We live just around the corner, so thought we'd better try the local cafe out for a pre-travel breakfast. Oh dear... Oh very dear... BIG MISTAKE The 'Full English' is advertised as coming with a hot drink, for 5.95. I ordered mine with a decaf coffee. The 'meal' (and I use this term advisedly) was delivered on a freezing cold plate, so they were pretty much cold by the time they arrived. I was hungry, so I let it pass and tucked in. It wasn't very good, but filled the gap. Time to pay, and a bill for 15.20. Apparently there was a 3 pound surcharge for a rubbish decaf coffee. 3 quid! Seriously! So, Portland cafe, I wish you good luck for the future. Keep alienating the local community. Keep taking the payments in cash and avoiding those difficult accounting issues. Keep doing what you do, and keep doing so, so very poorly.

Went he with a couple of local friends and it is a nice friendly cafe with a nice selection of English breakfast options and reasnable service and cheap food. Nice place to go for a quick breakfast before work, but not worth a special trip.

Don't order your mealfix from here. Did not get what I ordered which was the RoastChicken thigh with rice. It seemed like they didn't even know they were on an orderandcollect service. They blamed the mealfix service and kept asking me antagonistically how much I paid for it. Shouldn't you know how much you get from this instead of interrogating the customer? They grudgingly offered another meal option and were very confrontational.

Considering i can buy as much pasta as I got in a large dish from Sainsburys for a couple of quid i feel i was already being ripped off from this place. £5.95. Didn't expect to find a hair in it either which put me off from eating the rest off it only after a couple of mouthfuls. Don't expect any more than terrible if i find a hair in the food.

Great value breakfast with lots of choice - daughter loved her sausage sandwich while my full breakfast filled the gap after a few drinks last night :)

We had breakfast here with friends, and their full breakfast was good value. They even have a vegetarian option that swaps out the pork banger for a veg sausage and hashbrown. The food was excellent, the service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was nice in the back room. The decor is simple and sparse, but everything is neat and clean.

My husband and I were making a flying visit to London. We stayed in the nearby YHA and opted for our breakfast here. I had porridge, a latte and a croissant. My husband had a full English. The staff were very friendly and accommodating the food was great and good value for London too. Thank you.

Breakfast is very tasty and they have a great variety of things to choose from and portions are big. I tried their Full English breakfast, Halloumi cheese toast as well as their chicken sandwich and they were all so tasty and good! Loads of space to sit inside or outside if weather allows, reasonable prices, and staff are so nice and friendly! Would highly recommend and definitely will be back here if I am around this area!

This is a lovely little cafe with fast friendly service and great food at a very reasonable price. My husband and I chose to have breakfast here rather than our hotel near by as it was much better value.

Over the past five years, I have visited London for meetings, that occur four or five times a year. If time allows, I drop in here about 10am for breakfast, before my meetings which are nearby. I always have a have a full English breakfast, which is well-enough cooked, although sometimes it would be better if the plate had been warmed. The café is frequented mostly by what appear to be locals, including workmen. The staff are very friendly and remember me, even though I am an infrequent customer.

We found this place in TripAdvisor. A little gem of a place. Don't expect frills, but for a good, tasty breakfast at reasonable prices, look no further. Friendly service from the staff. Good coffee. Solid portions. Perfect

My husband and I popped into the Portland Cafe after seeing a cooked vegetarian breakfast advertised on their menu board outside. We were warmly greeted by the staff and made to feel welcome, disabled access was alright and I didn't have a problem getting in on my crutches. There was seating available inside and space to stow the wheelchair. The veggie breakfast itself was really good, lots of it and a whole stack of toast, it was really yummy and good value, around £6 for one breakfast including tea. Quick service, too. I also noticed they did a whole varied selection of very tasty looking sandwiches and filled rolls for lunch, plenty of choice and veggie options. We will definitely be back for breakfast again soon!

UNusually I was walking at the North end of Great Portland Street when I saw this place across the road and knew it was going to be great even before I walked through the door. There is a large choice of ciabatta - I had chicken escalope with a poached egg on top and my friend had a tuna sandwich. Both were excellent as was the coffee. They also appeared to have lots of other dishes as well as salads to take away. Everything looked freshly prepared. Two sandwiches and two coffee came to about £13 - not bad at all.
