Love this place as a music venue, both their main room and The Cluny 2 are great for gigs. There are a few vegan options but nothing special. What I did have, was very nice though, if a bit pricey! There was a mix up with our order, but that wasn't a big deal really. Still, handy to grab some food if you're going there for a gig!

Found this gem after visiting the Victoria Tunnel. Great place with great food. You also get a discount for visiting tunnel. This place has a great atmosphere as well as great food. Will return when in area next

the burger tasted like shoe leather, was as far from "juicy" as an embalmed corpse....and is quadruple the price of a cheap burger joint. and just as rubbish. dont waste your money on outdated garnishes.

We only went to book a gig but after seeing people eat we thought we would partake... great choice. We both had a burger, 1 lamb and 1 beef, absolutely lovely fresh ingredients nicely presented and they tasted really nice... wanted to have a pudding but no room left for it as the burger came with fries (sweet potato ones are £1 extra) We would definately go back! Great staff and a fab live music venue aswell!

The salad was delicious. The venue is great. The staff were delicious also! A pint of Diet Coke £3 which like most pubs is an absolute rip off given they all should be encouraging responsibility regarding drink driving. Given that pints of beer are fractionally more expensive, it just pisses you off as it's pure greed regarding the soft drink prices. The food was £8.95. Average ish for Newcastle pub menus. No complaints at all about that. Assuming freshly made as it took 20 mins for it to be delivered. Again, No issues with that and the staff were attentive enough to not be over bearing. Menus printed out on plain A4 paper. Could be a style choice as it's a trendy venue but just gives off a cheap vibe that contradicts the rest of the place. Shame but no deal breaker. Overall recommends, Been here twice in two weeks for late lunch. Again, as with most venues a rip off for soft drinks. I will continue to come back but maybe lay off the Diet Coke and stick to Guinness 😁 Buck the trend and have responsible soft drink prices and make an effort with the menus to get maximum marks. Oh and buy proper coke 😉

If you want a small, intimate venue to enjoy a gig, this is the place. It has a great atmosphere and you're close to the stage no matter where you stand! The bar does offers some decent drinks and good pizzas too so you can really make a night of it!

I live close by and have frequented The Cluny over the years. The live music is legendary and nothing has changed there. Since the change in ownership, it has improved in every way. It seems to be an active and ongoing effort of improvement as each visit it seems to be a little bit better than the last... they have Guinness again! The food..... massive improvement. They have obviously made a huge change in the kitchen. If you have never been, go. If you have been before, go again, it's better. ( it wasn't bad before! It's just better now.)

We attended here for a quick drink but found there was a gig on. I felt a bit sorry for the people eating as it was full of people in and out with plastic glasses waiting for the band. I wouldn’t visit here again unless it was to go to one of the gigs and I wouldn’t eat here either. Staff at the bar were friendly and they had a good selection of bar snacks and sweets.

Waited forever for food, over an hour, pub was not that busy, when it did arrive it did so sporadically some is us had to wait even longer. Food itself was a mixed bag, some ok some pretty mediocre. We did complain, got an apology and one member of our party got a small amount of cash back. Will never eat there again, pity as Sunday roast lunches used to be brilliant. Kids remembered them from when they were younger and bemoaned the new regime of burgers and sandwiches. Good beer and great gig venue.

Always love a visit to the Cluny, nice bar meals, excellent selection of beers and one of my favourite music venues.

Poor choice of lager/cider on the evening we visited. Very cramped and very hot (thank goodness it wasn't summer) Wouldn't rush back

First impressions were great locations, scruffy but fun and with a glint of great venue appeal... However, after sitting in a sticky chair, being served up cold (most likely pre-prepared) food and having to ask for new glasses twice, the idea of a good night went out the window... The bands on were poor, even though I'd heard they were usually a mixed bag, but this review isn't reflective of the bands, just the experience of the place was not what it should be. You expect pretty grim toilets at a gig venue, but not this bad... The group of us (6) were surprised. The only positives were the staff and the beer selections, although pricey for venue of this kind. Overall I wouldn't recommend it, but my comparisons are drawn with London and Newcastle places, so maybe unfair as I've not been to others in Newcastle, yet...

We've got tickets for another gig early Feb but it will be the first time in over 12 years that my wife and I wont be having another pre-gig meal here. This used to be honest, real, tasty home cooking. Its now tasteless pre-prepared frozen, deep fried & served up on tiny plates. Prices have gone up too. Big shame.

Came here with a large group of friends first visit for all , what a awful scruffy place it could be a such a lovely venue . Dark and depressing smelly toilets, no bar in the room had to go up flights of stairs to get your drinks and the prices were absolutely crazy . Definitely wouldn't go back . A shame really as the band was good.

Been to The Cluny many times but todays visit was the first in a while, it will be a while before we go back. A fantastic setting, good beers, friendly staff however the place needs a deep clean, overwhelming smell of pee from the toilets, fruit flies abound in the seating area and the food was very disappointing, pizza took way to long to come's not like the place was busy, all in all a disappointing experience !

Looks like a great venue for live music sadly no one playing whilst we were in the area. Young woman behind the bar was really helpful.

Been to Cluny a number of times to eat/drink. In the past, the food has been great (including great chips, one of my favourite things, a good chip!). As usual, beer and cider were great. Disappointed with our food though, sorry Cluny 😞. Moroccan veg tagine - not nearly enough veggies and hot but lacking flavour. Would have benefitted greatly from a blob of natural yoghurt on top. Steak ciabatta with chips - steak ok, but chips poor, poor, poor. Re-heated from last night, and a meagre, mean portion. aaaaarggghhh! Love the Cluny ❤ so disappointed 😞
