We came after a late-night visit to Sacre Couer and were seated promptly without a reservation. Friendly and attentive service throughout. Menu was in French but the waitress was helpful and able to explain everything to us. Got the best mussels I've ever had for appetizer and wonderful pollock and lamb dishes for the main course. Reasonably priced and good white wine by the glass. Thanks for the best meal that we ate in Paris!

By far and away the worst service we experienced in Paris. We went out for a birthday meal with high expectations having read positive reviews of Le Grand 8 only to be greeted with rudeness and made to feel entirely unwelcome. Do not recommend.

Read about this restaurant in multiple food magazine and blog articles. It's cozy inside, seats along the wall have a view of the city at night, and the food and staff are fantastic. I had foie gras, steak, and a cheese plate. All of it was wonderful. The cheese plate in particular was phenomenal and it was exactly the delicious rich cheese plate I imagined when planning my trip to Paris. The staff is friendly, personable, and knows the menu and wine list well. The wines I had were outstanding too. I'd definitely go back to this restaurant next time I'm in town.

Don't let the size of this restaurant fool you. What it lacks in square footage is made up by the preparation and quality of the food, the ambience and the friendliness of the owner. We had the lamb chops; done to our liking. It was a rainy night, so the hot squash soup was perfect.

Went to Paris in a group of 11 and someone I know who lived for a while there recommended this place. When we arrived we found out that it had recently changed hands but the new owner was delightful. A fiery little mademoiselle who has lived in the UK in Bolton who spoke excellent English. The menu is simple yet well executed and I really enjoyed my starter of razor clams and the lamb for main. The organic wines recommended by the owner were also extremely good. I would definitely go back here when I am next in Paris.

Near Sacre Couer, a fabulous, interesting restaurant with an engaging owner. Amazing what food can be created in a small place by a small staff. Also helpful, knowledgeable suggestions for wine. Beautiful view out the back window.

After spending 8 days in Paris trying different restaurant options at different "arrondissements", I can say how difficult is for any restaurant to stand out from the rest. We had one of our best dinners in Paris here. Food was great and service extraordinary! It is located very close Sacre Couere, so the view of Paris is also great.

Wonderful dinner. Open kitchen so the sounds and smells previewed our meal. Great fish soup and panfried pollock were just right. My wife's lamb with leeks was perfect. Get away from the crowds and enjoy a great neighborhood spot.

My fiancé and I, with another couple stumbled upon Le Grande 8 by chance when seeking some lunch. The restaurant was empty, but the patron was friendly and welcoming. We had a fantastic set of starters and main courses and the desert was simple but superb. The owner was humorous and attentive and the whole occasion was fantastic. The food was absolutely delicious; a small menu but executed to perfection. The bill was also a pleasant surprise - far less than we expected for such a good meal. We WILL come again! Now for England to beat France in the rugby!

The food was excellent. Perfect Sunday service, laid back and wonderfully knowledgeable owner who also waited our table. We had a lovely afternoon and the view is excellent. Highly recommended and not the tourist trap we were expecting. Have recommended for my Parisian friends to visit and experience the tasty food.

This restaurant received an average of 4.5 stars on Trip Advisor and we wondered why. This restaurant was a huge disappointment on every level. We had an early reservation, yet we were seated in the back behind a pillar. There is absolutely nothing warm and cozy about this restaurant. The staff were less than friendly, dressed like street people and were more concerned with their wine tasting than their guests. The food was overcooked and lacked presentation (pork cutlets, risotto and spinach). We could not wait to eat and leave. This was our least memorable meal in all of our European meals.

We went for dinner after a long day of meetings in Paris Office, great food, the chef looks to every detail of each plate. And always looks that you are fully satisfied.

My spouse and I ate here on a Thursday evening in late July 2015. We had made the journey up to see the view from Sacre Coeur. Having done so we decided to get a bite to eat. I had read about this restaurant prior to our visit to Paris and thought it sounded like a nice place to eat. This was certainly the case. It was just getting dark when we arrived. I had feared the place would be very busy at this time of evening, but we found it to be fairly quiet. There were only 3 or 4 other tables being served, so we were seated immediately at a table near a window which gave a bit of a view of Paris in the distance (if you kind of leaned sideways and craned your neck). The atmosphere here is slightly rustic and unadorned, which is exactly what we prefer. Slightly funky, not fancy or “upscale.” Very comfortable, even though we appeared to be the only non-French-speakers. It seemed that the other customers might have been regular visitors to the restaurant, as at times they were conversing animatedly with the 3 persons that were tending the restaurant. We were not able to communicate with the waitress or understand the menu very easily; however, this did nothing to detract from our experience. In fact, it may have enhanced it, because we felt we were having a fairly authentic experience. This is not a restaurant that is geared toward tourists, which we truly appreciated. The food seemed to match the atmosphere. Very good quality ingredients prepared in unadorned fashion. It felt like we were dining in someone’s home. Good, no nonsense food. We shared an order of the house foie gras, a salad, and two “plats.” The foie gras was mildly seasoned and delicious. I liked this style of preparation, because the flavor of the main ingredient was not over-powered by other flavors. The lamb and veal were perfectly cooked, just slightly pink in the center, not over-seasoned or covered up by over-rich sauce. The wild mushroom risotto was incredible; one of the best risottos I have eaten. The white bean side dish with the veal was an excellent match, as the flavor was mild enough not to overshadow the veal. As I said previously, the seasoning of everything we had here was subtle, allowing the main ingredients to shine. This might be inadvisable were those ingredients not of such good quality. We wanted to try a dessert but were unable to, as we had eaten enough to have not felt it was a good idea. We didn’t want to waddle down the hill. This is one of our special memories of Paris…

We had a lovely dinner at this restaurant close to Montmartre but mainly visited by French people - they know how to treat themselves and how to avoid touristic traps! We were lucky enough to get a table near the window with a cool view on Paris and its roofs even if we didn't book - thing we strongly suggest if possible! - and we had two mains and a great wine the owner suggest to us! Highly recommended!!!

after checking TripAdvisor for a restaurant near Sacre Coeur, we decided to eat at Le grand 8. It's a small charming restaurant right below Sacre Coeur. Staff was very friendly. They don't have an English menu, so if you don't speak French, be prepared! The food was amazing, the wine was good, if you sit by the window, you have a nice view. Overall a great place for dinner!!

Very cool place. A window seat is the best, overlooking Paris. The inside is charming to say the least. This was recommended to me by a local. And it is very local; you need to brush up on your French before coming here. The food is all organic. This might be the first time the green beans and potatoes were better than a steak. Speaking of the steak, it wasn't the greatest, and I blame myself. The veal was mentioned twice on the menu, and it was the most popular item. I failed to ask the waitress for her recommendation. A rookie mistake. Montmartre is my favorite place, and this restaurant is now in my favorite area within Montmartre. There are other cute restaurants nearby. I will perhaps try them in the future.

I was in Dirk's party and agree totally with his comments, amazing locals restaurant. The food and drink was staggeringly good, it was full of locals - always a good sign - price was good and we where very well looked after. Totally recommended.
