Wanted to take my partner here last night (22/09/17), as have enjoyed it in the past, and wanted to treat him to some nice food. We spotted an empty table without reserved sign (!) on the upper level, my partner went to sit down whilst I went to queue at the bar. 30 seconds later, a very rude waitress came and told him 'You have to get up, this table is reserved you know'. And how exactly were we to know? No apology was offered. Really poor service. This is the first time I've been expected to have Jedi powers to know that a table is reserved and failing that should expect to be treated with contempt. Not impressed.

Went there for Sunday roast and had the most appalling experience EVER! Rude and derogatory service, especially by the girl behind the bar and the waiter who worked on a shift with her. Learn how to deal with complaints more professionally people! Giggling behind the bar is not a definition of providing good service! As for the food- my roast pork was ok, although I would like to have seen a bigger variety of vegetables. My friend's chicken was extremely dry, therefore he left a lot of it on his plate. At the end of the day it wasn't that cheap either- £15 for a roast! Surely, they could have made more effort. I get that it's a 'cool' sort of place, but £15 is still £15!!!

Went here with visiting family after a previous quite successful visit. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and some nice food, some of the time. Left feeling a bit deflated though. I really wanted to love this place - it's in the wonderful Gloucester Road - but the food the second time around was mediocre and the service was so slow. This had also been an issue on our first visit when the puddings took so long to come they offered to take some drinks off the bill. Don't know if it's a problem at the kitchen end or what but it's certainly spooling the overall effect. Shame.

I've been to the Galli several times for drinks and finally tried their food. I had the avocado toast off the lunch menu, and it's easily the best in Bristol! I'll definitely be back for another meal, as everything on the menu sounded good, and all the ingredients seem fresh.

Went for dinner and drinks on Thursday night. Pleasant service although all food orders were suspended for forty minutes because they were having a break?! Brilliantly cooked pork, menu said potato fondant but they were slightly underdone roast potatoes. Lovely cocktails. Good vibe with live music although the band was SO loud that we eventually had to leave because we couldn't even hear each shouting at the top of our voices. Could have been a bit quieter and wouldn't have made any difference to the ambience.

We called here for a light lunch and drink outside. The food was fantastic, well cooked and presented and the choice was perfect for our tastes. The staff were very friendly and kept very busy. Although on the main Gloucester Road it was great just watching people from all cultures walking by and being in an area where every type of food could be found. We will definitely be coming back.

Great place to go for a relaxed atmosphere and some great live music. Always buzzing with a real cross section of people. Enjoyed their regular Jazz nights.

Had a nice evening as usual tonight, having been to this bar many times. Around 7pm after some quiet drinks, accidentally spilt a half pint on the wall outside which broke, the bouncer then came and demanded I cleared it up, which I would have considered helping with if he wasn't so rude, he then called me an idiot for breaking a glass... Me and my 2 friends promptly left. Massively unnecessary on his part, especially since we had spent a few pounds in there and enjoyed our afternoon until then. This venue needs to vet their doormen, not just hire some goon from an agency.

We were invited to lunch by friends who have raved about the venue. We were sceptical of a pub lunch in a Gloucester Road pub however what a surprise. An excellent venue, great choice of food and drink and superb service. My choice of roast chicken was a winner and the puds were top notch (panacotta if you're wondering). Over the years we have been disappointed with poor quality Sunday lunch however this is not the case here and we will definitely be returning. Recommended to all but don't tell too many people so we have a chance of booking a table for our next visit!

We have been several times to the Galimaufry for food and it never disappoints. The menu changes fairly regularly meaning there is often something new to try and the tapas are amazing. Before 7pm you can get a good deal of 3 tapas plates for £15. Great vibe too!

Really great place, food is fantastic, especially recommend the lunch time fish and chips! However not so keen on the Galli Hangover that was so raved about... sauce was very peculiar, flavours didn't go well together. All but one of the staff were lovely, just a shame we were served by the grumpy one! Other than that, really lovely place and will be coming again!

The sunday roast (pork belly was the one I tend to choose) is delicious but its the beautiful decor and art, the visiting artists and the standard pieces, that I love the most. I find its always a beautiful individual place to visit. Depending on the time of the month sometimes I find it a bit expensive on drinks but when its sunny you don't mind when you're sitting in the sun. I've never had bad service oh and the toilets have also always been clean and pleasant(a big thing in my books)!

From the outside this looks like a standard pub but inside is beautifully decorated with stained glass windows and origami birds! Food we chose was absolutely incredible! e.g Courgette flower stuffed with creamy mushroom sauce - delicious!! Also had good vegan options!

Big shout out to the folks at the Galli - really great evening - they had some top talent at their open mic and were very friendly and chatty. Literally had to ask me, extremely politely, to leave at closing!!

Visiting my Sister-in-law & family in Bristol, we'd asked her to book us somewhere for a Sunday lunch. A short stroll on a lovely Spring day along the Gloucester Road and in amongst all the other quite trendy and 'on message' (apparently!) venues she led us to the Gallimaufry. Good choice. A limited, but still quite varied menu meant mussels for our two boys, pork belly, lamb or nut roast for the rest of us. All good choices and served with an unusual mix of veg and pots all cooked perfectly and, unusually, with a decent gravy! The bar / restaurant is a vibrant working local pub, but has a different if basic look and feel to it, but the food was anything but basic or simple, but definitely different. Average food prices were typical City suburb prices (but worth it), although drinks were a bit more than they could have been, but not enough to dock a Star. The service was quick, friendly and efficient. I'm sure we'll go back next time we're in Bristol and out somewhere along the Gloucester Road and I know my Sister-in-law will, as it's one of her 'locals'.

We have visited the Gali regularly over the past few months and have always been impressed with both the food and the service. The small plates are consistently innovative and delicious; favourites being the salt fish croquettes, purple sprouting broccoli with peanut sauce and the beef. The menu is updated regularly which means it never gets boring and the great selection of local beers is another big plus. The service is very friendly and attentive and last time we were there, the waitress reduced the bill as we'd had to wait a few minutes to order drinks (we hadn't complained!) I would thoroughly recommend the Gali as a great place to eat and a fun place to drink and watch live music. We consider ourselves very lucky to be local.

This place is a little strange, but the food is surprisingly good and not too dear. I chose from the small plates (rather like Spanish tapas), having tempura red sprouting broccoli (very good), cuttlefish with black pudding and odds and ends (also very good) and a terrine (not bad). That plus a medium glass of Spanish plonk came to £19.50 plus a tip. I'll be back.

I last ate at the Gallimaufry a few years ago, and was knocked out by the food and great beer selection. Happily nothing has changed in these two areas. The menu, which changes all the time, was interesting and innovative. I had salt fishcakes with kale and anchovies, the three others in our party all had similarly delightful dishes. It's a busy place - unsurprisingly - but the service was brisk and attentive. If I only visited one restaurant in Bristol it would be this one.

Very nice environment. Every night there's something interesting: live music and lots of people. The reastaurant upstairs is intimate and offers small plates/tapas.. delicious! It's the right place to go with a group of friends but also with a partner.
