World-famous landmark of Budapest and Hungary. It was named after one of the major supporters and facilitators of its construction. Chain Bridge was the first permanent bridge between Buda and Pest and also the first one across the Danube. It was built between 1839 and 1849, in the period when Budapest started to evolve from a dusty Central-European town to a vibrant metropolis and has symbolized the connection between East and West, progress and development.

nice old large bridge in Budapest and in my opinion the best one there. It used by car but also from pedestrians at the sides of the bridge. At the begining and at the end there are lions statues. It's a nice place to take photos of the Danube and of course the bridge.

Walked over this several times, very busy. Lovely place to get photo's across the Danube. It connects Buda and Pest.

I was expecting something unusual in bridge design but found the "Chain" is an English translation of the Szechenyi family name who sponsored it. Good transition point though from Buda to Pest.

It's a beautiful bridge to cross to get to the Buda Castle. At night it is lit to perfection and such a great highlight of the city.

First suspension to be built in the world. Fantastic architecture and amazing views of both sides of the city.

This is the most popular transit between Buda and Peste. It is a busy walkway over the Danube. It offers wonderful views and photo opportunities. Not recommended for the height averse.

The Chain bridge in Budapest is a bigger version of the bridge in Marlow, which is twinned with Budapest. So we had to visit and see. It’s a great piece of engineering and a short walk over the Danube

We walked across the bridge to go to the castle. Was a beautiful bridge but very busy. Still it was a beautiful bridge, but I do wish the walking area was a bit wider so you don’t get stuck when people begin to take photos.

You can't go to Budapest and not visit/walk across the Chain Bridge. It's a short walk over the bridge and can easily be visited in between the Shoes on the Danube and heading over to the Castle District.

Worth a walk over from either side as it does provide photo opportunities of both Buda and Pest. It reminds me of a mini Brooklyn Bridge.

Great views of the city from both sides and along the bridge. It is a must to use it to link the city i.e St. Stephens Basilica with the Buda Castle complex, via the funicular or one of the many shuttle buses to get you up the hill.

Just an easy walk across the Danube on this amazing bridge. You will get the best views of the Danube from Pest to Buda to the Island and south.
