For Slow Food: Head to the region’s capital, Florence, for all the prosciutto, pecorino and pappardelle you can handle, and don’t pass on the chance to dig into a juicy ‘Bistecca Fiorentina’ – a T-bone steak usually weighing in at around 1kg. You might want to bring a date.

First make sure you have a reservation - it's a small place with lots of authentic character. LaGiostra came highly recommended and totally delivered. We enjoyed the pear ravioli and the balsamic steak. The salad and pasta was also delicious. Put this charming restaurant on your list of places to dine in Florence!

Unexpected exceptional service and food. We came for of the best meals during our 3 weeks in Italy! Greeted with a complimentary glass of procecco and appetizer sampler plate. Wonderful bread, beautiful salad that they split for us. And the pasta was wonderful.

Most perfect Florentine restaurant. Very cozy and food was phenom. Highlights were pear ravioli, wild boar bolognese, pasta stuffed with burrata and white truffles. Also had veal scallopini and the cheesecake. Couldn't recommend more! Tried to go back again but couldn't get another reservation. Reservation is a must have.

We found this restaurant on accident when my phone GPS somehow brought us to the wrong place, and we were so happy for it! It was booked when we got there, but it looked so cute that we decided to make a reservation for the next night. First of all, the service was wonderful. Our waiter was very informative and friendly. The menu is in Italian, but don't worry, they will explain everything to you and help you choose. I had fish in a red wine sauce, and my husband had a steak, and they were both exquisite! The atmosphere lovely. The restaurant is located in an old carousel storage building and it is very quaint. The decorated the ceiling in fairy lights which gave a fun romantic vibe, but not too uptight.

We were recommended to this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The chef sent out a plate of about 5 small appetizers. The shrimp dishes were both amazing. The shrimp were enormous and cooked to perfection. The pasta was al dented with a fabulous sauce. And the bronzino with red wine and cherry tomatoes was perfect. The tiramisu was fresh made that day and unbelievably yummy. For what we ate plus 3 glasses of wine the bill was very reasonable.

We came in to this restaurant after a local store owner told us this place was really good. Boy were we lied to. First I will say I love Italian food I search for it high and low and I love trying different places. We came to this Ristorante and I will say the staff was very rude. The two servers we had was Dillion and Frusta. They may have been over worked with so many tables solo or just plain rude. We got our Aperitivo/Antipasta and it was just ok. Nothing to write home to mom about we got the Iberico Ham and the buretta which came out with only buretta and honey and a few pine nuts. Next came our Primo, we got the gnocchi which was not good at all. We took two bites and couldn't eat the rest. The Wild boar (which I would give a 3 out of 5 stars) was just ok and honestly since everything else was so bad why even bother. We also got the White truffle Ravioli ( How can they get this wrong) They did. We decided after having our Primo we couldn't spend another minute at this place we decided to pay the over $200 fee and leave.. We went to another Osteria which was amazing.. Moral of the story always trust your gut stick with a Osteria and not a Ristorante (this is tourist food that is over priced and none of the local go here.) Please don't waste your money here. Though the Ristorante was cute.. The food and staff were not good.. The only thing good there was the Prosecco and that glass was free.

Recommended by a friend who has dined here a few times. Reservations a must! Amazing experience from beginning to end. Prosecco and starter given upon arrival. We continued with beef carpaccio, pear & Gorgonzola ravioli and beef in a balsamic reduction. Wonderful wine '10 Brunello, finished with Brunello grappa. Owner onsite and visited each table numerous times to check in and wait staff was super attentive as well. Highly recommend if you want an overall fabulous event. Not cheap but you pay what you get for and this far exceeded our expectations.

While the food here is some of the best you will encounter in Florence. It is the atmosphere that truly makes it special. You will be made to feel like family if its your first visit or your tenth. I can't wait to return in December to one of my favorite places. Denste714

Friends recommended La Giostra. We booked a couple of days in advance, on a girls trip which included our 20yr old daughters. The setting is traditional, intimate, pretty, and it was an experience from the moment we stepped in. The service is superb and the genuine knowledge of food, wine and the menu was really useful. Watching our waiter decant the wine was itself pure entertainment. We all had steaks, with a Variation on Cooking and flavours. Perhaps the best steak I ever had. If you are in Florence....go go go!!! Fabulous food, atmosphere and staff.

We visited La Giostra on the recommendation of a friend. It's a pretty restaurant and has plenty of famous people pictured on the walls. The atmosphere is quite nice. Knowing from our accents we were Americans, they immediately threw us in the back of the restaurant with the other undesirable foreigners - this happened quite a bit in Florence. Service was fine, they put on a bit of a show pouring the wine to airate it; which comes off gimicky. The meal was hit and miss. The salumi were excellent. My wife's pasta was very mediocre, while my osso bucco was quite good. Tiramisu was very good as well. All in all, a disappointing experience based on other reviews, but average.

This place is amazing. The food, wine, ambiance, all of it. Probably skip the appetizer as the portions are decent, dessert is great, and they brought out a large plate of food as an app compliments of the chef/house.

I got to work with Miri, who handles the reservations for the restaurant, and was able to plan a great birthday surprise for my friend who was dining here for her birthday. She kindly helped me in ordering a few bottles of wine, and even printed out a birthday note PDF that I had sent her earlier through our email correspondences. She was very attentive to the detail, from being very responsive to my emails, and special inquiries, to keeping the secret for my friend's birthday for the dinner. They even added a complimentary glass of dessert wine to accomodate her birthday dessert! It was a pleasure to work with them, and had a very great customer experience, even though it was all done over email correspondence from the US!

We were recommended this restaurant by my travel agent and some friends. I had mixed feelings about dining here because I had heard it was only for Americans. I can say that is not true. There were many Americans, but also other Europeans dining there as well. The ambiance is so charming and Romantic, Cozy and beautiful. The food was excellent. We had burrata and prosciutto; pear ravioli and tagliatelle with mushrooms, osso bucco and steak. No room for dessert! This was more than enough food for 2 people - we couldn't finish it all. They start you with a glass of prosecco and some antipasto on the house. Wine selection was extensive. Service was excellent. Highly recommend!

Great night of dining with friends. Great ambiance, great service, great food. We spent a few hours here trying everything from the appetizers, to the pasta, to the entrees, to the desserts. Had some great wine, grappa, limoncello, nothing disappointed. The staff was very helpful and gave great advice on dishes. Definitely recommend!

Beautiful, romantic setting. Incredible service. Mouthwatering food to match. Yes, the balsamic steak is wonderful. Did not think the pear ravioli was amazing, but good. One of the most memorable items I ate my entire honeymoon, though, was their burrata appetizer. It's huge and just divine. Don't miss this. And don't miss this restaurant while in Florence. Reserve in advance.

My husband and I came here on a recommendation from a friend. The ambiance and decor is fantastic and the service is lovely. They even pulled out a special treat for our honeymoon. We especially liked the pear and blue cheese ravioli and the straciatella buffalo mozzarella with fig.

Absolutely delicious and authentic Italian food, served in sublime setting. Staff are attentive and friendly, and help with menu translation if needed. Book in advance, it is always crowded. Tip: don't skip desserts, the ricotta cheesecake was light, fluffy and miles away from any cheesecake you have tasted.

Ammazing restaurant. The severs and owner are all great people and very attentive. Being Italian I enjoyed there hospitality. We drank a lot of wine that was reasonably priced and had half Of the menu. Filet with foie grad was perfect.

Prince Soldano is the manager of this fantastic restaurant (he is not hard to find). Very personable. You may feel like a celebrity. The atmosphere is quant and warm. The staff is very attentive. Indulge in a beautiful wine to start, Barolo is a great choice! The appetizers were perfect: simple prosciutto or eggplant and zucchini carpaccio. The prawns were fantastic. Main courses were all very good, however, they are known for the Florentine Steak and the pear ravioli. Try not to miss either. We had a large party, I was able to taste both. The risotto was another treat. Shall we talk dessert-simply delicious: Tiramisu.

where do i start!!! I would never eat here again, we came here to eat based on other peoples recommendations. I understand that everyone has their own opinions and i am here to express my small piece of discontentment with the restaurant.(BTW, i told our concierge at Four seasons as well. He said that this was not a place that they recommended, but its a popular place.) A restaurant is more then just food its also an experience. we had the worst experience here. The worst amongst all the places we ate in Italy. To be fair, this place came highly recommended by our fellow visitors who raved about this restaurant, and when we walked by the restaurant it had been reviewed by Michelin for at least the past 4-5yrs, not started, by reviewed. They were able to accommodate within a 24hrs notice for dinner, that was wonderful. I had high hopes for this place. The decor was charming and lovely. The place was jammed packed on friday night. We were seated quickly about 5mins after a party of 10 in front of us and then the bad experience began. They poured complimentary preseco, lovely, except the waiter spilled the drink all over my husband. its a full/pour spill, not a splash. The waiter apologized profusely, and my husband dried himself up and we moved on. The Menu was lovely in English, two pages explaining the history of the restaurant and their love for food. Under their name La Gisotra it wrote in english "in FOOD we trust". now here is the problem, when you turn the page to the menu, not a word in English, everything in Italian. Why would anyone write 2 pages in English to advertise their love for food and their restaurant in English and then when it comes to the most important part the actual food, not a word in ENGLISH. I can only conclude pretentiousness. If its a true celebration of food, do it like the 3 star Michelin places. if you are annoyinged by the tourists, then why would u write 2 pages in English, and 'IN food we trust." again, i can only conclude pretentiousness. still, we navigated through the menus just fine, the waiter was anoying when i asked about the menu. I ordered the risotto on the menu, it was ok, the grain was different and when i inquired. I was told " I dont know, its just risotto." My husband had the wild boar pappardelle. He said it was good. then comes the bill and the it stated "GRATUITY NOT included." really?!!?! not even the 3 star Michelin places in italy ask for gratuity. This pretentious place writes gratuity not included in english, but not their menu. I am NOT saying that the menu needs to be in English at at all. but why would you have parts in English and asking for Gratuity in English. food was ok, overall experience is that this is a pretentious place try to be something.
