Shining under the Aegean sun, this tranquil spot in the Cyclades has little if any in common with its neighbor Santorini. There are no buildings taller than two stories, no boutiques or fancy restaurants, not even a cruise ship pulling into port. The remote island of Folegandros makes a fabulous, quiet escape, with its capital town of Chora partially built right into it boasting whitewashed houses with multi-colored doors as timeless creations of traditional Cycladic architecture.

Only after our travel agent confirmed our booking for this place I noticed some poor reviews so I was a little anxious about what to expect. I need not have had any concerns. A very friendly man picked us up from the port and when we arrived we were taken almost immediately to our room. It was very clean and comfortable with balcony overlooking the pool and out to the mountains. Service was great and everyone we dealt with was friendly and efficient. Bathroom needs an update but it was spacious and clean. Breakfast was great and at standard of all Greek island resorts. Fresh and tinned fruit. Pastries, eggs, bacon, toast, coffee, tea, fresh juice and probably more. Folegandros is a terrific island, Chora is a lovely village and chora resort hotel was great. We loved our time there.

We chose Folegandros to spent few days with my sister. We did a bit of searching in and came across few offers that this hotel was advertising, but they were so confusing that i decided to call directly to the hotel and make sure i know exactly what i am going to book. After talking to the reservation manager i ended up booking a superior room with two twins. Upon arrival the situation wasn't what i was expecting. The room they gave us was the small second room of a suite that had two rooms, with one double built bed and with the intermediate door locked, and they tried to convince us that this is a superior room. Furthermore, when i asked to have a superior with two twins they showed me an inferior room facing the mountain for the same ammount! This is definitely a non professional behaviour for a five star hotel and would never recommend a hotel that overcharges for less quality. I hope with this comment will be some improvement in the managment of the hotel because such behaviours create a bad impression for tourism in our country.

We decided to spend a long weekend in Folegandros and we chose the Chora Resort for our stay there. It was the only hotel ever that they called the exact moment after the booking to ask for my card number in order to charge me with the 35% of the whole amount. This has Never ever happened to me before. Anyway, they came to pick us up at the port, a really welcoming service. We arrived and during the check in process, they asked us to pay in advance the whole stay. Completely unacceptable. When, we asked the reason, they took it back and they said that our booking is special, so we can pay at the end. At the room, everything is what Greece touristic industry has to leave behind. Terrible aesthetics of another decade, bad bathroom, no shower, terrible bathroom products. Even we have asked a double bed, they put us in a room with two small beds. in our request for a change, they just told us that they are full so nothing available. The next morning we realised that breakfast was bad, poor and really to the basics. At the same time, it is the first time a hotel wifi has censorship not allowing you to visit sites the ownership things that are bad, or not safe, or porn-related or any other stuff. Overall, Chora is NOT a resort, for sure is NOT 5 stars and for sure it is way too overpriced. Stay away

This hotel is very nice! I will start with the friendly and always helpful stuff! They provide info for the island, arrange boat tours, transportation to/from port and always with a smile (important if you are in relaxing holidays mood). The rooms are clean and the cleaning ladies are taking care of laundry if you ask (extra charge). The pool is really nice and is ideal to enjoy a cocktail there, before going out to Chora 😊Well done people and thank you for this experience!!!

Not a five star resort for sure! Initially, an overall pleasant place to be, but it could have been a lot better for its price! To be mentioned , the excellent cleaning service. However, the staff was quite rude and non respectfull, including a guy that made a rude gesture towards my girlfriend. The receptionist seemed always moody like she had something personal with us. Moreover, when we asked her about the boats to the beaches she only promoted on purpose a specific boat tour in which we were not interested. She insisted talking about it for 3 days. On top of all these, the unacceptably poor breakfast and the misunderstandings among the staff when it comes to our delivery to the port.

We stayed for couple of nights during July 15, the rooms are very nice with super decoration, BUT most of the facilities like spa, gym etc were not available, also the restaurant and brakefast are not at their strong points. For sure is not a 5 star Hotel although looks very nice. Last but not least, has no view at all, in a such beautiful island.

We stayed at Chora resort this summer and we enjoyed our stay . The pool was beautiful , the rooms were very clean and it was in a convenient location in Chora next to all the action but still quiet . They also offer car rentals in good prices . The breakfast was not that great but what bothered us the most was that the stuff are staring at you while you are getting food and eating , it felt quite awkward. Also keep in Mind not to stay at this hotel if they have a wedding , they told us it would end at 2 but the very loud music stopped after 4:30 am. They completely ignored our calls (they just didn't pick up) and there was no discount for the night we payed but didn't sleep , they didn't act really professional . However the one off situation like the wedding put aside it is a great value for the money .

I don't know exactly why I loved the tiny island of Folégandros, but I am sure that this splendid hotel was had something to do. The total cost for one night in a double room was 55€ (breakfast included), but what this hotel has to offer is more than worth it. I would have paid far more than 55€ for this magnificent place. A unique pool, a perfect location, a free shuttle bus to the port, a very good WI-FI, a welcoming staff,... I cannot say anything wrong about this hotel. I strongly recommend it and, take it for granted, I will come back!

When we arrived at the port the driver of the hotel picked us up and he was very polite and professional. The lady who managed hotel bookings was the rudest person. The day of our departure she was standing in front of us and she didn't even say "Goodbye" or "Thank you for your stay"!! Unexceptable behaviour I mean it's free!! The breakfast was very poor for a 5* and the employees had a fight in front of the customers..The coffee was terrible, even Greek coffee which is the simplest. They didn't have facilities for a 5* hotel. One morning after breakfast a customer asked for extra ice for his coffee it was around 10.30 and the waitress told him that they don't have because the bar opens at 11! With 37 degrees, summer in an island. Anyway if you have big expectations I don't recommend it. Just for a sleep it's alright with the pool and close to Choral of Folegandros.

This place is a gem. Well run, immaculately clean, friendly, well located, very reasonably priced and a real pleasure to stay. I wish them well. Places like this are few and far between. Go there before it is spoilt. I will go back in an instant.

The Chora resort is nothing short of amazingly beautiful as is all of Folegandros. The reception staff, Peggy and Spyros are super friendly and very helpful. At the bar and in the restaurant, Konstantina is the friendliest and most helpful. She is a large part of why this hotel is so friendly. Please say hello for me to Konstantina when you stay here. The pool is the most beautiful on the entire island. Everything is clean and well maintained. The one suggestion I would make is to improve the quality and variety of the breakfast buffet. I strongly recommend the Chora Resort on Folegandros

We did not book this hotel but we stayed here because management told us their sister hotel Aspalathras where we actually booked is not open due to electricity and pool problems (which was probably not true ). They transferred us from a 4 star to this 5 star. So in the beginning we were OK with it. But after a better look at the rooms and the hotel , this is not a 5 star, even 4 star could be a question. Breakfast was not 5 star, even a lot less choice and quality than our breakfasts in 4 star hotels in Naxos and Mykonos. The bathrooms are outdated and not present 4 or 5 star standards. The sunbeds are old, not enough umbrellas for all sunbeds. You are staying in the village with no specials views of this special island . I advise to book another hotel when visiting Folegandros.

We stayed here from the 4th -7th June, so not quite main holiday season, Infact we were the only guests. The hotel is only a couple of minutes walk into the centre of Chora and approximately 2 miles from the port of Karavostasis. Our accommodation was beautiful. Outside there was a seating area with two very nice chairs and a table overlooking the fabulous swimming pool. Above the accommodation we had our own roof terrace, again with chairs and table. Inside the bedroom was clean and spacious. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Each day the sheets and towels were changed. A small fridge was provided with complimentary bottled water. The television reception was poor as the picture jumped on all channels. WiFi was poor inside the room and only slightly better outside. As we were the only guests breakfast was served to us. There was no menu we just had to say what we wanted and it was made for us. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Free transport was provided to and from the port. The hotel charged 25Euros per day for their own car hire.

Had a fantastic stay. We were upgraded on arrival at no extra charge, following pick up from the port at no charge. We had an amazing villa type room with its own roof top balcony with wonderful views. The pool area was very clean and relaxing. The breakfast was great with a good choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Hotel is nearby to main village which is very quaint and has tons of character. Would most definitely stay as an off the beaten track Greek island resort.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and found it extremely over priced for the service and room received. We had no privacy and the room was very very small. The staff were sometimes rude and somewhat uninterested in helping or serving. The friendliest person was the man who drove us from the port to the hotel and back. It certainly did not feel like I got value for money in this hotel and would not recommend it. The booking details confirmed a room with a spa and a sauna. Of course, as confirmed by reception, there are no rooms with saunas or spas, very deceptive and deceiving in the wording of this hotel. I did not appreciate this. The only plus for the hotel was the pool. It is large and inviting. I would not return.

Last minute booking and mistakingly entered the wrong date, called the hotel and given the dates were in early august they obligingly moved my booking to a later date. Rooms was albeit small, but very comfortable. Breakfast was served till late and nothing was too much trouble. Staff were courteous and pleasant, anything we asked for was done with batting an eye lid. Hotel is centrally located shuttles to the beaches are 2 minutes away. Nice pool and spa, properly furnished and lots of shade areas. I would recommend this hotel, but please do not come on your high horses, this is Folegandros and a place where you can relax and take it easy! If you want to have Palacial services nor is the island ready for it nor is it designed for this. it's a great place to relax and let the days roll by in the Meltemi winds and under the beautiful Cycladic sunshine. Returning for sure next year!

This is a nice hotel but expensive for the service that offers (compare to other 4* hotels I have stayed). We stayed in the premium room which was nice and overlooking the pool. The bathroom needs refurbish and basing toiletries were provided. The breakfast was very poor, the coffee was horrible, and more choices should be available for a 4* hotel. The staff were not friendly apart from the barman who serves nice coctails. The customer service is very poor and the room was not properly clean on a daily basis. The hotel is located in an nice area, quite, few minutes walk from the centre. The swimming pool area is nice and tidy. The wi-fi was bad.

After my return from Aldemar Olympian village I decide to visit the small Cycladic island of Folegandros.I made a reservation to Mar Inn hotel because of the excellent reviews I read, but unfortunately I choose the wrong room so I decided to cancel paying a penalty of two days. After that, I made a last minute booking to Chora Resort.I depart from PIraeus with Seajet2 boat and after 4 hours(the schedule was for 3 1/2 hours, and the ticket round trip cost 119 euros),I arrived at the port of Karavostasi. If you like to stay close to the beach, maybe this place is perfect because Chora the capital is up to the mountain.Up to the hill when you get out from the boat located Vardia bay studios brotherhood hotel of Chora Resort. The driver with the mini van waiting me and after a few minutes distance(only 3 KM),we arrived.First of all Chora Resort is not a Resort and of course not a 5 star than was writing at the website at the past.Yes its a 4 star and only because of the facilities. But its the bigger hotel of the island I suppose with 25 rooms I think. The owner has also Vardian bay studios and Aspalathras hotel which located about 200 meters from Chora Resort.Don't wait sea view rooms, just pool and village view.I have a warm welcome from the lady of the reception, I complete the form and I drink a coffee to the pool bar,I payed it, until my room get ready. After half an hour I managed to go to my room number 216.I suppose it was a superior room with pool view just a few meters from the pool.In front of the room there was a balcony with wooden furniture. The room has two levels. The first has a sofa bed which you may use it as a sitting area, and also a desk..After two steps you get in the main bedroom.A large comfortable iron bed waiting there.Except the bed all the other furniture was wooden. From the main bedroom to go to the bathroom you must step off two steps. There waited me a bad surprise.Small but clean and don't wait of course spa bath.Only a small bathtub without curtains or something else to prevent the water to get out.Because of the small space it could be better to be a cabin shower.Other facilities of the room(superior)was air condition, safe box, small fridge and of course a led tv.The wifi was free of charge but inside the room the signal was low. The pool terrace was amazing with new comfortable wooden sun loungers and not crowded as long as I stayed there. But unfortunately the cleaning of the pool was down the average.Three days and no one clean it, no one check out the Ph of the water. The last day the water was full of dead flying insects. The pool bar was nice with good prices, not a great variety of drinks just the common, and I suppose the employees are not professionals, only a part time job for summer! But all are polite expect one,a Bulgarian one I think, one of the drivers who believes that his job is not to leave the customers to complain. The person who makes the difference maybe is the chef of the hotel who made hard efforts to satisfy the customers.Everyday every hour with a big smile try to feel you like home. The breakfast was down the average for Cycladic island.Just eggs, sausages, bacon, butter, jams and fresh juices. The hotel located a few meters from the center of Chora were you can find a big variety of entertainment as restaurants, taverns with local food and grilled meat, and small bars. But don't wait nightlife after 2 o'clock midnight. If you want to discover the island the best way is to take the local bus.The bus station located about 200 meters from the hotel at the Town Hall. The ticket cost 2 euro for the village of Agkali were you can swim at the bay.Or else you take the bus for Karavostasi, cost 1,60,.From there you can embark at small boats and visit the small beaches of the island and swim .The last day of my departure a bad surprise was expected me.At noon I give the key of my room to the receptionist and I told her that I leave with the boat of the afternoon.Until the time of my depart I make a short walk to the town of Chora when the called me from the reception and they said me that I forgot to pay the bill of the pool bar which was 40 euros.I told them that they made wrong because everything I bought was by cash. When I return the receptionist insist that she was wright and I must pay the bill.So we call the manager who came after 10 minutes. As long as we waiting the manager I shouted that allows such mistakes and everything happens because of the bad administration, when the Bulgarian told me not to speak loud maybe because he didn't want the rest of the customers to hear about the problems of the hotel. The manager came and he discover that up to the cash receipt was written the number of the room,216,and a different signature from mine.We discover after 15 minutes that the charged made from the customers which are at room 216 before me.They try to apologize for the misunderstanding but I don't believe them!
