atmos" as Mr Grouch says. On leaving, on both nights, there was a queue outside so that says it all really. Good food and good value. Go

Good service, barber did take time to go over menu and discuss different options. We had eaten a creamy siena pici pasta with truffles and pappardelle :)

We chose to go to Trattoria Za Za because our hotel manager recommended it and it was a quick 15 minute walk from our accommodations. We ate here 4 nights in a row because the food was excellent and the staff treated each person as an old friend. Marko and Chiara were excellent servers that offered honest suggestions on the extensive menu and were quick to provide excellent service. Each meals started with bread dipped in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. They have an excellent white house wine to toast the evening meal. We shared a house salad that was enough to feed 4 people. Then we ordered a variety of toast with different toppings including tomatoes, mushrooms, pate, and antipasti. The second dish was veal in a lemon sauce while I had Seafood Pasta. Each dish was excellent but I switched to the veal after tasting the wonderful flavors. No room for dessert. A note: This is a very popular restaurant that usually has a 15 minute waiting list even though it seats dozens of people. This is one Trattoria in Florence to dine just to watch customers order the Tuscan Steak that is sold by weight and could feed a family.

Large and busy restaurant, but the food is worth the wait. Price is good for the amount of food you receive.

I've dined at Trattoria Za Za several times. It was one of my go-to spots about 10 years ago when I lived in Florence for a few months and I was so happy to see it is still thriving in the same location when I returned this September. Za Za offers a wide variety of Tuscan cuisine at very reasonable prices. The food is excellent and you will find a variety of locals and tourists dining there. They are one of the only restaurants that stay open between the lunch and dinner hours, so a great spot to go if you are hungry at this hour. They have a cute indoor seating area, but I love their outdoor patios. Great for people watching and a perfect location near the local market! The retractable patio windows work well if you get some rain while dining outside too!

My husband and I ate here recently while in Florence. Everything was fine. I had some tasty meatballs and my husband enjoyed his pasta. The service was also good. One feature that may interest some is that in addition to English and Italian menus, you can go online and view the menu translated in a number of other languages that may be very helpful for travelers who are not so comfortable in English or Italian. The place does have a feeling of catering to tourists, but the food was good, the location is close to many of the big sites and it would be a fine place to have dinner.

This was recommended by a local and this did not disappoint. It has fabulous food (each of the 4 of us had something different and all were very pleased with the quality and taste of the food). The service is great and it is in a great location near the Mercato Centrale. I definitely recommend this restaurant and would go again while in Florence.
