When we arrived it was not very busy. The crowd was a nice mix between visitors and locals. Being a converted old passage makes the place interesting. The idea is to create a middle eastern street atmosphere

This restaurant offers Jewish/ Middle Eastern food. The menu has many healthy choices and suitable for vegetarians as well. The staff is very friendly and the service is great. I loved the hipster ambiance of the place. We ate there two days in a row.

I found this place on a list of top ruin bars in Budapest. It's not really a bar, but a restaurant with a ruin-like feel. They have a large selection of Palinkak (Hungarian spirits) and some of the best hummus and shawarma I've ever had. This is a great casual spot to add to your ruin "bar" crawl.

Terrific Hungarian/Israeli cuisine at an old ruin place in -- surprise! -- the Jewish Quarter. Delicious food, convivial surroundings . . . but so hectic on a weekend night that the waiters had little chance of completely keeping up. 4.5 stars.

Decided on Mazel Tov for our last meal in Budapest after a 10 day visit We ate from cafes and small bars to upmarket restaurants and this rates as the worst, most inattentive service. Entree was cleared just as mains arrived after that we may have been invisible. Despite summoning the next level on the floor to clear our plates and he saying “dessert” nothing eventuated. We summoned our original waiter and managed to get a dessert to share. The only time they were efficient was bringing the bill and it galls that service was included but not provided. While waiting for service,we watched the comedy of the toilets - identical double doors with the designation in small print about 2 metres above the door led to numerous people going in the wrong one and in most cases quickly retreating This lack of attention to detail really sums up Mazel Tov.

This place is amazingly beautiful. We also enjoyed the food a lot. It is mideast kind of food (hummus, falafel), but all we had was really delicious. Especially pastrami and shakshuka was awesome. It was not the cheapest, but definitely not overpriced. Just the coffee could be better.

We've been here for brunch with friends and bunch of kids. At the entrance, the hostess stopped one of the kids who stepped one step forward and did not stop at her. She was not kind, but I said, I might be too sensitive for that. The waiter was OK, he handled the kids fine and with patient. We had a big table booked and an other (extra) person was about to join us. We literally had to convince the hostess (here again) that we can add an extra chair to our table without blocking the corridor the staff use. This was strange, like bagging to spend money there??? Food was OK, but overpriced and did not give us any special experience. Brunch menu is NOT FOR KIDS here! We were paying separate. They have a separate cashier, which seems to be a great idea for this purpose, but on the other hand, I expect a restaurant to be able to split the bill if necessary without making their guests standing in line at a cashier. But the worst came here. I was probably not carefully enough searching the menu whether or not the tip is included. It was, but I did not recognize it. My mistake, no question. So I gave the usual about 10% tip. But NO ONE said to me that "Hey! The tip is already included, so no extra tip is necessary." The cashier simply said thank you and took the all together 20% (!!!) tip. Overall: This place seems to be run as tourist attraction, priced for tourists and all services are designed for tourists. Meaning, overpriced, unfair, just consumable food. NOT RECOMMENDED!

In Budapest they have this thing called ruined bars, where they take over a disused space and turn it into a bar\venue. This is one of them. Good atmosphere, food fairly good, nothing to write home about but the bar itself is really good and a very interesting space. With all the plants hanging down on the shabby, but clean space below, liked the place very much, staff were friendly and service was good, were were only there late afternoon, I suspect it's a full on evening experience.

A lovely setting and a change from the standard tourist fare in Budapest. The Israeli food was good but not amazing and the staff and service weren't anything special but the restaurant itself and menu made a good evening. Some great bars in this area also to finish the evening.

We were just passing by and when grasping the atmosphere, we couldn't resist 😉 It all went so well, from how you are welcomed, taken to a table, explained the menu, inspired suggestions for wines... in fewer words, impeccable service! And the food is the superb surprise. So nicely cooked and great display. A plus, they have many options for vegans and vegetarians! The ambiance also is very relaxing and nice. Would go there again! 😉

Admittedly we went because a relative runs the kitchen. But boy we're we surprised. The food is excellent. Could not find a fault. Broad menu, well thought out and tasty. Service was very good. What I love is when the atmosphere is as good as the food. This "ruin" restaurant is in a barely renovated space. Old world, broken down cool surroundings but very comfy. Loved the live music and the very social ambiance. I'd go again even if my relative didn't work there!

The variety freshness choice and authenticity of the food (modern Israeli) is indisputable However the service is 1. Very slow 2. Unenthusiastic 3. Apathetic 4. Dumb (ie if we are sharing dishes family style you should bring the plates for all 4 people) Will come again as Israeli modern cuisine is the best there is. But will be ready for the bad service

Came here tonight with a big group and loved it. Literally every dish we ordered was incredible (especially the hummus plate!) and they had great menu selections. Even though it was a Monday night, there was live music! The atmosphere is a ton of fun, intimate with strung lights and a vaulted ceiling overhead. Service was a bit slow, but absolutely worth it. Highly recommend the lemonade - but add mint!

Beautiful place, good food, relaxed atmosphere and great music. 2 can eat very well for under 12000. Would highly reccommend

Indeed, Mazel tow is spacious and has a great, friendly athmosphere, where you can sit under the sky, but still surrounded by walls, isolated from the busy and noisy neighbourhood. Food is reasonably priced, but beer is expensive compared to nearby pubs and restarurants. The hummus and falafel I had was good in my opinion, but far from being the best-in-town. To my surprise a 10% service charge was added to the bill, which is not so common in "ruin-pubs". Let me add that service was friendly, fast and attentive.

This is a really cool restaurant. Had a great lunch for two with a brewski for a very reasonable price. Quality food; had the chicken and falafel. Friendly staff and child friendly as well

We ate here twice as it a lovely lively restaurant with a very nice atmosphere. We chose the restaurant as it had vegan options for our daughters, who really enjoyed the houmous and felafel. The garden area is so pretty with fairly lights. Reasonably priced.

We had spotted this place the night before we actually visited and were intrigued by the beautiful interior space and the open kitchen. On returning the next night the quality and quantity of food did not disappoint, we ordered a few plates to share, all delicious. The service was pleasant and the atmosphere fun. They had live music, although I'm not sure this is a nightly occurrence but it did make the ambiance extra special :-)
