We went there to have a dinner, the food was really good. We had the pleasure of being served by an Italian waitress she’s blonde, very professional and looks after you really good.

Going for a group meal of 5. We arrive no greeting no staff at the counter for a few minutes so I went out to have a smoke. We was finally seated. Ordering drinks... asked the waiter what drinks do they have on tap. He only named Amstel and another, s sure I walked into a pub... Waiter couldn't be bothered to read out the list he has on his 'Ipad' not did he seem interested in wanting to sell any products. Then comes to ordering the food. The waiter informed us that there was only 2 pieces of the 28 aged steak left and explained it as if that was the only thing left on the menu. To which it drew frustration from us all as we called an hour prior (as we made reservations at around 4pm for around 8PM) to check if everything was fine. I requested to speak to the manager cause I was appalled that they only had 2 things left on the menu etc - the manager came and explained that there was other stuff on the menu and that there must of been a miscommunication. That all got resolved but never received an apology as the managers tone wasn't the most friendly and neither was the information from the waiter. Now back to the drinks we ordered a bottle of wine. They brought a bottle of wine and just poured it straight into our glasses. Not even showing us if it is the wine we ordered or anything, just instantly opened the glass and poured the wine. A few of us took a sip and realised that the wine was incorrect and then we told the waiter. The one who served us we told him it was the wrong wine. He smirked then rolled his eyes when we picked up on his mistake. They then came to collect the glasses which have already been sipped from to pour back into the bottle (from what I can assume) as the manager said that night 'Its common practise for pubs to do this *he was talking about not telling customers that things are off the menu - not able to apologise for stressing your customers - and I can only assume the poured the wine back into the bottle. (the wine that we already sipped from) Food was medioca steaks was all over done. (wasn't given an option of how i would like it cost 18) 5/10 Cabbage seemed extremely salty. 2/10 the beef rib was cooked to perfection though. that gets a 10/10 Yorkshire puddings.... cooked for too long. 4/10 I Ordered the Beer braised ox tail - it came really early. I arrived back after smoking and it was the only thing on the table. it was cold. (and we requested for the food to all come out at the same time.) - later after our mains came out... they came and brought a second beer braised oxtail... this one was HOT but I already had one and we only ordered one. (they got their order wrong again + I wish I had a hot beer braised oxtail it was tasty) Over all it was an unpleasant experience. - it could be because it was a Sunday evening. In all honesty they deserved 0% service. Only because I have worked in hospitality before that I couldn't take it away as I do understand it is portion of their wage I couldn't take it away. Unlikely to return - a rather shame considering I am very local. - Many better places around H&I and Angel to eat at the same or even cheaper price (for 5 our total bill came to around 250)

This beautiful old pub with beautiful courtyard (often used for weddings etc) is very warm and inviting. Their menu features some pub favorites, but also some fine cuisine options. I enjoyed a perfectly poured pint of Guinness pre dinner and an excellent Chilean merlot with dinner. I recommend this pub on a quiet residential street in Islington.

I stopped going to the Albion years ago due to the poor choice of beers, but although there are still only two draught bitters they are a great improvement, including Doom Bar (an amber variant I'd not seen before). Menu is reasonable, but rather limited and tired in that the dishes and even specials don't appear to have changed in the past 4-5 years, some more variety would be welcome and would see me return more often.

A dozen of us tried to take on the Suckling Pig. We failed. It was simply delicious and came with the best roasties I have ever had. Love this place and would recommend the little piggy to anyone Great pub with great staff and clientele

So I am not moved to write reviews unless the experience is something that I feel others would benefit from. I have seen recent reviews and don't think I could have been at the same pub. Our experience in terms of service and attentiveness were off the scale. We arrived albeit it was not busy for lunch (my sister and brother in law were over from OZ and have a knack of picking great places to meet). What can I say. We arrived at 11.30am and 3 hours later after good food and excellent service we were left wondering where the time ad gone. My sister had the mackerel which was superb (her words) my brother in law the monkfish tail - also great and my wife had the fishcake - so good she wasn't sharing it!. I had the pie of the day which was really tasty. What we all agreed we liked about the place more than anything was the excellent service (yes it was) that Diana gave to s nd our little girl of 2 - the pub is so child friendly and so accommodating. We have not been here in an evening but for lunch, it was a great choice and when we left leaving a bag behind Diana was very prompt in calling the number we left when we reserved the table to ensure we got it back especially as it contained essential medication. Well done the Albion - you may not be perfect but on our visit we could not have asked for anything better. The only negative is the beer which was on the high side but quality costs!

We went for dinner there, The service was terrible, no cutlery when our starters arrived, not even a serviette, the waiter said he would get some cutlery, I said that would be helpful !!!, The toilets were is a terrible mess, empty toilet rolls all over the floor and no fresh toilet paper, food very standard.

The food really is delicious but the fact we booked a table in the garden and explained we were a pregnant person and two buggies and that could we get a table in the shade. We were told that the table we were in would go into the shade. Obviously on a first time visit who were we to argue. Then we realised it was a huge sun spot and a complete lie. So my 6 month old baby was ratty and our pregnant friend uncomfortable throughout lunch. The drinks took 30 mins and brought out wrong twice? So all in all pretty shocking which we fed back to the waiter whilst paying our bill (which was wrong and had to be sent back) and he just laughed. All in all pretty terrible, who is running the floor?

We could not eat outside as it was too late (after 9pm), but the beer garden was beautiful and we cold not help staying for a drink. Nice selection of wines, a bit less of beers, but pricey but worthy for the beauty of the place.

The pub looks great, a beautiful building with a great outside seating area in the front. However, that's where the positivity ends. The bar staff really aren't invested in providing a decent service, they look completely disinterested and bored. 4 people behind the bar, but 3 of those polishing glasses with scowls on their faces and 1 serving (when he wasn't texting on his phone). Expect a long wait. Our beers went back twice. First time our lager shandys were made with soda water instead of lemonade, the second time they went back because the beer was flat. The barman poured another pint and plonked it down. Flat. We had to explain that the beer was no good and there was obviously a problem with the barrel. Anyway, I'm boring myself with this review - I guess it's just frustrating when you come out with friends on a lovely evening and end up on the wrong end of a lacklustre, tired service. Shame. Sorry guys but something has to change - and a smile and a bit of effort would be a good place to start.

Nine of us met for lunch about noon. Location was beautiful and the weather kind. Service was exemplary, young waitress very well trained and had just the right touch with leaving us to our own devices or gently husting us to get a move on with our orders. I guess service was a bit leisurely, but we were in a leisurely mood, so it all worked brilliantly. Food was excellent and imaginative gastropub fare. My six oysters were plump, fresh, slightly gritting and tasted of sea water. Excellent. My main of fish with mango salad pretty much perfect. Desert of Mango and white chocolate cheesecake, again excellent, i could have eaten two. I can't recall any of our number disappointed with their food, everybody seemed very happy with what they had ordered and quality and presentation of the grub they were served. We got into a bit of a session: all of us were still there at 3:30 and the stragglers finally left about 5:30. Nobody cared and the service continued to be discrete and attentive for the whole five hours!! Final bill came to about £45 a head, including three bottles of wine, desert wine and several gallons of Guiness.... Happy Days....

I visited with my partner and friend, luckily we timed it well and managed to gain a table outside the front immedietly just as someone was leaving. The place was very busy so understandable as to why the service was slow. However we repeatedly had to go inside to ask if someone could serve us outside. When we tried to just place an order inside after waiting a while we were told we could only order outside at our table and that somebody would be with us shortly. Anyway the food was good, we had a Sunday roast each, although bizzarely the Yorkshire puddings are an extra 50p each - I don't think I've ever had to pay for a Yorkshire pudding as an extra before! My friend asked to order some more food but the waitress never came back, we'd finished eating so we didn't bother chasing up on this. I wouldn't particularly recommend or discourage people from visiting here, service probably more attentive Mon-Sat, the roast is a roast - nothing better or worse than most gastro pubs in the Islington/Highgate/Stoke Newington area.

We had a lovely dinner here last night. The gazpacho was very good as was the charcuterie platter (though not inexpensive). My Mackerel was great! The sticky toffee pudding with Ice cream was nice but the pudding was just a dense sponge - no nuts or dates! Not sticky toffee. The overall bill was high

Finally made it to the Albion and I have nothing to say about the food or the pub itself. However, they're failing in the most basics of all, service. Maybe we were unlucky, but it's been a while since the last time I've been treated with such rudeness. Unfortunately, our experience got ruined by the attitude of the members of staff, which surprisingly were all in tune except for one guy that was helpful and happy. What about the food? Top notch Fish & Chips, great burger and tasty sharing platter. The highlight of this pub is the outdoor space; it is one of the best outdoor/beer gardens I've been to so far. I will give it another try but fingers crossed the staff will be in a happy mood.

We had a large lunch here last weekend. Beautiful garden, lovely roast, nice chilled atmosphere and very accommodating staff for our group. Steven our waiter was brilliant, very attentive, made sure the dietary specific meals found the right people, divided the bill at the end and was just such a lovely guy. Made all the difference. We'll be back.

Had a beautiful lunch here at the Albion, the food was rich and cooked perfectly and the portion sizes were very good. The sticky toffee pudding was absolutely fantastic! The garden is beautiful and we spent hours chatting, eating and drinking in this lovely pub- very good!

I live locally and having recently moved to area delighted with this place. Service and menu choice is excellent not your typical pub food. Its gastro yet generous portions and a varied menu. Have never been disappointed. Always advisable to book. Used their websie booked online. Sometimes impossible to get in at weekend. Lovely decor inside Georgian architecture , has a very large back garden. Sometimes during Summer bar facilities open in back area. The area which is a 5 mins walk to Islington high street, reminds me of Richmond in Surrey , its in a lovely enclave garden square nearby for public use. Beautiful area for walking.

I have been to The Albion a number of times before and this time (celebrating the big 40) topped them all. Unlike most places catering for 19 of us, we were able to order off normal a la carte menu. I was able to book a table outside (rare for pubs) and they would have moved us in if weather was bad. The garden is a hidden gem! The manager and waiter couldn't have been better, really friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Food was really good too. When garden closed they had reserved an area inside for us to continue drinking. The perfect place to celebrate.

I had another session in the Albion last night with 6 friends. Dinner followed by 5 hours of solid drinking. Food was great and sat out in the garden. When it got colder we were taken to a table inside they had kept for us. Table service all night and the waitress that looked after us could not have been nicer. Love this place
