For the second time I have received a luke-warm roast which ends up being cold before you can finish. Firstly having the belly pork (which itself was very nice) but everything else was only warm. On the second occasion I had lamb which was more like pulled lamb, not slices and again everything was only warm. No extra gravy and no staff checking on the table to ask for gravy or to mention the temperature. What could be a perfectly good roast, let down by the temperature.

Went to drop some furniture at My son's new accommodation in Bristol. We decided to go grab some lunch before we headed back to Hereford. Arrived at The Royal Oak and received a very warm welcome from a lovely girl behind the bar who asked if she could help. We required a table for 3 and although they were very busy it wasn't a problem. We ordered a drink and our table was ready. We all ordered the beef roast which took about 20 minutes to arrive. Beautiful beef, gorgeous Yorkshire pudding and fresh seasonal vegetables, wasn't keen on the roast potatoes as they were a bit dry and soft for me. Overall a lovely experience, all staff extremely welcoming, ambience friendly and well presented Yummy food. Will definitely visit again when we go to visit my son.

For £14.50 this was a poor roast. The leg if lamb was essentially pulled lamb mixed with gravy 🙈 oh dear! Are roasts now America...? We unanimously agree the roast spuds were the worst we had. They were really dry and hard on the inside and pale and hardly roast on the outside. Aunt Bessie's are better. Veg was lovely. Gravy really good. But as we know... that isn't he important part of the roast.....

This was a great place to spend a relaxed evening, slightly outside of Bristol town but easily accessible by foot, bus or taxi. The staff are friendly and helpful. Range of drinks is good - local ales as well as usual favourites. Great menu with something for everyone including veggie and vegan choices. The pub has a large outside area with slides for kids, but this doesn't dominate the main areas of the pub so visitors without kids can also enjoy the experience! A really friendly, happy place to spend some time. Enjoy.

We visited folllowing a recommendation from a work colleague. This a great place to relax if you are off to the nearby cricket ground. Large venue with a fantastic beer garden. it was a lovely sunnny evening so we grabbed a table outside. The ham, egg and chips I ordered was plentiful as well as scrummy. Would recommend.

Popped in for lunch with friends, good fish & chips, also the ham egg & chips was also very good. There is a good choice of beers & wines. We ended staying for 3 hours ! Will definitely go back to try the Sunday lunch.

Ate here this week and was lucky enough to enjoy the beautiful weather in the large beer garden which is a real sun trap. The pub is nice inside too. Had the zucchini pancakes with feta salad and butternut squash which was very good. Fairly small menu (for a pub) with a couple of specials but everything sounded / looked good. Good drink selection and nice friendly service. Everyone there was in good spirits. A very nice evening and would recommend / return.

Although a very pleasant pub with good outside area , the food was poor. My son ordered the sea bass with risotto - price £12.50 - the portion of sea bass was tiny - very thin. Best not order that again. The cod and chips was good. Also very poor vegetarian options - two choices of main meal. As for vegan choices - forget it.

Laregish pub on the corner of Gloucester Road and Ashley Down Road. There is a good range of real ales, but the emphasis here is very much on the food.

Lovely Sunday lunch! Great for families! On the pricier side for a roast but was very nice so we will visit again!

Nice place for a casual pub dinner. Good beer choices, including guest ales and a nice menu. Reasonably priced food and really tasty.

Fabulous Sunday roast. We ordered the beef which was superbly cooked and served with home made Yorkshire pudding, gravy and seasonal vegetables- all perfectly seasoned. Vegetarian option was also really good. The staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended *****

This is our local and how a pub should be. Friendly service, Warm atmosphere, and SUPERB rump steak. Seriously. Do not miss this pub if you're in the area. Long may it reign.

Six of us had prebooked for Sunday lunch and we ordered 2 beef, 2 Lamb and 2 kids meals. The pub was not even half full. The first 3 plates came out fine along with side plates of veg. It was another 15 minutes before the second 3 came out. So, one half of the table eat after the first half had finished, with cold veg. They apologised and said they'd made a mistake. Food was 'average' at best. Service was unenthusiastic, but they waved our drinks - about a tenner. For goodness sake, go to the Lazy Dog, just down the road!

Fancied a beer with my Brother after Christmas and whilst strolling past thought we'd drop in for a beer and munch. Ordered an Otley beer which was lovely if not a tad over priced but the food was where the surprise lay. At £10.50 for a burger and some chips that is a way too much. The food was tasty and looked nice but way, way too small and the insulting portion of chips only added to the feeling of disappointment. Would it of hurt to have a larger portion of fried potato? 6+ chips in a bowl is a joke? The burger itself was okay/passable as its was real meat but what the hells going on with the chips.... Oh well....not coming back here for food in future - just the beer and IF they keep Otley on tap....

Amazing Sunday roast. Expensive (£14 for beef) but worth it. Pretty big place, easy to get a table. Table service too. Go check it out .

Popped out for a roast, arrived to the pub, a few tables reserved but one was not, asked the waitress if it was ok to sit to which she replied 'uh probably' so took our chances. Ordered drinks and 1 beef and 1 veggie roast at the bar (as they were 'too busy for normal table service') and settled down with our drinks waiting for food to come. Waitress approaches us to let us know there is no veggie roast available because we did not prebook, in 2016, in Bristol especially you should not need to preorder a vegetarian meal. Ended up having to quickly finish drinks we wouldn't have bought if we'd have been told at the bar and went to find food somewhere in the 21st century.
