The food in this restaurant is authentic & delicious. The service is excellent and it was reasonably priced, which is hard to find in Amalfi! I had the mussels & they are the best I've ever had. The spaghetti bolognaise & the sea & land starter are also amazing. €12 for a litre of house wine & a complimentary lemoncello at the end of the meal were also highlights. Definately go here!

My wife and I had lunch here almost every time we went to Amalfi and the days we did not was because we found this place later! The service is friendly and quirky and the food was wonderfully fresh and with great flavour. I have to agree with the reviewer who praised the marinated anchovies, they were fabulous - had them every time. The spaghetti alle vongole was also superb. I would definitely go again on any future visit

After visiting Sant' Andrea we walked to the right of the Cathedral and discovered this lovely restaurant about a block up the street. When I read the menu I saw a few things I was looking for so we settled in. AC on a hot day was nice, the house red was excellent. We ordered the local marinated fish appetizer and there they were the most beautiful perfectly spiced pickled white anchovies, they were amazing. I have enjoyed these before but the Amalfi anchovies at La Galea were so fresh and clean. Plus octopus and cuttle fish! Next I had the fusilli with seafood in a fine spicy red sauce, pasta was homemade. My wife had spaghetti with clams, very nice and no broken shells. The staff were friendly and welcoming we noted an equal mix of tourists and locals. You get fine limoncello after your meal. Arrivederci see you soon!

Friendly service. Awesome food. Not super touristy and out the front trying to bring people in. The restaurant was full and we had to wait about 5 or so minutes for a table but it was well worth it for authentic Italian food. We both had fusilli with seafood and a side of eggplant to share. Highly recommend!!!

Happened to find this place on a busy day in Amalfi. Lovely cool setting. We had fried fish (served in paper) and a salad. Perfect lunch.

Located just within a stone throw away from the church steps and along the shopping area, this seafood restaurant, pizzeria is a great place to have a meal. Restaurant has a very nice cosy feel to it. The old man greeting everyone at the door step is very friendly and that's one of the reason why I went in the first place. The staff were very helpful and quite fast. The service was good and prompt. The food was excellent. We had fried seafood variety plate and spaghetti with local catch. The seafood was fresh and delicious. The prices are a bit above average but then this is a tourist spot. I'd recommend this place if you do get into Amalfi and happy eating.

Arrived in Amalfi from Rome, looking for lunch after the trip happened to pick this place and it was fantastic. Owner greeted us with a wonderful smile and even sang during our lunch, was a busy lunch and the service was still excellent, the 5 dishes of food we ordered were all spectacular italian fare. Usually make a rule not to eat at the same restaurant twice, but we will be back. Highly recommended.

Came to Amalfi for the day and came upon this restaurant. Had the prix fixe menu for 19€. 3 courses, including water. The food was very good and service was nice. We had a great spot near the door for people watching. We had spaghetti and clams and the spaghetti and anchovies and cherry tomatoes. Both were very good. I had the grilled beef which was good. It isn't like US beef, but very tasty. My husband had the fried squid and shrimp and he really liked it. The third course was the grilled vegetables which were quite nice, I finished off with a lemon sorbet that was fabulous. We would go back. With a liter of wine, our bill came to 59€.

We were lucky to find a table, the service was slow as the restaurant was full of people, but the food was excellent!

Fantastic food and service! Andrea and Rosaria were inviting, warm, kind, and made our experience a memory we will cherish for a long time to come. The Margarita pizza with mozzarella and basil was the best. We had 3 of them and took one back to the hotel!

This was a very nice restaurant, and we ate here twice. The pizza was the best we had, with a really good sauce. The waiters were attentive, and it was very reasonable

We visited this restaurant after the good reviews from here but where disappointed by the quality of the food. We had a pizza Marinara and some pasta carbonara. Both of them where just average. Will definitely look for a better place to eat.

Visited Amalfi town just for few hours, wanted lunch, most places were not yet open, so ended up here. We were the first clients, not very busy later on either, but had to wait quite a while to get served. Very disappointed with my pizza, the base was so thick and dense, the knife couldn't really get through! My husband's pizza was better, but nothing to write home about. It was "only" 8€, but I have had much better ones for less than that.

Quick and convenient stop where you can have local meal looking at the hustle a round, but nothing special. Very turist-oriented with is not my normal choice.

Spent a week in Amalfi and eventually used this as our go to restaurant. Great food and service ( especially enjoyed the veal) We tried a number of other restaurants in the area which were more expensive but not up to the standard of La Galea, highly recommended😎😎

We wanted to have lunch but not right in the main square by the beach in Amalfi. This place looked attractive and was pretty full early lunch time. We had a Caprese Salad, split a pizza and had some house red wine. The Caprese was terrific with local cow mozzarella and tomatoes. Perfect blend of spices, oil and vinegar. The pizza we had had tomato sauce, mozzarella and gorgonzola cheer and mushrooms. The entire meal (with some frizzantie water of course) was terrific and only 35 euros. Maybe not a cheap lunch, but tasty and no rush and a good time.

I'll keep this review short. Perfect food, friendly and professional service, clean and worth every penny, try the Spaghetti Vongale. 10 out of 10.
