Originally a scant, cozy, authentic tapas bar in Soho, Barrafina has expanded to include two more locations, both in Covent Garden.

no booking and always a large queue make this a hard spot to get a seat at but if you can get one, try the sardines a la plancha

We went twice to this crowded restaurant and we enjoyed our diner. As they don't accept reservations you must be there waiting at the queue before the opening. The second time we went, the tapas weren't tiny but larger portions, not as a regular portion but larger than the classic tapas. So, be prepared to not order a lot of things. The food is always delicious and the service even better! Expensive for our budget but very good. I recommend it.

Barrafina was recommended by a friend and it was fabulous. Specials of the day were a lovely surprise. Lots of small dishes to share. Super fresh and high quality produce. Service was efficient, warm and friendly. Wines by the glass are great too. Highlights: the choirizo, fried cod cheeks, fennel and radish salad (best ever!) and the tart santiago (almond tart)!! They don't take bookings so get here early or late. Peak times expect to queue for a spot at the bar. I will be recommending and returning again and again.

Really enjoyed my first experience of Barrafina. We arrived at 9pm and although it was busy we were still able to order food and drink whilst standing. This obviously meant you can eat & drink whilst waiting for a table which we thoroughly enjoyed. All of the food was good and would recommend any of the dishes. White Wine: Pazo de Mariñan 2016 - really light and fruity. Highly recommend.

We avoided the que by being at the door when it opened. The timing was perfect for aperitifs and good tapas. We were ready to try the new tapas creations beside the common ones. The tapas were indeed creative and fanciful. After the serving of the milk fed lamb, I realised that it must be a newborn. It was too tender and too plain for my liking. Then there was the fanciful courgette flower with goat cheese. If you want to experience new stuff then this would be the right place for the adventure. Service was excellent.

Nice evening g out... great food and service.... just the no reservations... but what can you do.... the food and environment certainly make up for having to wait a little... would recommend going quiet early on a sunday to minimise waiting time.... once your in it's all good just like in a good night club ;)

This place serves the best Tapas I have ever eaten, including Spain. The octopus was sublime. Chargrilled baby artichokes fabulous. We were 2 hungry adults and a ravens teenager and we were wonderfully sated. Thank you to the chef :))))))

Barrafina was my restaurant in town. However the move to Dean Street and the loss of Nieves is obvious. The head chef was a disaster- stressed, no personality and frankly not a great chef. Our steak was over cooked and after the third effort it was acceptable but the chef neither accepted his failings or our gratitude for getting it right! He has no personality and his anger with the team was obvious and unprofessional. Nieves will be missed and from my experience not replaced. I want Barrafina to succeed, please replace the incompetent chef and don't charge guests when you get it wrong....

Would I wait again for another 90 minutes? Possibly no. But I would, for 45 minutes. You just have to manage your time. The food is as good as it gets. Out of a dozen dishes we had, only one or two were average. The rest all just impossibly good. Fully recommended.

A great fun place to eat especially sitting at the counter watching the food being prepared and talking to the cheerful helpful staff. Order a few and then some more and then some more!! Great food produced as you watch.

Excellent food. Fantastic atmosphere. Simply one of my favourite restaurants in the entire world. If I could afford to eat here once a week I would!

Had a long wait while we queued outside, then had to que inside too. Some of the dishes were really good, but others were not to my liking. Dont think I will be making a return visit.

Service was friendly but a little all over the place; our drinks came after our third dish. The octopus looked great but was a let down. Other dishes were also average. The best dish we had was the stuffed courgette flower (which was delicious). Overall I wouldn't recommend this restaurant or ever return.

Stopped by at about 10.30pm after a show. Shown to a table within minutes of arriving by a lovely waiter. Had a fantastic tapas style meal consisting of octopus and capers, mussels, deep fried baby calamari and quail. Quail was out of this world. Waiter helped with choosing a nice white wine. Very easy drinking. Had a creme brulé type dessert to close off the meal. Service with a smile, fast and efficient. Best meal of the holiday by far. 10/10.

This is a new brighter and swankier version of the original that used to be further down the street. However everything was just as good except for the roasted chillies which were a little soggy. The best tapas in London.

Some of the food we ordered was great, in particular the croquetas and the wine but overall it is not worth the long wait or the high prices. The patatas bravas were really bland and the octopus, if properly a la española, should have come with some potatoes - too much on its own. OK for a one time visit but there are better tapas restaurants in London.

Arrived there around 8, the queue was super long and we were told we were gonna have to wait for about an hour, and we were not disappointed. It's already possible to order food and wine while waiting, which makes it feel much shorter. Once we were seated, we could finally order tapas that we had been eyeing for a while and they were all simply delicious. The service was amazing as well, really nice and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
