Visiting Copenhagen for the very first time, and staying for 4 nights, I wanted somewhere to stay that was going to offer me a real sense of a Danish experience. Bertrams Guldsmeden, was a perfect choice. Part of a collection of family owned and operated hotels, this small boutique experience provided the perfect level of personal service and clean comfortable accommodations. Located in the west section of the city, the location is removed from the central station area a bit, but affords a real authentic Copenhagen experience, which I really appreciated. Some of the best food in the city, located steps from the front door, including the multi cultural food court. Rooms are a bit small, but very well appointed, with great beds and wonderful amenities. Breakfast is a real treat each morning! But mostly, I would like to highlight the staff, for their personal service and friendly atmosphere. Well done!

I was in Copenhagen for 4 days visiting a relative and also sight-seeing. This hotel was really the ideal place for me to return to after hectic days of activity - my room was spotless and super comfy and the staff helped me with everything - renting a bike, booking my taxi to the station, finding my way around, etc. I need a heavy breakfast before starting my day and this hotel had incredible variety in its breakfast buffet, which was extremely healthy as well. This has to be one of the best places to stay when visiting Copenhagen.

It is more a nice hostel than a luxury hotel. So if you expect a stylish hotel, you will be disappointed. Please do not pay attention to the misleading photos: the rooms are extremely small, the bathroom is old (and a bit smelly) and there is no such a "garden" but just a careless and narrow patio. The main issue, however, is the staff: I will not describe them as friendly, but as condescending and sarcastic. They let us know how stupid was visiting Tivoli, going to a Michelin star restaurant or ride a bicycle when it is not sunny (yes, in Copenhague). Pros: the location was great, as I have loved Vestebro neighbourhood, and the eco products for the shower were fantastic.

Many months prior to our vacation I reserved a room at this hotel based on other reviews here. It was pretty much as others have described it - boutique flavor, clean, charming and with nice, friendly staff. The location is a bit out of the way for many of the main sights in the city, but within a walkable distance (about 15-20 min. you get to the central area near Tivoli and the central station). Also, even the elevator to this five floor hotel requires you to walk up about 10 steps to access it at all from the ground floor. It was not a problem for us, but we did have a bit of luggage (having just finished a two week cruise) which made it a bit tricky. So, if you are in any way ambulatory challenged I would not recommend this hotel. The room we had was large, clean and comfortable, including the bed. The bath was also of a nice size and spotless too. All organic and recycled responsible products, and a lovely organic breakfast spread. The staff also was kind to order us up a taxi for an early morning departure. All in all it was a very nice visit for our two night stay.

It's a 1.4 kilometre walk from the Central Station no great shakes except the road, cycle & path the whole way was dug up so it made it very awkward. On arrival I didn't feel particularly welcome we were ushered into the lounge by the one guy on reception who said he'd be with us .......................... I thought he'd forgot and he was irritated when I reminded him ! We'd requested an early check which he seemed unaware reminded us check in was 14:00, I asked if could leave our bags suddenly oh there is a room. No shower just an old fashioned bath It was lovely and clean Very quiet Breakfast spread excellent if expensive Other staff were really pleasant Room was small Probably wouldn't go back I'd stay nearer the centre

Arrived after a rather long train journey from Berlin. After 2 weeks traveling around Europe I had got quite accustomed to keeping check-in chatter to a bare minimum and was expecting the same at this place as well. I was greeted by Nikolas, the owner at the reception. It took him less than a minute to make us feel at home, he pulled out a map, told us about the area, it's history, what to do, what to avoid and how to make the most of our time in Copenhagen. The hotel itself is timeless. Located right in the centre of everything, It takes you back in time and gives you an amazing experience of how old school meets it's contemporary counterpart. Gorgeous rooms, unbelievably clean and really airy. Also, a massive shout-out to the other dude with the long hair I chilled with on and off during my stay, can't seem to recall his name unfortunately! stay here guys, won't regret it. until next time!

Very nice, non conventional hotel. My 3rd visit in a Guldsmeden hotel and not my last one. Great breakfast with a lot of good danish bread and a lot of other delicious things. Nice area, one km from the main station, with tons of redtaurants a take-aways nearby. Also my room to the backyard was quiet and I enjoyed a relaxed night.

Great hotel in excellent location, we were able to walk to major sites. Breakfast was the best we had while in Europe! Highly recommend this small hotel, would visit again. Looked after our luggage for a few hours after checkout time.

We stayed here for 3nights and the hosts were very welcoming and knowledgeable of the area, advising us of a little bar located off the Main Street. The rooms are clean and you are provided with organic shampoo etc. The hotel is about 15min walk to the centre but very straight forward on straight road. Each morning there is a bowl of fresh fruit to start your day. Would recommend to anyone travelling to Copenhagen

Lovely hotel in a good location. Really beautifully decorated, nice ambience and very helpful owner and staff. Got some great tips and advice from them and good to chat with. Our room was lovely and the organic toiletries a very nice touch. The breakfast was expensive though no more so than everything else in Copenhagen and in fact in terms of value was pretty good comparative to a simple breakfast of coffee and pastry elsewhere. We had it once and it was really delicious. It was about a 15 minute walk to central station from where you can get pretty much anywhere. Nice restaurants and bars within walking distance. The old meat packer district was quite fun and a funky bar and a couple of very good restaurants very close by.

The service at this gorgeous boutique hotel is second to none. The staff at the reception desk are both totally delightful and extremely helpful. Nikolas Hall, the owner, I think, advised us not only on what to do and see during our stay but where to eat too. His recommendations were faultless. The rooms are spacious and quite delightful providing you with everything you could possibly need and the organic breakfast delicious. The hotel itself is within easy walking distance of some lovely cafes and restaurants. There is nothing I could possibly criticise or find fault with. If you are going to Copenhagen and wish to stay somewhere extremely special Bertrams Hotel Guldsmeden is the place for you.

Rooms are tastefully furnished and clean but bathrooms are very small. No tea and coffee making facilities or fridge in the room, probably due to the room being quite compact. Might be nice to have a free tea/coffee station downstairs near the reception where there is a lovely lounge area for people to relax. Quite noisy in the area with a lot of construction going on, sirens in the street and music playing. Location is within walking distance from cafes, attractions and main station. Need to be able to manage your cases on stairs so not good for disabled people.

Its a pleasantly presented hotel in an old building superbly located with cosy rooms. Rooms are small and basic. We stayed 3 nights. The reception staff were informative and even a bit quirky. In the room the 'minibar' was not the expected refrigerator, rather a tray of a small assortment of room temp bottled drinks at a significant price. The courtyard views - well - are hard to get from the 4 th floor, rather our view was of the neighbours construction site . The bathroom water pressure was poor and hot water limited in our 4th floor room so the recommended 3 min water saving shower is mandatory . The rooms are not for light sleepers with all sorts of noises from hotel guests and creaking floors, sirens from emergency vehicles every night as they race down the busy front street, and then the 6 am rubbish bin manoeuvrings , and the neighbours renovation crew start their drillings and cutting from just after 7am.

The staff was absolutely excellent. They were very helpful in providing information, maps, directions, etc. The staff was friendly and made our stay feel like home. The room was beautiful with many well thought-out touches. Location was within walking distance to all tour attractions.

Now I know some of you have stayed in 5 star hotels all over the world and they can be hard to beat. Bertrams has 5 star quality in the friendliness of their staff alone. It is nice to enter a hotel and feel welcomed straight away. It is nice to stay in a room that prides itself in small details. It is nice to be able to enjoy a breakfast with plenty of choice and the time to eat it. It is nice to be in the centre of a city but not feel enclosed. Overall, it is a nice place to be. Now go ahead...you decide.

Set in a characterful building on the street, conveniently midway between the central station and Fredricksbeg, the Guldsmeden has a quirky, boutiquey feel to it. The courtyard garden and (in some rearward-facing rooms) the small balconys grant guests some welcome outside space in an urban environment. Our standard 2nd floor room was clean, well-decorated and quiet, despite the usual soundproofing and layout limitations associated with hotels that have been created from older converted buildings. There's a heavy and slightly preachy emphasis put on the hotel's eco values - perhaps this is why guests aren't provided with kettles or a fridge in their room, both of which are considered important and pretty basic conveniences by this reviewer in even the simplest of business or tourist hotels - which the Guldsmeden certainly doesn't consider itself to be, on the basis of its rates. The staff on the front desk were welcoming, calm, bright, cheerful and inquisitive, offering advice and recommendations freely. The lounge area and breakfast room were well looked after (although they appeared to be under-used). It seemed perhaps a little soulless as a result, and not a place to linger or bring friends back to. However, there is a good range of bars, restaurants and decent takeaways within easy walking distance, so you are unlikely to use the hotel's public spaces either. Overall, the Guldsmeden is a pleasant and friendly base from which to explore Copenhagen.

Bertrams Guldsmeden was our first stay hotel in Copenhagen. It's small hotel but the value is so great. Nice room, excellent service, breakfast so delicious, staff friendly, warm welcome and very quick check-in/ check out. You can walk 10-15 minutes to other good places in city. I recommend this nice hotel for everybody to Copenhagen.

We stayed here for a couple nights. Service was good, the room was good. No issues or problems. Front desk was helpful with our questions. It was on a main bus line so it was easy to access from the main city center.

My daughter and I stayed three nights at this cute hotel. We found the staff warm and friendly. This small hotel was exactly what we were looking for- small and cozy and super clean. The breakfast is by far the best we have have had in a hotel - lovely breads and pastries - fresh fruit yogurt - eggs - delicious. The first hotel I have been to where they give you a toothbrush! I want to give a shout out to Oliver at the front desk who went out of his way to help find the phone charger that I left behind. Thanks for a wonderful stay - we will be back some day!

Me and my wife had a weekend stay here. A good 15 min walk into Ströget and other nice places in the city. Very tidy and clean. Nice interior and very good breakfast. Friendly staff and smooth checkin and out. Short walk to meatpacking district with great restaurants.
